I heard this interview awhile back. I understand his frustrations. Ebayers ruin it for the fans. And I have no issue with someone saying that they want to sell autos on ebay, eventhough I dont see how they can make money considering the expenses in travel/merchandise. They have as much right to an autograph as a little kid, as me or as an elderly man. Its just pretty common knowledge that wrestlers, some more than others, cannot stand when someone is getting something signed just to they can go sell it on ebay and make a buck. Maybe thats why I have been lucky enough to be able to have some of the guys sign multiples for me, cuz they know that I am a fan and not an ebayer. Dont you have an ebay account and sell signed autographs?!?!?! You do! I have seen you sell a Jeff Hardy autograph and WWE events ring tickets. So how are you any different from the guys he is talking about? You ebay and you sell autographs.

Ive sold Auto's of people before. I had 2x the same Jeff Hardy signed So I sold one. I made sure to sell a fair price though.

I agree fully with every single thing that Punk said. I wouldn't bother him unless it was in some occasion where he didn't seem busy. The only time I approached a wrestler outside of the ring was at the gym I saw Orlando Jordan and he was at the front desk asking for directions to the hotel. I helped him find where to go, politely asked for an autograph after and was on my way.

That's from the Colt Cabana podcast...And He's 100% right... those people who bring 3+ things to get signed. And even more... those who wait at airports and hotels. Unless you're supposed to be there too, then don't go.

How about if you dont like people or being recognised as a wrestler dont become one. The fans pay his wages so if hes nasty to them then its only going to affect him in the long run. he's a human being. Would you like someone you dont know coming up to you at a restaurant interupting your dinner and saying hey hows it going can you sign my napkin? Thye're not your buddy and they shoudl be afforded privacy once in awhile. Punk makes a good point.

But how do we or even CM know who the ebayers are and aren;t. That I know of, most ebayers don't post a picture of themselves. Maybe he just think that's what they are doing becasue the sme people show up anywhere in any given radius of cities.

Ok you are a scalper then to be honest. What you consider a "fair price" may not be someone elses fair price. I mean if you went to an autograph session and got things signed that you paid for would you sell it for what you got it for? If thats the case if you were to see a wrestler and got the autograph for free are you going to give it away since you technically didnt pay for it? Thats fair but if you tack on a price that you feel is what you are owed on top of what you paid for the item its scalping. dictionary.reference.com/browse/scalping Scalp verb (used with object) a. to resell (tickets, merchandise, etc.) at higher than the official rates.

This is actually from an interview he did with Colt Cabana, as stated in the info on youtube. The full interview, along with others can be found here: tsmradio.com/coltcabana/page/2/On a slightly unrelated note, highly recommend the show. Sorta sucks that this guy ripped this from Colt's site. Cheer for the link, man. I've been looking for it everywhere.

I totally agree with him. I've seen some people over here approach wrestlers in such rude fashion such as whilst they're eating, talking to someone or on the phone to someone. It's just common sense to know what is rude and what isn't. I'm smart enough to know that and to never have overstepped my bounds.

punk is totally right. i remember when i ran into skip sheffield, darren young, and heath slater at mohegan sun. i just shook their hand said "great job out there" and we went our separate ways. i saw them like 10 minutes later taking pics with a bunch of fans in front of the restaurants that were still open. i kinda wanted to go up and get a pic with them which they clearly would have agreed to but i figured that they looked like they wanted to get something to eat and i had already gotten a handshake before so i didnt wanna go back up to them and ask for something. i also remember last year my uncle told my cousin that he was trying to get one of the New York Knicks to come to his restaurant to meet my cousin (my cousin is a huge Knicks fan btw). so that night my cousin was talking to me about it and he was like "oh if he comes im gonna grab a pen and paper and just have him write his name on the paper like 100 times. ill keep one and rip up the paper and sell the rest." i was like "wow thats a real scumbag move. if u did that to me i wouldnt sign at all. i go out of my way to come meet u cuz i hear ur a big fan and the first thing u think about is making money off me?" he ended up never coming but i thought that would have been really bad.

