With WWE being in NY the past week, I've seen plenty of pics around Instagram with these "fans" hanging outside a hotel in NY taking selfies with the superstars or whoever they come across. It seems utterly pathetic to me, that you'd first off find out where they're staying, and secondly actually camp out outside the hotel bothering these guys for pics. What's everyone's take on this?

It is absolutely pathetic, and I can't understand how some "fans" think of it as acceptable behaviour, with some even thinking that they're entitled to stalk the wrestlers simply because they're celebrities!
Yes, celebrities know what they're getting into and understand that they're going to be scrutinised. But that doesn't mean they deserve to have their privacy disturbed because of people who claim to be "fans".
If these "fans" want an autograph so badly, then they should hang around for them at the arena, or attend autograph signings. They should not be tracking them down at their hotel. After they've left the show, wrestlers are just normal people and are entitled to their privacy when they're not performing. "Fans" are not entitled to disturb their privacy.

This is why I feel sorry for some wrestlers. It's a total invasion of privacy. They also do this at airports, restaurants & gyms. Too bad the hotels didn't have a "no loitering" policy.

I hate it but that's the price of fame and whatnot. I would never do it. I've seen plenty of celebrities in Chicago in public and whatnot and I would never bother them. It's their personal time. I once was jogging on the lakefront and Vince Vaughn was walking towards me, he actually said hello first just being nice and that's the only time I stopped and said "hey man, you're awesome". He smiled and said thanks! And then I just went back to jogging.
But yeah, seeing those horrible airport pictures with wrestlers after they just got off their 6th plane that week and it's early or late and they look so tired, if you just happen to be there and not stalking them, just give them a nod or a thumbs up, they would much more appreciate that instead of "Hey, let's take 410 selfies!!!"

Nope this thread won’t go well. It never goes well. You’re been here long enough to know where this will go.

I personally don't do this, but I understand why some do. For many, going to something like WrestleMania takes a lot of effort and money, and if they have a chance at getting a random autograph from someone outside a hotel, I don't think there's any harm from it. If wrestlers don't want to engage, they can keep on walking. Some wrestlers did stuff like this before they became part of WWE (Justin Roberts talks about that in his book). I think a lot of wrestlers, especially the newer ones, would be over the moon to think that their fans want to meet and interact with them. As long as it's done in a respectable way, asking for a picture/autograph in PUBLIC is fine. The wrestlers know WrestleMania week is crazy, and appreciating the fans is what it's all about.

yep, it’s a brutal practice. but it doesn’t surprise me in the least considering things like Black Friday sales, etc. most people really, really suck.

I did this once by accident when I was 15. For WCW BatB (the one where Hogan pinned Jarrett and Booker won his first WCW title), I was staying at the Adam's Mark Hotel. Just so happened to be the one where wrestlers were staying. I got a lot of autographs and photos in the lobby. Looking back, I feel bad. But as a teen who just happened to be staying there, I don't think what I did was wrong. If they said no, that was the end of it. I'd ask once, and they had the decision to go or not.
All the Nitro Girls were pleasant. As were David Flair and Stacy Keibler. Konnan kept wanting do overs because he thought he blinked. The only ones who said no were Steiner and Van Hammer.
Have I done that since? Nope. Never was that "lucky" to book the same hotel as the wrestlers. Would I actively hunt them down? Nope. And now with the amount of cons out there, there is absolutely no reason to.

I feel like unless it's an autograph signing or a meet-and-greet, leave these Superstars alone.
Don't bother them in the gym, the airport, the supermarket, while they are eating; don't stalk them at their hotels/airports. They are not on the clock at that time.

I've never done it but it doesn't bother me at all. You can wait for wrestlers in a hotel lobby and still be a respectful fan. Just like you can pay to meet them and still be a giant douche cookie to them, which I've seen multiple times over. We've seen members on here take their kids to hotels, be respectful, and those kids get tons of pictures looking happy as hell. This is literally one of the dumbest things to care about on Earth when it has virtually no affect on your life.

No. But if I randomly saw Ambrose swaggering down the street with his hoodie and chewing gum I'd say "why Dean why?" Lol.

I'd never do it myself. If they aren't hurting anyone then I don't care, though they obviously cross the line sometimes. For whatever reason, I find it more acceptable than bothering them in an airport or while they're eating. Or when clearly in downtime with their family. Ultimately I don't like it, but I don't think it's a horrible injustice. Wrestlers can blow past them if the want.
