A big win for the Hulkster. Hulk gets on the MSG mic and shouts out for Ivan Putski to come out quickly because he wants that arm wrestling match with the "tiny Polishman" (Putski was 5 foot 6) and he ain't tired at all. ______________________________________________________ Hulk Hogan vs. WWF Tag Team Champion Ivan Putski in an Arm Wrestling Match.A table is being set up as Blassie talks trash about Dusty Rhodes and Superstar Billy Graham on the mic. Ivan Putski makes his way out with a referee and shouts he's doing it for Andre the Giant. The "tale of the tape" has Hogan with "26 inch pythons" (kayfabe of course) and Ivan Putski at "20 inches" (kayfabe it was actually 18, which was huge for his size). Hulk and Putski go at it, surprisingly Ivan manages to hold off of Hulk's advance as he now has the upperhand. Vince is shocked that Ivan is capable of pushing Hulk's arm, but it was too much, Hulk uses all his weight to win the match and smash Ivan's hands down. Winner: Hulk Hogan
Hogan is up and laughs at Putski, he starts to flex as Ivan is upset. Ivan grabs the chair and is about to smash Hulk, but Blassie warns Hogan in time as Hogan runs off. _______________________________________________________ Pat Patterson def. Capt. However the two brawled to the point that mayham was at ringside with several wrestlers and officials running out to stop the two. The new referee came in and stopped the match. Main Event ( UNTELEVISED): Dusty Rhodes (c) def. The Iron Sheik (w/Blassie) via DQ when the Sheik kicked out of an elbow smash, shoving Dusty into the referee. Thereafter the Sheik in frustration accidently hits an elbow drop on the referee causing the DQ.

I'm the reflection of perfection, the number one selection baby, and me and the American Dream are going around America spreading the love brother. Dusty: That's right, for men like the Sheik, the hostage crisis in Iran may be over baby but we ain't done with you. Suddenly Blassie walks out with Hulk Hogan.
Vince: Mr. Blassie you're man has his match coming up, I don't think this is the right time for an interview. Blassie: The fools in the ring can wait (Mike Masters and Joe Mascara are already in the ring). 2015 Shoot Interview with Superstar Billy Graham Interviewer: So you held the title for two years and lost it to the Sheik, how did that decision come about? Graham: It was because I was hurt. Those rings at MSG were boxing rings, not the kind of wrestling rings you have today. So I got hurt and over time my knee caps got bad, by back was bad, my wrists gosh I everything was hurting from all the bumps I'd take as a heel and sometimes as a face. Finally I told Vince Sr. and decided that the title had to come off of me. The Sheik was new to the WWF, but had worked for years in other territories, so there was a revolution in Iran and they thought it was best I was to drop it to him, because at that point they had heard that Dusty was going to get the NWA title and Vince Sr. thought of giving it to him and called him up and they worked a deal. Interviewer: Why did Dusty have a short run with the title? Graham: Dusty was the hottest babyface in America, yes I was at the top too, but Dusty worked everywhere and Vince Sr. thought it best to give him the strap. I wasn't there for it all, I started working the other territories with permission from Vince, but what I remember is that Vince Sr. thought that Dusty came off arrogant and above it all like he was Andre (the Giant). Dusty wanted more control over booking his matches and thought about defending the title elsewhere. So it was bound to fall apart. Interviewer: How did Hulk Hogan become Champion? Graham: I wasn't there when he won as I was feuding with Harley Race (NWA World Champion), but I think it was simply that Dusty and Vince agreed to part ways and they didn't have that many options. Koloff was gone, and it would be a bad idea to give the title back to the Sheik. I mean Sheik had huge heat, but remember there was the whole Hostage Crisis in Iran, and if Sheik had taken back the belt, he probably would've been shot or it was going turn political, who knows. They had to protect him from that. Hulk had a good start, I mean he was a big guy and made a big mark, but he was green. Vince Sr. thought it best that he give Hulk a run and like they did with me, have a babyface chase (faces go after the top heel). Interviewer: What did you think of Hulk? Graham: I didn't know him at the time and worked that tag match and arm wrestling match with him, but didn't know him a whole lot to judge. Most of the guys in the back as I remember, even when I was around, thought Hulk was too green that he needed to pay his dues. Some of the boys felt that they were robbed, but Hulk had to protect himself. They did the right thing with him feuding with Andre, because believe it or not Andre liked him and used to tell some of the boys to leave him alone. Andre loved working with bigger guys like Ernie Ladd or Big John Studd, it just fit his wrestling style well.

So the incredible Hulk Hogan is now the WWF Champion not without the help of Freddie Blassie, And now his first title defense comes against Andre The Giant. And it looks like we are starting to see WrestleMania 3 already. But the question is I wonder if Hogan's going to dump Blassie saying that he doesn't need Blassie's help. And I think Hogan should just be on his own as World Wrestling Federation Champion, Heel or Face. He should be a deserving champion.

