Tbh I like it and I bet money that when it gets released, it looks better in person and in other peoples pictures
Give it time, the first pic looked mega derpy, the others look pretty good
Plus the gloves look awesome , I kind of like the t shirt torso as long as it doesn't get overused like jakks did

Youre all going to buy it anyway Of course I am. It's Sting...I preordered 2 as soon as it went up for preorder last week. Sure East Cost did show a pic of a singlet with the scorpions like that on his singlet so that takes the sting out a little (pun intended). But I can still be disappointed it isn't his more iconic singlet like B55. Although from the coatless pics I have no problem with the head (or arms especially with Dolph in this set, because Sting is still larger than Dolph)

On a side note, personally I don't think the original DM Sting head is that great of a likeness. I thought it was pretty good until I got it in hand, then after making some comparisons, I think the Jakks (modern) Sting head has a slightly better likeness, and the Toybiz/Marvel Masked Fury one is better than both of them.
I do think likenesses tend to suffer sometimes when someone has facepaint or other facial "accessories". Macho Man is another example. Everyone just sees the beard and the glasses and the hair and sees Macho Man, but I personally think beyond all that, none of the Mattel Savage heads bear much facial resemblance to the man. The Elite 23 one is the best but it's still somewhat "generic bearded man" looking.

When I first saw the pic I was disappointed but now that I keep looking at it, it has grown on me. Oh well I'll end up buying it anyways.

It looks identical to your Sting avatar directly to the side of the post. Sting isn't 30 anymore, that head is how he looks now. With that said, wtf is with that tshirt. It looks like a Jakks Sting. And Sids smiling scan is awful

Lack of care maybe. Surfer sting > current sting

Im glad people are starting to call out MattelDesignTeam, to the OP's point, not sure if its being lazy or what but I would honestly rather take a small break in the series for them to pick their crap up again rather than pumping out these series that are beginning to really look half-assed. I mean in the last year or so - E32 & E38 Daniel Bryans headscan not matching color of the rest of his body - E38 Faarooq headscan looking way off - E38 APA having sleeves on their shirts (obviously a mistake since Mattel went back and fixed it) - Having no difference between both E35 Matadores even in their scans, essentially selling the same figure as two. - E39 Sting, scan looks terrible, poor attire choice, could go on. - E37 Malenko with wrong labeling on package (United States Championship) Idk just seems like either a lot of QC problems or poor choices going on with MattelDesignTeam lately. Im not calling you out MattelDesignTeam because I dislike the product, I still very much like collecting, but for $27+shipping for figures and with prices rising, there definitely needs to be a better effort put into the product imo.

I give it 2 months before MDT delete his account. Just like every time protos get shown, people hate it before getting the actual product and loving it once they see it in person.

Matadores scans and heights are different. Not much, but thats the point. Also MDT has nothing to do with $27+shipping. Thats RSC. Amazon and retailers all offer them for 19.99 or less

I thought that sting picture needed to be stretched to see it properly.

Sting looks fine from a different angle.
I'd post it, but it has a site we're not supposed to know about watermarked on it, so I'll refrain.

I like it a lot. Sting wrestles in a shirt sometimes. I'm okay with that. I might buy two. One for modern Sting and one to head/hand swap with my extra DM for a Wolfpack Sting and a modern Sting in '97 attire. His orignal wolfpack outfit was literally just his normal black & white with a red wolfpack shirt on.
Seriously, I really like this figure. I hope they give us a modern elite with the singlet top look in the future. I'd buy two of that and headswap for a classic Sting, too.

Neither. its the lack of execution imo They have ability and bill puts a lot of effort into these figures its just sometimes its the execution that's lacking

I'm guessing you weren't collecting Jakks in 2009. They're probably going to scrap this now, due to the lack of interest from the customer. Lol, when have they ever done that before and why would they now? Just because a few people on the internet dislike it doesn't mean that nobody is going to buy it.

However, I really believe this figure is just a placeholder current Elite Sting until one is released in the WM31 BAF set (if there is one).

I think it's slightly bland, but really not that bad. There have been far worse (and many amazing) sculpts.

They have shown many many times they have the ability, the effort is lacking lately. Not saying Bill and his team aren't working hard, because surely they are. But there has been a disproportionate amount of bad decisions made recently that do not live up to the standard they set for themselves.
