I heard Saraya Knight was also pissed about it.

So the way Ric is making it sound, WWE strong armed Charlotte into talking about her dead brother. That's nice, ah what the hell, just put some pink ropes on the ring, that's what's best for business after all. Nice company, tell us another time about it being a "family"

For those wondering these are some of the quotes he made about the situation (All taken from @liveaudiowrestling):
"Obviously I have an opinion, but I'm afraid to voice it because I don't want anything to affect Ashley's career"
"I know that Hunter and Stephanie and Michael Hayes have her (Ashley) back"
"I don't think she feels she's comfortable enough to say 'no' to anything yet, she's only been up there three-months"
"If I was a fan I wouldn't like it"
And as we now know, he was NOT given warning and started crying during the segment. Flair also stated he will be at Survivor Series this Sunday in Atlanta and believes this will all be "old news."

I'm fairly certain that this has something to do with the fact that Ric Flair is currently finishing up filming his "30" ESPN documentary....
I had read a while back that Flair will be at Survivor Series, along with the ESPN cameras....
Sounds like WWE is trying to give Flair a juicy, emotional story that can play out while the ESPN cameras are rolling - the timing of this is all-too coincidental!
As for me, I'm okay with it..... I doubt Reid Flair would mind..... he' probably be happy that his name is still being used in a high-profile WWE angle.

To everybody who is comparing this to other situations where WWE have referenced real life within a story. Stop now. if you're going to compare this to anything, compare it to the thousands of other questionable moves WWE have made over the years in order to try and get a performer over. They made Nattie fart. They made Roman Reigns quote LooneyToones. They had JBL chase Mexicans across the border. There is no limit to what they'll try in order to add some extra spice to a feud. I have zero sympathy for Miss Fatty T*tjob Paige, she's far and away the worst "diva" on RAW, but I do hope that WWE realise soon that instructing this, paired with her questionable promo on SmackDown earlier this year, is doing more harm to her than it is good. Paige haters rejoice, because she won't be going over on Sunday. Not in a bazillion years, not after that promo. It was designed to package Paige as an athleticly insuperior brat, and it made Charlotte look like a pure professional by design. Hence the "you're not a champion" comment by Charlotte, that line was practically straight from creative. I'll praise Paige for some far better work on the mic lately though, she's finally found some motivation. That stark contrast can only be her downfall though, WWE want motivation 24/7, not just when she's got a feud centred around her. As enhancement for the other feuds over the previous few months, she's been abysmal. This won't be forgotten. As proven by her clean TV loss to the forever overlooked Becky Lynch in Manchester last week. I personally felt the most offensive thing said on the night was when Charlotte referenced Paige "watching her parents wrestle on TV"! That's literally like telling Steve Lombardis son that he watched his superstar dad take the wrestling world by storm in the early 90s! The Knights have barely ever been on TV! :'D Except maybe back in the World of Sport days, perhaps fat Ricky would sometimes be the one to job out to Jackie Pollo or Mick McManus if Tony 'Banger' Walsh called in sick, perhaps he got crushed in a forgotten 1986 match Vs Giant Haystacks or Shirly Crabtree... who even cares? Infact, I'd be willing to wager that the only time Ricky or Sarayas in-ring footage has ever been televised in the UK was during the 'Wrestling with the Family' documentary that focused solely on Paige signing for WWE. Whilst her horrifically overweight father, talentless brothers and cringingly immature mother sat around in their dated decored council house, blowing smoke up their own asses rying to convince WWE to offer them a Hall of Fame spot! The reality is, they are best known for promoting terribly unsuccessful "American wrestling" guild hall shows in small empty venues, and not paying the performers on the card any wages. That really irked me, the root of a lot of Paige hate (especially within this country) is the exaggeration that she essentially comes from some sort of "wrestling royalty", when she patently does not! Anybody who claims she does is an uninformed American, whom I challenge to give me a profiled description on the history of Joint Promotions. Charlotte on the other hand, her father helped build the industry globally. So the very least they could do is not reference her families biggest tragedy just to sell a few PPVs, especially considering this match is the least cared for, and has the most obvious outcome. (Unless you include Roman Reigns winning the tournament, and losing to Sheamus immediately afterwards.) Wow you seem to hold such a hatred for Paige and her family do you know them personally and did they do something which upset you? Also do you realise that wrestlers are told what to do? WWE is like a Soap Opera, the wrestlers are equal to actors who are given scripts and told what to say and who will win or lose.
Atleast in England Paige wrestled in real matches and wasn't limited to the crappy WWE style.

I don't understand how people not part of the Flair family, regular wrestling fans, can be offended by what was said on Raw. If you're not related to the Flairs, what reason is there to be offended by such comments?

Because we are all human beings with empathy who can all understand how we would feel if a company we worked for used a personal tragedy as a plot device in a poorly written segment on national television. I don't think most people are personally offended, but instead found it to be offensive to the Flair family, and to common ing decency.

Maybe is just offends their sense of decency. Maybe it is because it was a tasteless exploitation from a company with a long history of tasteless exploitation. Who knows. Something doesn't necessarily have to impact someone directly for an action to be offensive.
