I've been saying this all along....Sdcc is going to be a big determining factor on where wwe will rank on their collecting list. It's time to stop saving guys. Start making icon looks and pumping them out. I'm tired of waiting on wolfpac Sting, Dx iyh hbk, fb Jericho, green trunks warrior or savage with a damn robe! An attitude era elite Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon! Make them! No body wants ultimate maniacs or rereleased dms! How about a corporate rock with street gear or stone cold exclusive with a damn atv! Something new and different. Keep saving them and it could potentially be another dm Hollywood all over again.

Don't basics and elites come out way more often than Marvel Legends? It's kind of like apples to oranges, I'd rather get quantity over quality in a wrestling line, imo. And by quality, I mean unique parts and accessories, not the paint apps. Agreed on the use it before you lose it strategy, like how great would that Network Spotlight set would've been 5 new Stings, 5 new HBKs, or 5 new Warriors? I think that flop set of Rey Mysterios scared them away from ever revisiting the concept.

I don't buy random guys any more like I used too, I buy mostly current and flashbacks I feel a connection too so guys like LOD I'll buy but not someone like Funk, in fact I never bought Lita and before I would of. They're just too much and I have other things to focus on, £13 was good for an Elite, even £15 was but £18 plus is ridiculous especially with their bad QC.
Back in the day Triple H had all you needed, a water bottle, hammer and shirt but now Cena doesn't even get his shirts. Lego Star Wars has the same problem, for example in their UCS hoth set the generator was smaller that it should be with only 3 points instead of the accurate 4.

Each release, Mattel needs to imagine its the last time this superstar will be released, so lets go with the most iconic look that fans remember. That HOF Hogan should have been nWo. HOF Eddie should have had the IC title. X-Pac should have been Red/black/white.

I'll say this..
The price, the qc issues, straight re-releases, and overall spiteful nature Mattel has seemed to adopt recently has made me want to stop buying and selling off the majority of what I have.
It's just not fun anymore. I went from "ooooohhh, figures!" To "ugh.. figures"

I am cutting down to 1 a series now, was well pleased to get joe, until I found my leg joints aren't flush (gaps were the legs and thigh joint meet), not gonna bother taken it back cos all the other joes had terrible paint marks, plus got the spinning left hand, unacceptable when your spending £20 on a figure, whoever says otherwise ur a knob!!! I'm not gonna stop collecting as I do enjoy the hobby & have done for the last 4 years.. But I will now only buy must haves.

This is a great thread. I'm in the same boat. I've really been on a huge marvel legends kick. For the price point and everything we get its just more fun. Mattel's line has really been slacking and it's true u hear more bad than good lately. It feels like work to collect them as of late. Not to mention how the current product is lacking. I'm very impressed with Hasbro and their selection overall. I like that they are finally acknowledging that some people may not have been collecting since 2002 and are therefore offering new versions of old characters that Toybiz had created. In doing so, they are still giving reason for the long time collectors to still get the new versions by making them definitive editions, like the massively poseable Spider-man with his swappable heads and boatload of accessories. Also, many new versions of figures are actually legacy characters, such as the case of Kraven, Valkyrie, and Beetle. Basically, Hasbro is giving me everything I could hope for in a line while Mattel rereleases legends in lieu of making newer definitive ones, sits on character's iconic looks, and dwindles away those accessories. Before long all we'll get are detailed tattoos and cardboard signs.

There as to be a few so so figures in each wave but give me a reason to buy em. Throw a gimmick accessory or something in there. I just want more of an effort. There are ways to be creative with a budget. The problem with Mattel is they really aren't geared towards collectors as they are more focused on kids. But if that's the case then the price shouldn't be as much as it is. There's too many lines out there now. Walgreens exclusive, ringside, hof, network spotlight, Walmart. Like every store has an exclusive. Save those funds and put less exclusives out there and use that money to making the elites and dms more desirable.

We aren't discussing the secondary markets value. These have proven, for the most part, to retain or have a high aftermatket value. My concern here is , do these figures represent a good value in the $20 market.

Sir you can discuss value you is value to however you would like, however is your bossman worth the $20 you paid or more ...nope on clearance at rus How about those 14.99 elites on Amazon The are causing this themselfs no collectors or reseller are to blame. I don't collect toilet paper for a reason...it's to wipe with and those about the value of all of our collections at this point. Not a argument or a knock just speaking on the topic

The issue is, do I feel like I'm getting the most out of my money with a figure that comes with great deco and accessories or a figure that has great deco. Am I happy after buying the Network Steve Austin at $25 with a belt or Bray Wyatt with a shirt, hat, and microphone? A $20 figure should be loaded, and a $25 figure better be even better.

Seeing as I'm not going to try to start an argument and you are intitled to your opinion and thoughts and that why we are all here. There has not been one re-release that has done any favors to the value of this line Taker comic / Dm re-release was 9.89 Bossman currently on clearance Horseman $20 Dm austin $18.50 All I'm trying to say is majority of people do not collect stamps because they will be re-released and are worthless to there collection The more sought after an item the cooler it is to have

I'd be interested to see a list of all elite figures that came with a cloth accessory, because I'd bet it's shorter than we think. I don't know, but that's my guess. Also, Joe didn't need a cloth shirt. That should have gone somewhere else. That's a wasted cloth accessory. They need to be smarter about where they're spending the big bucks.

Personally, I focus on the legends, and only on the ones I'm interested in. I used to collect ten all but stopped a few sets back. I also stopped buying duplicates unless it's something great (e.g. not defining moments warrior which I predict will warm as hard as the last bodysuit warrior).

idk....i think Hasbro puts out plenty of figures w/ no accessories....and little paint apps. Just looking at the Juggernaut wave, 3 of the figures didn't come w/ accessories. There's more paint apps on a John Cena basic then the Havok in that wave.
the articulation seems to be all over the place. Where some of the marvel legends get crazy articulation and others not as much. Where as mattel elites are standard. And its not like every Marvel Legend gets extra heads and hands. Like only 1 or 2 in a wave get them

I rarely pay full price anymore. I'll wait for loose sales or damaged packaging or Amazon Warehouse. For RSC Exclusives damaged packaging plus coupon or points and coupons from Kmart.
