Ill never forget the moment as well. I was watching at my best friends house and we were completely stunned. Favorite match has to be vs. Bret at WM X. To this day still the greatest opening match in wrestling history imo, an absolute technical clinic. Who could forget the spit in the corner of Owen's mouth haha. The tribute the next Monday was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever witnessed.

I'm sold simply on the fact that there are real guard rails!

1992
Also 1997 and 1998 have a soft spot as they both were fantastic years and easily rotate with 1992 depending on my mood

I don't really get the fealing that the match was cut for time, I just think that it was the story they wanted to tell with it.
Im not going to cry about it. I like Bryan and I think this is really going to continue to evolve his heal character. He is going to be ruthless running down AJ now which should garner pretty big heat.

I really think if everything fell into place for wrestlemania 8, it could have been one of the best of all time.
Hogan vs Flair (WWF Title) Savage vs Roberts Taker vs Sid Bret vs Piper (IC Title) HBK vs Marty Jannetty Money Inc vs LOD (Tag Titles)
Still a great Mania and we got Flair/Savage which is one of my favorite fueds of all time.

Great thread!
I remember there were two video stores near me that had all the videos back in the day.
My all time favorite was the Demolition home video.
I also enjoyed the "Wrestling Classic". My brother owned it so it was always around. I wore that one out.

There is a reason people still talk about it....it's a timeless classic. Why even bother to open the thread and complain about it if you dont care?
I'd also like some information about this, I tried to skim through the No Mercy thread but was just overwhelmed its length

The real problem is that all the great stars got to the top themselves. The crowd should be the one dictating who is a world champion, but now we have them throwing the belt on whoever is the flavor of the month.
It seems todays fans want to just throw a title on a guy because he either came from the indies or simply for the fact that they have been with the company for a while. There is nothing wrong with being mid/upper card for life – in the past that was a great job to have. Not everyone can be in the same realm as Cena/Orton and that is fine.
People seem to whine about Taker and Triple H but they get by far way bigger pops than everyone else on the roster and Id gladly watch them over 98% of the rest of the roster. If you have the young guys going over all the time it makes the wins meaningless. I feel like the older guys should keep their spots for a long time because when they are defeated then it will actually be a big deal for the first time champion. Wrestlers used to have to be in the business for 10 years working their way up the card to finally win a world title, now you have to be in FCW for a few years, win MITB and you are a “champion”. It makes it pretty meaningless.

Its a shame that they didn't headline WM16 (2000) in a singles match. true.but Backlash 2000 was booked so perfectly it totally eclipsed the lacklustre ME and result of WM2000. Exactly. Just imagine how much more it would be remembered if it was at WM! Oh well just a missed opportunity. What a bad WM that was. One of the worst of all time id probably say.

That along with Piper/Hogan at WM1 and Hogan/Flair (Though Savage/Flair was one of my all time fav fueds and a fantastic match) at WM 8 were the ones that should have been WM Main Events that were blown imo

I agree regarding Bryan. I know he was great on the indies and is a skilled wrestler who people cream themselves over but he just screams mid to upper mid-card to me. Seeing him try to cut promos to silence is hard to watch from a champion. I really hope Mark Henry gets the title back before WM. I actually like Bryan but there should be no shame in being an upper mid-carder.
The thing I dont get with fans today is that is apparently a bad thing if you aren't a world champion. There are a multitude of legends of the past that were not world champions who are better than pretty much everyone on the roster today. Not everyone can be a champion, but fighting over the US/IC title should be treated as a big deal. It seems like fans think that if you have been around for a long time on the indies or have been in the wwe for 10 years you should just be handed a world title due to your service.

I just stumbled across this board a few days ago and just wanted to say I love the classics discussion going on here.
Started watching in early 92 and watched every ppv prior to that numerous times on vhs as a kid.
As for the topic, one that hasn't been said and is def an all-timer for me is when Undertaker threw Mankind off the top of the cell trough the table at KOTR 98. I was in utter shock! Foleys tooth coming through his lip was just the icing on the cake.
