I'm 18 years old, just got back into collecting several months ago (now at about 20 figures). I sometimes look at my displayed figures and wonder whether or not i should continue to collect just based on the fact that prices are increasing (Especially for figures i missed out on over the past couple of years), and if i should be spending my money on other things more important for my future, etc. Do you guys ever feel like you're wasting money? What do you do to get rid of these thoughts to keep on collecting?

I'm having a lot of fun with the line and that's what collecting should be I think. There is quite a bit of variety and it's easy to be overwhelmed sometimes. I don't collect any other toy lines and haven't bought figures since the BCA days until I started again with Mattel. If your having doubts about things maybe you should pull the reigns in a bit and evaluate things maybe I don't know.

Welp, im not 18 anymore. My 5 year old plays with them. I buy an extra for moc sometimes but I am established so it's not a waste for me. If I was 18 I wouldn't collect.

I've got thousands worth. Let go of some, then got drilled by eBay prices to get em back. In a lot of people's eyes, I waste money. Hell, I do spend too much on figures. It's just one of those things

Often, I try not to buy anything I don't terribly want anymore.

I never did until Mattel took over and the value of Jakks figures plummeted. I didn't stop collecting, though. I just bought more wisely. No repaints unless it was a major upgrade, plus I saved a ton of money by not having to buy parts to fix up the laziness like I did with jakks. Also, I don't go nuts and preorder figures anymore. With patience, I've used Amazon or retail to avoid over paying for a figure I wanted.

I know I've spent thousands in just a year and a half I've been collecting. Sometimes I have this inkling of what I could've done with that money(ala putting it into restoring my car) when I sit and look at all the figures I've gained in a short amount of time but it's something I've come to love as a leisure time activity and don't mind. My bills are paid and my just turned two year old is well taken care of...

Just collect responsibly. Know what your budget is. Take care of necessities first. I just really started collecting a couple months ago. I try to utilize deals and such tonget the figs i want. Yes, when i look at my collection it is a big price tag, but thats the nature of it. Its all about happiness man, just be reaponsible with it. I try not to buy multiples of certain wrestlers. Thats why i love the basics figs. Once again, you can continue to collect as long as your wise about it. Dont dump all your earnings into figs so you will be left in debt and such.

Sometimes I do, but the thing I tell myself is to have a specific type of figure to collect. For instance, I mainly collect legends/old school figures with a few current superstars that I'm a fan of. For instance, I focus on the Flashbacks, and if it's someone I don't have a huge attachment to, I don't have to get him right away, or don't get too many duplicates unless it's different enough to warrant a pickup (Ultimate Warrior is a good example of this).
Also, don't go overboard with spending. Something is only worth what you're willing to pay. Budgeting is also a key thing. If you have other hobbies, try to set aside money for them or if you collect other things, or better yet if you have more important things that need to be handled first, take care of those and keep a nest egg for hobbies. Don't feel like you have to have a figure that very moment or if you go to the store you have to leave with something. I only buy something that I have a feeling scalpers will swipe (Like the New Age Outlaws BP or E35 Earthquake)
TL;DR: Prioritize, have an idea of what you collect (Legends, current roster, specific era), and have a budget.

I do sometimes, but then I look at how awesome they look, and I forget about it.

I recently put over a hundred loose and MOC figures in bins in my basement. I'm not gonna sell them, but I've lost interest. I can barely watch Raw tonight. My walls which were filled with figures are blank now and it's kind of a weird feeling. The current product has made me lose interest mostly. Why the are Undertaker and Brock Lesnar still wrestling? Why does John Cena HAVE to be in the title picture? Do they even know what they're doing with Dean Ambrose? Why has Bray Wyatt never held a title when Erick Rowan has? Can't the Bella Twins go away? Can't they build up another monster heel diva? Why the are we even discussing The Authority 3 years after they first started? The Authority has lasted longer than The Shield has. All of it is just irritating me. All I've been doing is watching old wrestling recently and all my collection is going to be are Flashbacks and Big E.

If I wasn't buying figures, I would be buying more useless crap anyways.
