I finally got the DM Sting and it's better than I thought. The face isn't that bad, I just think it's the grin that throws it off. I'm fine with the torso and the legs aren't really skinny. Any thicker and he will have super ripped legs like HHH.
I'm satisfied since I only paid $10 from TRU after 20% off coupon and $10 rewards. I wouldn't pay full price for this and the only full price DM I paid for was Crow Sting. I can see why even the plastic jacket would make it DM worthy because I believe it's casted in red and then there are blue, white, red again and silver deco hits on it making this probably the most detailed plastic jacket to date.
People forget Mattel is a business so when I see complaints from collectors that don't understand how business works, same people are just complaining without any merits. Mattel needs to make money for the shareholders and in return we get masses produced figures that aren't always perfect but we are still getting great action figures from a designer that cares about the product and does all he can to fight for the little people. Thanks Bill and keep doing you.

Fandango had a one-off torso and THE most detailed paint apps on a Mattel figure. I bought it for $18.99. Additionally, it wasn't the only detailed and elaborate figure in that wave.
I can't swing it and I won't buy it. I like the smaller torso on the basic and the color scheme if I'm being honest.
I won't say that people are wrong to like or hate this figure, though, it's just opinions. I simply won't be buying this one.

Thanks Bill and keep doing you. Chewdeezy I like you, but you've lost a little crediblity with me with that statement. By your own admission you said you wouldn't pay full price, so maybe just maybe having paid only $10 AND $10 rewards took the sting (no pun intended) out of your purchase? I'm no economics major, but I fully understand Mattel is a business and needs to churn a profit, likewise this is a mass-produced line and not something like Hot Toys Collectibles. I get all that, I really do - but as a consumer of this mass produced item, one shouldn't forfeit the ability to critique. And I think what most of us are offering is constructive criticism, not bashing Bill at every opportunity. Mattel has a thicker thigh mold that is not super ripped like HHH - you'll find it on RW Hawk. The Bluetista torso is simply too wide and jacked - Mattel has more appropriate torso choices in their parts library. The head sculpt is hit or miss depending on your preference; for this long-time Sting fan I think they are "off" more than "on" As for the jacket, it's quite comparable to the Bret Hart RSC exclusive - yes there's more deco hits, but it fails on many levels compared to soft goods - and believ me I'm not a soft goods supporter, I actually like molded jackets - 'cept this one still doesn't justify a DM price-point. And where is the big gold belt? This was a defining moment match in Sting's illustrious career. Mattel will of course argue that this is "pre-match", but it's just inexuseable. Instead of giving away free crappy WWE titles randomly, why not put some effort into making a true DM figure. The DM line is becoming filler and that's too bad because this could have been their "high-end" line and they are cannibalizing the sub-brand (-> actual marketing major <-) Just my two cents too.

Come on. It isn't that hard to put this or Bret's, Taker's or Edge's jackets/coat on or take off. Taking it off just push it over the shoulders and slide down the arms. Putting it on you put one hand and forearm into the sleeve then the other arm and slide up. It really isn't splitting the atom like some of you are making it out to be. It's a huge pain in the ass for me. I take off the jackets and I leave them off. They're not that hard to take off but putting them back on is horrible. I tried once and said never again. I can't imagine little kids taking it off and putting back on when they're playing with their figures.

I can't imagine little kids taking it off and putting back on when they're playing with their figures. I can't see too many kids buying the Defining Moments Sting figure, to be honest. Many kids wouldn't know this version of Sting because he hadn't looked like this since the mid 90's, and I can't see parents churning out $20-$25 on this figure when they can get two basics for the same price. Many elite figures of classic wrestlers and Defining Moments figures are aimed at the adult collector who would either display them nicely or keep them in their packaging, so taking the jacket off was probably a secondary thought to the sculptor.

I don't know, man. It's a cool looking figure and some kids surprisingly know the older guys because of the Network. I teach and I remember I found out a student was into wrestling. I asked him who his favorite wrestler was and he said Yokozuna and that was in 2015. If people know who Yokozuna is, I think they'll know who Sting is (especially when there have also been DVD's and videogames with him recently.

So I got mine today from Target.
Feel kinda weird for paying 27 after taxes for the laced boots version TBH. All i get is a plastic jacket ? Really? Same with RSC Jericho. Expensive $hit man. But it's also Mainly cause I wasn't a surfer sting to begin with. It's a cool ass figure tho. And really pops on my shelf.
The jacket is alright. It makes an awesome display piece for sure. Kinda wish I got the correct boots version but it's still really cool and I'll probably wind up making a fantasy tag team with him the E30 Luger down the line.

For those who have found Sting in more than one store, do you have any estimate on the ratio between laced boots and correct boots that are out there right now?
So far I have only seen one case of these pop up in my area, and they had the laces. I am considering grabbing the laces version because it seems a bit wasteful to burn gas and time looking for specific boots.

All we've seen at local TRU and Targets are the laced boots version. Those will sit, not buying them. Waiting for a corrected boots version.

I've seen 5 of them at TRU so far. 1 had laces, 4 had no laces.
