The way I look at it... it sure beats buying cigarettes, drugs, or prostitutes.

I have had these feelings several times. I've stopped collecting and sold my collection several times and have to go back and pay eBay prices to get them back. Advice to you from me is slow down don't buy figures for a while but whatever you do don't sell. Most likely you will have the itch in a year to get back into it and will be kicking yourself over selling.

Just don't obsess over any of it. Don't sweat not having each and every thing that you want. The funny thing about obsessing is you will never be content. Set your goals realistically and be happy for what you own. Every time I stress about a figure I want, I pick up a fun figure I own and forget all about the other stuff.

Money has one purpose in life, and that is to be spent. What you do with it is your business. I have two display cases filled with Championship Title Belts that cost be about the same amount of money I spent on the one Championship Title Belt that is displayed on my TV stand. Do others think it's a waste of money?? Of course they do. Would a person who calls himself King Patrick Star give a $#!+ about other people's opinions?? Of course I don't. Do whatever makes you happy, because no one else can really make you as happy as you can yourself.
The King has spoken and it was written by the Star.

I just don't see the need to move out as of now. I have good savings, and you are smart. I know most of my friends are 30 and live at home. I think it's also due to family dynamics. Most of my friends are foreigners and in most foreign countries, many live with their parents till marriage. It's typically only America that has the family dynamic in a crap hole. Maybe that is why divorce is so high and many other problems exist. Anyhow, collecting is more of a, I hate being taken advantage of dilemma by me. I live my life a certain way, women can pay for their own drinks and tickets and such and I will never be taken advantage of. I simply apply that philosophy to corporations and the toys I collect.

I'm a few years older than you so I know the feeling. I still collect and feel the same way. You are obviously not going to spend every single dollar you have on figures. Just decide which ones you want before you purchase and you will be fine. I have spent a ton of money on figs this year but I have a lot of financial support from my family and my expenses are low. Thinking about it logically could be the best advice I can give you.

Anytime I get that feeling I instantly think : "these will make me money whenever I lose interest / am in desperate need"
It's almost an investment. Pretty much like buying gold bars. But much more fun.

As a guy who just started collecting WWE figures but have been a long time collector of McFarlane Sports figs, Funko Pops and Batman figures, my advice is to only buy what you're interested in. Sometimes, something is released that looks really cool, has a bunch of hype and everyone wants it, don't get caught up in the hype. It's easy to have happen, I've been there before. Just stick with what / who you want and you'll be fine =)
Most important is to enjoy it and have fun! Make a wicked display and be proud of it!

I've been collecting for 15 years and spent thousands. The way I see it is, it's only money, you can't take it with you when you die. Spend your hard earned money on what you enjoy and don't worry about what other people think of your hobby.

I only feel bad about buying figs if it's someone I just kinda want. Like Randy Orton. Kinda like a deer hunter bagging a doe. Not gonna be mounted but there's meat for the freezer.

Not really. Very sporadically if I'm overthinking something.

Been collecting 21 years, been threw 4 failed engagements 2 battles of homelessness, 17 robberies that resulted in lots of my stuff taken, yet one thing has remained my collection, however since I'm 29 and all my family and friends have moved on I'm looking into the army and the possibility I may not come back so I have decided to part with it and if life ever gets better I may collect again but if you don't think it will give you happiness then get out before you regret more.

There will be days I'll look at my shelf and question why I ever got into collecting and regret all the money spent, then there are days where I look at my shelf and am like Damm that looks awesome and is worth every penny.
