This is not to be negative because I am excited about this line and what's to come after SDCC and yesteray. But I keep going back to the 4th DM last year. One of these guys who did a Q & A with Bill, said he took it as it was Owen. That's all well and good My question is if MDT can spend whatever tooling, design, time, planning, etc on someone who will "never" sign with WWE, so much that they had to re release SDCC Undertaker (biggest DM flop so far) If they did that, why on earth would they not have already done that with maybe the simplest mega star ever, Goldberg? That is a major problem when it comes to WWE Mattel and losing popularity. The turnaround time wasn't a problem for the first 6 years

Little update. Today I was in Smyths and like every Sunday it was busy. At the WWE section a kid was begging his parents for the Elite Samoa Joe. His parents refused because it was too expensive and told him to buy the basic. The kid didn't want the basic because it lacked his towl and shirt so they left empty handed.
Price does seem to be a huge factor. Kids see the Elite's with their entrance and don't want basics because they look too boring.

The turnaround time wasn't a problem for the first 6 years The first six years weren't full of 6" lines 'competing' when they are releasing their movie figures often before the movies come out or right around the time they come out Just off the top of my head Multiverse Suicide Squad Multiverse B V S SW Black TFA SW Black Rogue One ML Dr Strange ML Civil War (at least Black Panther, Falcon & new Spidey came out quickly. Scarlet Witch not so much!) I'm sure there's others In the ever growing 'got to have it now!' world we are in. Waiting a year on a 'new' character sucks (Seth in white for Christ sakes, Goldberg, Hardys, Angle, etc). The NXT Basics and Elites are helping that out though so maybe we won't run into such large gaps with the call ups

we still have Spiderman and Age of Ultron sets readily available so that is a mute point here.

I don't know if they're losing popularity or not...sales would be able to gage that. But I will say, from what I've seen, and from what A LOT of you have said, retail has been abysmal.
Likewise, I will also say that it certainly seems like the wwe sections in stores are shrinking. I'm not sure if it's a popularity thing, or retailers merely making room for newer brands. If it's true that popularity is sinking, it could have something to do with Cena not really being in the foreground as much...and the severe lack of anyone TRULY taking over as being the face.
But from a personal stand point, I'd say my interest has dwindled a bit. And that's from the TV product being so poor right now. I used to watch religiously, but now it's like, Meh, I might flip it on. While I still think the mattel product is great, fantastic even, lately the past few waves haven't excited me as much. But with that being said, the stuff we saw at ringside fest has gotten me really excited and has reignited my interest on the toy front.

I think they still sell well but they are easier to find online and they have been staying in stock on Amazon for multiple waves.
