Unpopular wrestling game opinions you have.

I think a career/story mode in these games accomplishes its goal. I feel as though it's meant to be a one-time play, but that one time is fun because you don't know what it's about, and sometimes there actually are easter eggs in there.

Only reason I would have wanted that version was because CAWs had twice as many layers as the PS2 version and all of the best CAW makers back then seemed to jump ship at the time.

In Universe Mode, the initial idea to have the game decide certain things for you made sense, if they were planning on doing a game in the future without that feature.

The games from WWE 2K16 - WWE 2K19 are the best WWE games to date. The matches are FUN! The reversal caps makes gameplay more strategic and helps with pacing, the Pin/Sub mini-games are actual games that you can succeed at even with heavy damage meaning matches can end up like Michaels/Taker or a Gargano NXT Takeover bout. There's more moves than ever, the Creation Suite is at it's best, Community Creations is very useful, the A.I is pretty aggressive and usually smart and there's Personality traits the A.I follows. 2K19 specifically is a masterpiece and even if you like unlimited reversals, no weight detection and button mashing Submissions you have the options to switch to those. People get way into the branding of the games, worrying about the title of the game or the name of the Publisher; those things don't really matter (unless the publisher isn't going to put money in the production but obviously 2K does, the developer is more important as we seen with 2K20 which didn't have Yukes).

A lot of people mention No Mercy and Here Comes The Pain as the greatest but I honestly think a lot people hype those games up because that's the last time they were really REALLY into Wrestling and Here Comes The Pain represents that last little breath of the Attitude Era/Monday Night Wars era with the WCW guys being in their first game. Fast forward to SvR 09 and there's no Austin, Rock, Hogan, Steiner, Lesnar, RVD, Booker T and lapsed fans will FOREVER do the "It used to be so much better when I was a kid" spiel even if the actual mechanics of the games eventually got better around SvR2011 or WWE 12 and kept going (excluding 2K15 and 2K20).

(HCTP and No Mercy are/were great though, they just don't really hold a candle to more recent games that's all. Monumental for their time.)
