I'm 18 years old, just got back into collecting several months ago (now at about 20 figures). I sometimes look at my displayed figures and wonder whether or not i should continue to collect just based on the fact that prices are increasing (Especially for figures i missed out on over the past couple of years), and if i should be spending my money on other things more important for my future, etc. Do you guys ever feel like you're wasting money? What do you do to get rid of these thoughts to keep on collecting? I'm 5 figures in and already over 100 dollars wasted. Yeah i'm wasting the money, but I'm very specific when buying, I only buy elites, and I only buy my favorite superstars, I don't go overboard and collect entire series. In all honesty my hobby before this was collecting Jordan Sneakers and Nintendo Games, Sneakers cost me 200 a pop and Games were 40 dollars each, so for me this is the most inexpensive hobby I have ever had. Looking at those figures just reminds me why I collect them, and if you're ever in need of money just sell a really rare figure. Life is short and it's better than doing drugs!  That's all I bought too, I just sold around 8 pair and made almost $1000 dollars, so therefore I also had another expensive vice and still have a closet full. In more ways than one, we all have some kind of vice no matter what it is... |

first u r thinking of buying a $60-70 dollar figure and want to know the most expensive figures ppl bought and now u want to know if its a waste of money to collect. am guessing all the figures u want r expensive.

No if that's the case everything you buy is wasting money. Go out to eat? Why? Go to the food store and make it for half the price. Like going to the movies? Why? Save the gas and movie ticket prices and watch one on HBO. Everything comes with a price in life. If you have fun and enjoy it it's not really wasting money.

I think it's bad how for Christmas I got 4 Elites for £52. Now for 3 it's £54. For a complete set now it's £108, where as before it was £78.
I don't see it as a waste as I have something to show for the money spent but sometimes I think what if, etc.

Not wasting but I do try to cut back and curb my spending as they can be pretty expensive.

I do feel like I am wasting money with WWE figures sometimes. I buy WWE figures a lot less often than I used to.

Definetly felt like I've wasted money so I can waste time using this hobby
If I put that money towards a car or something, I'm sure it would be close to paid off
Although.... If I put the money I spent on booze, drugs, junk food, girls etc all towards savings then I would be one very rich but bored person

Yup all the time. I don't exactly regret buying the certain figures but definitely do with my whole Jakks collection. I think I have about 300 or 400 figures. I pretty much bought all sorts of figures for expensive prices including wrestlers I never cared for. I sort of wished I would of saved the money but hey life's a lesson.

I started with Jakks last year Easter, don't know why and have TONS of them now. I switched to Mattel this past January and want to get rid of my Jakks so bad but just can't decide on how I wanna go about doing it... |
