With the announcement that the hulkster will be in wwe2k14 I don't understand why mattel won't make a figure of him. Wwe has also released DVD's about him while he was with tna. To my understanding he is allowed to have merchandise released with wwe. His figures would obviously be a huge seller, and we could see a huge variety of figures from him.

Beats me. I dont understand how any of the licensing etc works. I was under the impression that if they were ever a character in the wwe than technically they should have the right to produce any figure as long as they own the name. Jakks never seemed to have issues. For example, if Scott Hall isnt signed with WWE , then I can understand but why can they not make a Razor Ramon figure considering they own the character?
Id love to hear this all explained if someone has the info.

Either: -WWE is fine with Hogan on the game, but is blocking a Hogan figure. -Hogan negotiated a deal with 2K fine, but hasn't reached a deal with Mattel that both sides agree on. -Hogan's Jakks contract is binding (or there are other legal roadblocks), which means Mattel can't make a deal with him. To make a doll of a wrestler, Mattel (and Jakks before them) either needs that wrestler to be covered under a WWE contract or they need to make a separate deal with that wrestler. |

I know Mattel's previously stated they would not release a figure of someone who appears on a rival show, so... Anyway, our Mattel collections will never be complete without the Hulkster.

So youre saying even though they own the character Razor Ramon, legally they cant make the figure if it looks like Scott Hall until he makes a deal with wwe or mattel? |

A figure deal is different than a video game deal. And with DVD's the WWE owns the rights to all the footage from the WWE and I'd think when they purchased WCW they also the rights to it's library as well. But to make a figure Mattel would have to sign him and I don't think they can until his contract with Jakks runs out.
That is why we'll still never see an Owen unless Martha signs a contract. The WWE won the rights to use their footage of Owen on DVD's and in things like WWE 24/7, but they still can't make a figure of him unless his estate (wife) signs a contract.

Well look at the bright side guys. The way things are going in TNA it shouldn't be too long before we get a hulk figure! Lol. Exactly - when (I don't think it is 'if' at this point) TNA folds, I am sure Vince will swoop in just for the footage, and if we are lucky to do an invasion angle correctly with TNA - we would then see Hogan, the Dudleys, Taz, and any other figures and flashbacks from superstars currently with TNA. |

The only logical explanation that I can think of is that because jakks and mattel are competitors this would create a barrier. I'm not sure when jakks' deal with tna is up.

My best guess is that Jakks has the rights to his likeness figure-wise and their contract only allows toys to be made by them.
