@ Punksnotdead. When i said pretending, i meant HHH makes himself out to be more than what he is. Bad choice of words on my part, my bad.

1. Not saying I agree with him, by the way. 2. 'only kids like John Cena' is far from a fact anyway. 3. You saying that Triple H pretends he is an icon when he's not is pretty damn delusional too.Just reading through the thread though, this is more proof that people just can't handle it when they totally clash on something. I never said that, that was how rkorton interpreted what I wrote. Although, I am willing to say Triple H is more Legend than Icon, and there is a difference imo. And what can't we handle? I think Punk is good, I think Triple H is good, when all is said and done I think Punk will be regarded as better. That's my opinion. He thinks Punk is a generic soda and that Triple H is the Rolls Royce of pro wrestling, I think that's crazy. I think the CM Punk love around here still drives you up a wall, so you're not exactly an unbiased mediator on this subject. And to Hart Attack, DX was amazing, it was better when it was HHH and Shawn (97/98) imo, but they were still amazing. I'm not taking anything away from Triple H, but DX was right place, right time. CM Punk doesn't have the luxury of being a superstar during the height of professional wrestlings popularity, Triple H did. So you saying he had this match against this guy, and that match against this other guy over here does nothing for me. All I can do is compare two guys under the context of evaluating how I personally feel about their individual skill. Punk has had plenty of great moments, winning MITB twice, his WHC heel runs, his feud with Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, and John Cena. CM Punk is cementing his legacy as we speak. However CM Punk right now, in my opinion, is better than Triple H was in 2000. Punk just doesn't have the name value of opponents to feud with because guys like Cody and Ziggler are still coming along. I'm not trying to convince you to be a CM Punk fan, but that 6/27/11 promo will be remembered in wrestling history for a long time, as will CM Punk. I would get comfortable with the idea that he is going to be the man, and when all is said and done his name is going to be right there with Triple H and guys who were better than Triple H. And I will put CM Punk's match against John Cena at MITB against any Triple H match in his career. I honestly think Triple H has had some incredible matches, his mid card stuff with Rock, his WWF Title stuff against Foley, and definitely his 02-04 matches with HBK, but Punk's matches with Jeff Hardy and Mysterio are on the level of Triple H's stuff from 99/00 imo, and his early stuff with JoMo and even William Regal is not to be discredited. Both guys are great, great, talents, and I think you will see before long that Punk is going to fall into the same breath as the Triple H's of the wrestling world. My bad. p.s. CM Punk is right up there with my favorites, I have no problem understanding the love for him. But calling each other delusional because you have different opinions, it's typical of this place.

@ Punksnotdead. When i said pretending, i meant HHH makes himself out to be more than what he is. Bad choice of words on my part, my bad. No worries, and yeah that's what I figured. I agree with it too. I sort of look at Triple H's pursuit of passing Ric Flair's World Title record as an example of his mind set. I think Triple H honestly believed he needed that record so that everyone would know he was on Flair's level or better than Flair, which I don't think he ever got there personally. Triple H is great, but he isn't Ric Flair.

While I don't want to see Triple H/Taker again this is just another way for Triple H to find his way into the WWE Title picture and get that big WrestleMania payday. I seriously hate Triple H. The guy has been in way too many title matches ever since 2002! Leave him out of the Title match.

Triple H vs Punk and NOC was actually quite good, a rematch at Mania would be no different. CM Punk doesn't deserve to ever go over the game though, Triple H is the real best in the world. Fact.

I am going to put and end to all of this Triple H .Vs CM Punk crap.
In terms of memorable matches, promos and star power Triple H > CM Punk as of today. But this isn't taking anything away from CM Punk. He's great in the ring, has great mic skill but doesn't have the length of the career yet of Triple H or the high profile feuds that The Game has had over the last decade plus.Punk is just now getting a legit shot at the main event. This debate is pretty point less as of today.Come back in ten years or so and then when both men or retired or nearing so we call look at their body of work and compare the two.
On a side note Triple H is not on the level of Austin,Rock,Hogan,Flair,Michaels...ect aka not in the top ten of all time but is without a doubt still a legend and one of the all time greatest, but again not on their level.

I hate how people act like Triple H has no ability and without Steph he'd be a curtain-jerker. Meanwhile he can be over as a face or a heel, serious or comedy, yet he gets trashed cause the internet says so. And if he was in such dire need to pass Flair he would have done it a long time ago. So obviously it's not something he's aiming for.
People complained they didn't want HHH vs Taker 3, and now we might not, yet they're complaining. So should Punk wrestle Zack Ryder, Jericho, & Christian in a fatal four way while Triple H locks up with Alicia Fox? Give me a break already.
Personally I like both HHH & Punk and think they could put on a great match at Wrestlemania. And i also like the idea of Jericho versus Undertaker. I like it cause both are fresh match ups we haven't had at a Wrestlemania before.

What more NEEDED to be done with HHH/Punk in the past?
Triple H's involvement riding Punk's wave out of Money in the Bank was so obviously HHH wanting to be in that spotlight.

The main matches I want to see are Punk/Jericho, Taker/Orton, Bryan/Regal, and Rhodes/Rhodes. I don't know how many of these will happen, but they would all make me happy.

I can see this easily being the card:
Rock vs. Cena Punk vs. HHH (C) (WWE Title) Barrett v. Orton v. Bryan (WHC Match) Jericho vs. Taker Shaq vs. Show (same stip as the Mayweather match) Ziggler vs. Foley (Hardcore Match) Kharma vs. Glamazon (Divas Title) Kofi/Del Rio/Miz/Truth/Rhodes/Henry/Christian/Brodus or Ryder Sheamus vs. Kane (Belfast Brawl)
9 matches, and with good booking could be the best Mania ever

If they are going to go with Triple H vs Punk then Triple H has to turn heel. And also align with Johnny Ace, Steph, & eventually Vince. I want Punk vs the WWE Brass with Punk somehow coming out on top.
Punk wants change while the Brass wants a safer family friendly WWE. It has potential to be great if the make it a real personal feud between Hunter & Punk. Can't wait!

Honestly Punk vs. HHH will be horrible especially if it means HHH wins the rumble. Punk needs to face the Rumble winner and it needs to be someone on the cusp of being a main-eventer ie. Sheamus, Barrett etc. I don't think CM Punk lasts until Wrestlemania as Champion. I think he obviously beats Dolph Ziggler at the Royal Rumble....but having him win the Elimination Chamber and staying Champion for 2 more months with his only real feud right now being against Johnny Ace? I don't see it happening. If CM Punk is in a title match at Wrestlemania, it will be as a challenger, not the Champion. I was thinking maybe Ziggler beats Punk at Rumble, and Punk wins it back at Elimination Chamber. It writes itself. Laurinitis won't "screw" Punk, but he may turn a blind eye "accidentally" to Ziggler pulling the tights or something, something Ziggler does. It furthers Big Johnny/Punk's story, gets Ziggler over, and leads right in with a storyline for the next PPV. A ppv where the champion(Ziggler) has a one in six chance of winning. Its in the chamber so Johnny won't be able to get involved, and Punk wins, so the chamber's claim of the champion having such a little chance of staying champion stays true.
