WWWF Championship Wrestling August 19th, 1978 Host: Vince McMahon
Interview with Superstar Billy Graham (taped after the Spectrum show)Vince: Last week at the Philadephia Spectrum, WWWF Heavyweight Champion Superstar Billy Graham successfully defended the title against Nikolai Volkoff (Superstar appears), but I don't believe this was as shocking as it was when earlier that night, Superstar...your own brother Luke Graham won the $5000 Battle Royal and has earned the right to challenge you for the WWWF Heavyweight Championship. Superstar: I never thought in a day in my life that I'd be fighting brother Luke, I don't want to believe it in fact I don't see Luke cashing in on his title shot baby. But if this be Cain and Abel, if this be brother vs. brother, what am I supposed to say to that? In my heart I know it brings out in me more questions than answers. Everyone talks about God, Family and Work, I work hard, I'd pray hard if I got too, but family is family brother. Family is the thing that holds us together, we can fight, cry, hate, love, play whatever it may be family extends.... Wizard: (appears with Luke Graham) You talk about family, we were once like family and you betrayed that trust. Superstar: You got no business being out here, if there is something brother Luke wants to say to me he can say it. Luke: I'm out here for one reason only, and that's to ask you for a title shot for that WWWF Heavyweight Championship. Superstar paces back and forth and looks upset. Luke: Look at you pacing around, you got nothing to say to me? Are you afraid that I'll take away your fifteen minutes of fame and your precious title? Are you afraid that I'll beat you down like I did all those years ago when you were in your little diapers? Superstar: (gets angry) I got respect for you and I'll hold my self back because we got the same mother brother. But if that's what you want, you want family to turn on family, you want the whole Graham family out here and there and everywhere to split up, well that's on you brother Luke because I'll be ready for you in the ring. Luke: (slaps Superstar in the face) You don't got a chance (Superstar gets pissed as Luke and a laughing Wizard leave). Televised Matches:Spiros Arion (w/ Freddie Blassie) def. SD Jones via pinfall
Dominic DeNucci def. Johnny Rodz via submission
Dino Bravo def. Butcher Vachon via pinfall
Victor Rivera (w/ Freddie Blassie) def. Jose Estrada via pinfall

____________________________________________________________ MAIN EVENT: Superstar Billy Graham (c) vs. Luke Graham (w/Wizard) for the WWWF Heavyweight Championship in a Sicilian Stretcher Match
Superstar Billy Graham in a pre-match interview says the special stipulation (which was a real stipulation back in the 70s) is something he didn't expect to happen, but if he has to somehow end this family feud, than he'll do it tonight. Luke and Superstar go at it in the ring, wasting no time. Superstar locks in the armbar, Luke knocks him down and starts to pound on Superstar on the mat. The fighting continues in and out of the ring. Superstar gets pummeled several times till Luke grabs a chair and smashes it over Superstar's back in the ring. Superstar is down as Luke tries to get him down on the stretcher that was placed out of the ring. Superstar wakes up and goes ballistic, throwing down the stretcher and running back in the ring. Fists fly back and forth till Superstar brings Luke to a corner and lands a few blows till Luke is cut open. Luke counters an irish whip sending Superstar over the ropes. Luke runs out and starts to pound on Superstar's forehead till he starts to get cut open. Luke bites Superstar's forehead for more blood. Luke goes for another chair, but Superstar kicks him and manages to bodyslam Luke on the concrete! However a desperate Wizard grabs the chair and smashes it over Superstar's forehead! Superstar lands face first on the stretcher that was on the ground. The referee calls for the bell and it looks like MSG is about to riot. The referee makes the decision that although there are no DQ's in such a match, the Wizard's interference allows for a referee to make a decision that it's a DQ. Winner: Superstar Billy Graham via DQ to retain the WWWF Heavyweight Championship.
Luke is back up and notices Superstar down on the stretcher. In a post-match promo, Luke slams the referee and the WWWF for allowing Superstar to regain the WWWF title. Luke isn't done with his little brother and wants a rematch right away. ________________________________________________ Peter Maivia def. Butcher Vachon via pinfall.

Superstar gains the upperhand at the beginning of the match, followed by Luke getting in a few holds. The match continues on the outside and back in till Superstar gets cut open leading to the referee calling the bell. Winner: Luke Graham via Referee's Decision. Superstar retains WWWF Heavyweight title.Note: In the 70s, the WWWF Heavyweight Championship didn't change hands with a referee's decision that is made due to getting cut. Even bookers were different at major regions within a territory, so you could have a booker at Boston Garden that had nothing to do with MSG. Back in the territorial days there were state commissions and regulations (similar to how it is with boxing) regarding professional wrestling, as you can see, it made sense for Vince Jr to transition to "Sports Entertainment" years later.

WWWF Championship WrestlingOctober 28th, 1978 Host: Vince McMahon Superstar interview (in a small venue with fans):Vince: I would like to welcome at this time the WWWF Heavyweight Champion, Superstar Billy Graham (whos up and flexes his biceps), who has been successfuly defending his championship gold against Luke Graham, his own brother. Many of your fans Superstar, are asking what's next for the heavyweight champion? Superstar: Let me tell you something brother, in this very ring, it's like a volcano, erupting the power, erupting the charisma, erupting with the Superstar who is taking on everyone and everybody. All it takes is me to squeeze a man till he spits and chokes, make him holla, make him cry like a baby! Give me a name and I take him on because I'm the man and the man is the man! Vince: No one would dare question your...(suddenly Freddie Blassie appears) wait just a minute here now. Blassie: Let me explain something here, what I saw, these past few months is a man who has lost something. A man who is missing something special to surround him and protect his Heavyweight title belt. I'm talking about a man who needs a manager, a manager who knows the ins and outs, who knows what goes on in the back, and man who would have your back...that's right Superstar think about it, a partnership of a lifetime with Freddie Blassie. Think about it champ (laughs)! Superstar: You know...you're right about something I lost a 90 pound lady man, who was hanging from my back with that 10 dolla turban... Blassie: O come on Superstar, you know the men I have. They're loyal and some of the best. Some of them you considered a friend once or many times. Think about it champ, because I'm out here making an offer of a lifetime in fact I'll take you higher than anyone has or could ever before. I'm make you not only the Superstar in the wrestling world, I'm talking about everywhere, TV, movies, merchandise, celebrity status the whole shabang! Superstar: You know it sounds interesting (fans aren't happy), it sounds like something I should think about and consider. But you can't tell me that I need to be in movies, a man of my stature wouldn't fit the TV screen with these 23 inch puppies. So I don't want it, I don't want you by my side because all these fans want to see me, the real me the Superstar baby.... Suddenly from behind Peter Maivia attacks Superstar and starts to choke him with a headband. Peter wraps a few cables as fans are booeing him.
