One major problem with Mattel is the lack of getting stuff out while it is hot. For example, The New Day. They have been around for nearly 2 years now. In the USA, you would be very lucky to walk into a normal retail outlet and find the first New Day Elite (E42 Xavier). Who knows when E43 will hit mass retail and even then Big E hasn't even been released yet
The WWE may look at Basics and Elites as the same thing, but if they don't then how in the hell is that turnaround time acceptable?
Just guessing, that E45 Rollins will be White Ranger Seth. Besides 'us', people are going to be why the hell is Seth dressed like that? It's been a year. It was a simple repaint. Should've gone in DM Warriors spot or this upcoming Cena's spot anyway ( you know aimed towards the collector)
While I do enjoy the Elites for the most part, things like stated above drive me crazy about Mattel

I stopped reading at Marvel Legends.
Marvel Legends, for the most part, are a joke. Horrible distribution, terrible habit of repaints, severe lack of MCU characters when that is their biggest cash cow. Terrible.

Again, I'm not comparing products as much as I'm comparing over all value at the $20 price point.

It happened with Goldust a couple years ago too. Dude was putting on weekly clinics and his elite took foreeeever to come out. I understand the turn aound time for figs. I get it. But many are coming out much too late. I mean, damn. New Day could be breaking up soon.

idk....i think Hasbro puts out plenty of figures w/ no accessories....and little paint apps. Just looking at the Juggernaut wave, 3 of the figures didn't come w/ accessories. There's more paint apps on a John Cena basic then the Havok in that wave. the articulation seems to be all over the place. Where some of the marvel legends get crazy articulation and others not as much. Where as mattel elites are standard. And its not like every Marvel Legend gets extra heads and hands. Like only 1 or 2 in a wave get them But here's the diff. They make sure to put the right accessories with the right guys. Wolverine could have came with nothing but we got 2 hands with no claws. The accessories they do include are warranted for the right guys. Rouge gets a gloveless hand which is perfect. Not to mention they all come with baf parts. Even havoc has the cool chiller effects. You can see the efforts on their part to make them a little unique and diff. With Mattel how many cenas, brets n stone colds have the same heads from 6 yrs ago.

While I agree it's hard to hold that against them.

Which is why Orton is one of the guys who should always come with a cloth shirt. Same with Cena.

How about pyro effects that u can put in the background when he does the Orton poses like some lines have bases. Even if it was made of cardboard.

Why not a small card board cut out on New Day Elites you can fold into a small Booty-O's box for them?

I think, in time, Mattel will adapt. Similar with the way DC Icons have rejuvenated DC figure based properties. Right now, their WWE line up is a money maker as is. Paint apps and accessories are not the selling point to average consumers (kids). Mattel won't fix machinery unless they have no choice; "If it's not broken, don't fix it". Still, I got to believe that there are more and more people (collectors) like me; fully supporting the elite and/or basic line up, but now have become VERY selective with what we add to our collections. I'd say, since E27, I'm lucky if I find 3 of 6 elites appealing, with E34 and E43 being sets that were near perfect for its time.