I certainly understand him wanting privacy, but quite frankly, if I was sitting on an airplane and he sat down next to me, I'm definitely going to ask for an autograph. I have his autograph and used to talk to him from WAY back in the day (before his ROH days even -- even before his IWA days), so he *might* remember me, but I doubt it. I've had situations before where I've walked into restaurants and seen wrestlers sitting down. This happened with Chris Jericho way back in the day. After a show in the area, a friend and I went to a restaurant and he was sitting down, eating with some guy (don't know who the guy was). I was pretty excited to see him outside of the ring, but even at 16 years old, instead of running over and interrupting his meal, we just sat down. My friend kept pestering me to go over and get his autograph, but I kept saying, "No, that's rude." Eventually I looked over and saw that he was looking around the restaurant - it was like 10pm, so there weren't many people. He looked in my direction so I smiled and waved at him. He smiled back. I thought that'd be it, but when he was done with his meal he actually came over to my table and said hi to us. I thought that was pretty cool. He asked if we had been to the show and if we had fun -- just the usual stupid smalltalk, but it was still cool of him to come over and say hi, I thought. Then he took a picture with us and left. So yeah, I guess the moral of the story is that if you're NOT rude and just let the wrestlers know you're a fan without being obnoxious and bothering them, they might even go out of their way to say hi to you. That's awesome... but that's Jericho or at the very least, one instance. I would assume most veterans look down on fans that can't control their composure, which is a travesty, as stardom should humble most but it doesn't.

Dont you have an ebay account and sell signed autographs?!?!?! You do! I have seen you sell a Jeff Hardy autograph and WWE events ring tickets. So how are you any different from the guys he is talking about? You ebay and you sell autographs. Yes I have an ebay account and yes I sell SOME signed autos. Did I sell a Jeff Hardy auto? Yes I did. I had a WWE IC Title signed by Jeff AT A PAID SIGNING! No wrestler gives a damn if you sell something you got at a paid signing. Its when you ask them for a freebie and they extend that gift, then you sell it. I also have a few TNA autos up for sale from the last round of house shows I was at. Why? Because I PAID FOR THEM! And look at the prices. $10 for a signed TNA 8X10 of Jeff Jarrett? Ummm....the unsigned promo cost $5. And selling WWE tickets? So what? WTF does that have to do with this topic? I scalp tickets. I scalp action figures. I'll scalp just about anything. But I dont scalp my autos. Its not my thing. I'm appreciative when someone gives me one for free. And they arent worth much anyway. I heard this interview awhile back. I understand his frustrations. Ebayers ruin it for the fans. Maybe he just think that's what they are doing becasue the sme people show up anywhere in any given radius of cities. Unless you travel in certain circles, you really cant tell. Some of the scalpers do post their pics up and they are in them. Most do not. I know they are scalpers b/c they clearly state it and are proud of it. I'll say it again. They have every right to do as they please. For me personally, I dont do it and wont help them either. I dont agree with it. But to each their own. The only thing that upsets me is how they upset the wrestlers. Most scalpers are relentless, unappreciative and travel in packs. Tips on spotting one the next time you are at a hotel or airport. 8X10s. If they are have stacks of 8x10s and are trying to get the exact same 8x10 signed more than once.......good chance they are a scalper. Scalpers dont get programs, chairs, posters, etc. generally signed. They are usually getting figures or 8X10s. They travel in packs. Most scalpers come with a team of 3-4 additional people in order to get as many as they can. If you see 3-4 people with the same 8X10 and they are hanging together....good chance they are a scalper. Also look for someone getting something signed and then a flash going off, as the wrestler is signing it. Its VERY important they have someone taking a photo for them so they can get picture proof of the item being hand signed. And last scalpers are generally the guys shoving their way to the wrestler, jumping in front of others, etc. They are relentless. They must ensure they get their things signed and consider a missed auto as a missing dollar.

You are right, they do technically have as much right at a kid, but why should he waste his personal time (when he is tired, etc.) signing for somebody just so they can make a profit? Its a lot easier to be nice to somebody if they are genuinely excited to meet you.

CM Punk needs to call the Waambulance. You're a WWE wrestler, You're on tv, take photos and autographs with your fans, I've personally met him and the guy is a tool.

I agree with him.
If I was someone famous and someone wanted an autograph, I'd personalize it, because I'd like to think people are less likely to buy an autograph to John when their name is Steve.

Want to know why this interview sucks?
It's too short. I still love listening to the shoot DVDs I have of Punk and Cabana, as well as Punk and Joe. All three guys are just great to listen to. Funny, interesting, good story tellers, the whole thing.

Glad I'm not the only who thinks that Punk comes off sounding like a complete jerk. I think even Colt was surprised, to the extent where even he had to justify why Punk ignores fans at the end of the interview. Definitely not someone I would shout a beer
