If anything, I think we aren't getting ENOUGH flashbacks. And 53 is rumored to have none (but it does have that absolute bore T.J. Perkins). I'm actually worried we're about to start seeing lesser and lesser FBs I'm really curious to see what is shown at SDCC. If we know that Warlord and Berzerker far enough along in development that they were able to be produced when the concussion lawsuit hit, there has to be a point where guys who weren't as far along were pulled. My guess is that would be the E52-54 range. So they may have had to plug spots where a Flashback was planned with another figure, similar to the swap from Koko to Sin Cara. I'm interested to see what happens with Flashbacks over the next year or so. I think we're just now going to feel the effects of the concussion suit. I can't imagine Bill wouldn't have been interested in figures like Adam Bomb, Barbarian, Crush, etc. With those guys off limits and Mattel not signing wrestlers to individual contracts, it seems like the list of possible options gets a lot shorter. Maybe that opens the door for some midcard WCW or ECW figures?

Maybe that opens the door for some midcard WCW or ECW figures? I don't think the lawsuit had that big of an impact. Most of the people in the suit we've already gotten figures in their most iconic looks (Road Warrior/LOD Animal, Orndorff, Kamala, Bundy, Demolition, Jannetty). Then there's guys that even without the suit would never get figures (Chavo Jr and Classic, Snuka, Shane Douglas). Which leaves only a handful of guys worth producing (Adam Bomb/Kona Crush/Kronik, Barbarian/Powers of Pain, One Man Gang, Slick, Patera, Sabu, Koko).

I love legends and flashbacks. I rather see new releases. I'm tired of looking at Daniel Bryan, Seth rollins, roman reigns, ambrose, Cena, it gets old real quick. Finn balor is going to join that list real soon.
I'll never buy any cruiser weight wrestlers, or most of the Roster in the last few years.
My collection will mainly consist of legends and flashbacks. And 1 of each of the top wrestlers where the accuracy is to hard to pass up. Elite 47 was a great set, but I passed on Owens because it was not accurate enough for me to want to buy him.

I'm fine with the way things are now. Especially since most sets don't even get restocks .....(or STOCKED period in the case of the E41 fiasco around my area) ...so a full line of elite FB or Legends, would be impossible to track down. So I'm all for keeping them mixed in the main elite lineup. But with that lawsuit taking out a good number of potential FB names ,ones that would've made great figures aesthetically, (ie Adam Bomb, Crush,Barbarian, Dean Douglas etc) i think we'll either see a cutback in FB figures or we'll get some over due repaints/alternative attires (surfer Sting, a WCW Flair, WCW Luger, 92 HBK,gold Razor etc) and maybe some of the guys under Legends deals that haven't been a priority(Backlund, Graham ) .....its going to be interesting. But I'd prefer to leave the FB concept in the main elite line.

When I first started collecting, I was upset that the Legends line failed, because that's all I intended to collect, nothing past like the year 2000. Well that changed quickly and I get all the way up to certain current roster people now.
I do think releases like the latest Berzerker and Warlord are kinda a waste, but for the 5 people that wanted them, cheers. Releases like that, of guys that make you scratch your head, are few and far between though.
Having 2/4 or 3/3 ratio for Flashbacks/Current stars works fine, will there ever be a series where I buy every figure? Probably not.

I like the mix...but I agree that it's a shame so many guys either haven't gotten elites, or haven't gotten updates in years

I couldn't agree more with your statement. Mattels main priority should be to recreate the current product. Titus and Darren Young have been in WWE since 2010/11, yet they have no elite figures with limited basics. I mean look how long it took Ascension to get Elites, I personally do believe that was down to the amount of flashbacks.

I collect both so i'm good as is. With all the different lines(Elite,TNF,HOF,NS,DM) we get a good mix of FB and current superstars. I would be cool with it if we who live outside the US actually got the TNF sets. I mean I want elite Alpha at retail price although I never will when they actually come out.

Even if there were no FB's in the assortment there are plenty of guys on the current roster that still wouldn't and won't get an Elite because they won't sell at the Elite price point. Bill said that way back in 2010 or 2011. Certain wrestlers will just be Basics or BP.

I'm actually worried we're about to start seeing lesser and lesser FBs Now is as good of a time as any to consider that maybe, just maybe, the placeholder lineup will be altered before it is confirmed. Miz was supposed to be in Elite 52, but his spot now belongs to Braun Strowman. The same could happen to any of the names from Series 53. We just learned of a new List Jericho exclusive, which might mean the Elite 53 figure gets dropped or made into a Flashback Jericho. None of us knows for sure. Perkins could wind up as a Network Spotlight Elite. One would have to think Alexa, Big E, and Kevin Owens are a lock, but then what do you make of Heath Slater? It would be foolish to assume that any lineup is set in stone after all of the changes we've seen to various sets in just the last year alone. I'm really curious to see what is shown at SDCC. If we know that Warlord and Berzerker far enough along in development that they were able to be produced when the concussion lawsuit hit, there has to be a point where guys who weren't as far along were pulled. Maybe that opens the door for some midcard WCW or ECW figures? These aren't related to the concussion lawsuit, but Isaac Yankem and Bob Backlund are two characters with legitimate ties to the Elite line in the past year. They were more in the Elite 50-51 range, though.

Nope. I've got enough Reigns and Cenas and Ambroses, which is who'd be in those spots if it weren't for Flashbacks.

Not at all. I think sometimes Mattel is reaching with releasing a new Elite of someone on the current roster because their look hasn't changed much. If they're just going to give someone on the current roster a new shirt or a new accessory, does it really need its own release? I like seeing Flashbacks because it's likely a more unique figure I don't own in any way, i.e., Brutus Beefcake and Mankind, as opposed to seeing yet another similar looking Roman Reigns and John Cena taking up all the hooks at a store, not leaving room for more unique figures.

I personally don't collect flashbacks (mainly because they have yet to make any that I'm interested in) but I absolutely think they deserve a place in each line.
I'm more interested in fresh faces but I'm aware that kind of faces in the line that I'd want to see (Drew Gulak, Noam Darr, Ember Moon, Peyton Royce, etc) probably aren't huge priorities for Mattel (unfortunately for me haha).

I'm very happy with the current mix. Something for everyone. I started with a very specific time period in Legebds and Flashbacks, but eventually was pulled in by Rusev and Paige. Now I'm game for new and old.

I prefer 1 to 2 flashbacks per elite series given I am older and there are still quite a few they have not made figures for yet. I don't mind the flashback jobbers if that means less repeat Elites of modern superstars with just color scheme changes (Roman, Cena ...).

Every point the OP makes is incorrect. We get more than enough of the current roster.
