With scalping poor distribution over saturated market of only a select few guys and limited quantity of new faces and limited release dates and number of case per item plus a desire to re release older guys decreasing original value is it not as fun anymore jumping through hoops and watching your collection grow maybe 10-20 a year. max curious on your thoughts

It's become more stressful than fun for sure. Distribution for store exclusives should not be this bad. I would even enjoy collecting more if everything was just made available to Ringside. Still haven't found TNF Series 2 once. I'm over store exclusives.

Agreed. I threw in the towel last year. Just waiting for more Hogan figures.

I have reduced my collecting to thrift shops and stores like 5 below where elites are affordable. But finding these at any of the mentioned retailers are a gamble.

With so many figures now exclusive to only one store, and the distribution to those stores being as poor as it is....yeah, collecting seems more like a chore than a fun hobby.

And just to add another kick in the teeth, Lets say you do end up paying a lot for a certain figure. Only to have them show up in discounter retail store IE Five Below, Big Lots, Ollies, TJ Maxx etc. I was thinking about this the other day. Look at resurrected Mego line, this company wasn't selling toys from 1983 up until the middle of last year. How in the f**k can they resurrect themselves and already have 3 waves of EXCLUSIVE to Target figures out? They are always stock, the product sells they restock, they push out a new wave it's in stores. Mattel has been around longer and putting out product consistently for over 70 years and still cant get it right? Anyone who says distribution isn't up to Mattel, ok well it should be priority. I'm wondering if contacting WWE would help, you know damn well they aren't ones to leave any money on the table. I've never seen a major company who has has product that people want and don't try to ensure it gets to the people with cash in hand.

Store exclusives can be a pain that’s for sure. Other than that I’m really enjoying collecting right now. I’m a little selective on what I buy and I know that helps me a lot with not getting too overwhelmed with finding everything. I don’t have too many rules with what characters or eras to buy or not buy, I just buy what I like when I have the money to (I’m a broke college student).

With a lot of consumers switching to online buying, store exclusives seem counter productive. At least in my case, they aren't doing a damn thing to get my butt into stores I don't otherwise shop at. I haven't bought a single one unless it showed up online at a reasonable second market price. I'm getting by just fine with the main elite line and non-exclusive specialty lines like EG and EM that you can get from RSC or Amazon.

I haven’t had an issue. Flashback series 3 may have been hit or miss at stores but they showed up online frequent enough making it easy to obtain the entire set. Found HOC series 3 in stores but they also popped up online often enough for those with distribution issues in their area to get them. As far as Backlund, Sherri, Dunne, Takeover, etc. everyone wants to complain because they think that they won’t be able to find them but I don’t think judgment should be passed until they actually start coming out.

It's not as fun as it once was. I am not quite ready to give up yet though. The store exclusives will hopefully be easy to find. We should know soon.

The last figure I bought was Ron Simmons. Every time I go to Walmart and see elites I just can’t justify paying $20 for them anymore. I just don’t have the passion for this anymore. And I think the constant exclusives and chases (which I wanted five years ago but not anymore) and now store exclusives in the main line (which I know my retailers are gonna skip, even though that E66 thing was fake I know it’s gonna actually happen) and even if they do get them in, either another collector will get them first or a scalper will get them and charge three times as much. It really just isn’t worth the hassle for me anymore since I don’t even watch current WWE anymore. I’ve been having more fun occasionally buying older video games and hard to find Xbox 360 accessories off eBay.

Try being a Canadian and collecting wrestling figures, then you will see how hard it truly is!

I only purchase what makes sense to me. I was an 80’s kid so golden era figures will find their way into my collection provided they are available online or at retail. King Harley Race still eludes me.
I’m also a huge MMA fan so Shamrock, Ronda, Shayna and soon to be Matt Riddle will also be part of my collection.
But I don’t NEED any of these things. They want to make this hard to collect, hard to find...so be it. I don’t need it. I’ll still wake up tomorrow.

I find it rather simple. So much so, I can do most of it from my computer chair. I don't even have to put pants on if I feel like free balling it. That's my choice. 90% of the product is available on Ringside for a few extra dollars. And it comes to my doorstep. Not sure how much easier it can be.

Yup - In many trips,.. I never saw hoc 3 in stores besides one Ron Simmons one time. I saw hoc2 once. I saw flashback 3 and 2 once.
I don’t buy the regular elite line (since no flashbacks) but from what I see on shelves it doesn’t look fun trying to find those. Buying online through amazon is a chore the way they make stock available. Once I actually had a figure I wanted in my cart and backed out because after shipping it was $27 for the one figure. I made the choice to find it in store or risk never seeing/owning it. I never saw it once on a shelf (hoc3 Kane). Backlund was so easy and convenient on wwe shop but now I worry Sherri will be stressful to find so I’m trying to convince myself that I don’t care enough about it if it’s a headache. Brickseek isn’t as useful as it used to be.
They are making less and less I’m interested anyways but I feel like I’ll have to visit retail stores just as much if not more to get the few I want. At some point I’ll just stop trying.
**Thank God I’ll be able to preorder king Mabel thru rsc. I wish I could get Sherri from them too.

Nope. I still preorder my “must have” figures just like I always have. And I have never not found a figure at least twice once they hit retail which was the same with Jakks. I have always had to deal with local scalpers which is something we have been dealing with since at least Jakks TTL days. So there’s no difference there. And oversatuation of certain wrestlers has always been the norm. It used to be Bret, HBK, Austin, Rock, Triple H, Undertaker. Now it’s this era’s popular wrestlers. So no I don’t see any difference.

I've REALLY cut back on my Mattel figure buying, anymore I only buy Flashback/legends themed figures and they have cut those back so much that I barely have that much to buy. I've filled that collecting hole with saving money and buying some Marvel Legends exclusives I passed on back in the past couple of years.