I would like to first of all congratulate you Tony, you are now the No. 1 Contender for the WWF Heavyweight Championship. How do you feel? Tony: First of all I want to say that wrestling has always been in me, I was a state amateur champion back in the day, and it's an honour to be able to be one of the first African-Americans out here to get a shot at the WWF Heavyweight titles. Vince: No doubt you could very well become the first African-American WWF Champion. Tony: I can't tell you how I feel about that, a chance of a lifetime and I know I'm no Bruno Sammartino, but I can try to live up to all the greats of the past. Atlas gets in the powerslam but knocks down the referee with Hulk's legs! Tony tries to get the ref back up, Blassie jumps the apron and smashes Tony's back with the cane as Hogan gets in a bodyslam and the big leg drop (Blassie tries to wake up the ref from the outside) for the pin and win. WWF Championship WrestlingMay 31st, 1980 Host: Vince McMahon and Bruno Sammartino
Vince: We got a new No. 1 contender for the WWF Intercontintental Championship, Bruno tonight your protege Larry Zbyszko gets a shot against Bob Backlund tonight. Larry recently won the $15,000 Battle Royal at Madison Square Garden.... Bruno: I don't have a lot to say regarding Larry. How about the news about Andre the Giant. Vince: O that's right, the World Wrestling Federation has announced that Andre the Giant will be getting a match against WWF Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan, however because Andre isn't the No. 1 contender officially, it will be non-title. Bruno: I respect the WWF, but I have to say that's unfair McMahon. Andre deserves a title shot. ________________________________________________________ Rick McGraw def. Moose Monroe via pinfall
Pedro Morales def. Jose Estrada via pinfall________________________________________________________ Bob Backlund (c) vs. Larry Zbyszko for the WWF Intercontinental ChampionshipPrior to the match, Backlund is said to have a "bad right arm" after his match against Ken Patera at MSN and has it well wrapped and was cleared to wrestle. Larry and Backlund start off with several holds, back and forth till Larry starts working on Backlund's right arm throughout the match. Late in the match, Backlund goes for the atomic drop finisher and knocks out the referee. Larry rolls on out of the ring. Backlund tries to wake the ref. Larry grabs the same wooden-style chair he used against Bruno, rushes in the ring and smashes the chair over Backlund's arm! Backlund shouts till Larry smashes the chair over his head and tosses it away. The ref is awake till Larry gets in the pinfall over Backlund! Winner: Larry Zbyszko via pinfall to become the NEW WWF Intercontinental Champion
Bruno on commentary can't believe what he just saw and says he's stick to his stomach. Larry shouts on camera that he did the impossible by defeating Backlund and did it without Bruno's guidance and that he is the "true Living Legend". ________________________________________________________ The Wild Samoans (c) (w/Albano) def. Rene Goulet & Jim Duggan via pinfall to retain the WWF Tag Team Championships

WWF Championship WrestlingJune 7th, 1980 Host: Vince McMahon and Bruno Sammartino
Vince and Bruno are at ringside: Vince: Last week on Championship Wrestling, Larry Zbyszko won the WWF Intercontinental Championship, however, the World Wrestling Federation after careful review, have revoked the decision. This is based on the fact that Bob Backlund's doctors did in fact not clear him to wrestle as the fax that was sent to our offices was sent after the match occured. At the same time after Larry Zbyszko used an illegal chair in the ring twice on the champion, the WWF had no choice but to strip Larry of the title. On the other hand, Backlund has been fined for wrestling without proper clearance, but Bob Backlund will continue to be the WWF Intercontinental Champion. As for the title belt, Larry will have to hand the belt over... Bruno: You know this is justice, this is what justice is and only here in the World Wrestling Federation can you find that.... Larry shows up with the IC title belt. Larry: (shouts in anger at Bruno) Did you do this? Did you do this to me? I heard it was you! You and your politics! Bruno: You damned right I had a say (Larry and Bruno exchange a few words not properly heard) Vince: I know that you're upset Larry, but the title belt has to be handed over. Larry: You want the belt? Here it is (hands it over to Vince). This isn't even the title I want. I want the WWF Heavyweight Championship. Bruno: (gets angry) You don't deserve the championship. You don't deserve to be in the ring anymore. I failed you Larry, I admit I failed you, you were my greatest student, you could've been the greatest of all time better than me, but you did this to yourself kid... Larry starts a fight with Bruno till WWF Officials break them apart. ______________________________________ Larry Sharpe def. Steve King via countout

Tickets are on sale and what an event this will be. It's official: Bruno Sammartino vs. Larry Zbyszko in a Steel Cage Match to finally determine who is the best, the student or the master? Vince interviews Andre the Giant:Vince: Speaking of masters, Andre you've been given a chance to take on the WWF Heavyweight Champion, the Fabulous Hulk Hogan. However, it seems that by far your match with him will be a non-title match. Andre: I've come out here to say to the WWF, that not once have I ever asked for anything, never. This is the first time I have, I want Hulk Hogan, but I don't just want to humiliate him, I want one more request from the WWF, I want the title to be on the line.
