Wings were really awful tonight. Aside from Bert laying on some big hits ,and Draper being clutch, the team looked dead. Babcock will light a fire under the guys, and games 3 and 4 will be ours. Lang in particular is playing his way off of this team. He was atrocious tonight.

Great hustle by the Flames but they need to play more physical.

Just for poops, I finished the first round of my NHL 07 playoffs.
Just to explain the way the next match-ups were set.. since EA hasn't had a simple Playoffs mode in their game for the past 2-3 titles, I had to start two seperate World Tournies: East and West. I simmed the round robins until the match-ups were correct. But not enough to the point of which teams get home-ice advantage. Example: in the Ducks/Wild series, the Wild started at home due to their round robin standings.
So..
West DET def. CGY, 4-2 MIN def. ANA, 4-1 DAL def. VAN, 4-1 SJ def. NAS, 4-1
East BUF def. NYI, 4-2 NJ def. TB, 4-3 ATL def. NYR, 4-2 PIT def. OTT, 4-0
And..
West
DET vs. DAL MIN vs. SJ
East
BUF vs. NJ ATL vs. PIT
See? If these results were to happen in real life, based on the standings, it would actually be MIN/DET, SJ/DAL, BUF/PIT, NJ/ATL.. but because of the different pools thing and what-not in the game, it's not perfect. But whatever. I don't care at this point.
Just some notes..
- Buffalo had a 3-0 lead, but because Miller decided to smoke a pole, the Isles managed to steal two. In all of Ty Conklin's relief efforts, he let NO GOALS in. He faced like.. 40-50 shots in total. And Drury's god-like status transfers perfectly into video games.
- Sweeping Ottawa with Pittsburgh was fun
- Giguere played awful
- I managed to tie up the ATL/NYR series with the Rags, even though Lundqvist sucks in 07. For me, at least. But after two solid games, he couldn't finish the series. He started sucking again. I think I yanked him in every game. I was stupid to keep giving him chances. Weekes could have won this series LoL
- Some of the best games to play were actually the DET/CGY games. Some really close and gritty games played there. A number of them went to OT, so that made it that much more exciting.

The key to the Wings series is for the guys to stay out of the box. The Canadian refs are CLEARLY going to call anything the Wings give them a reason to. Look at the go ahead goal that was scored tonight; where was the interference call? Zetterberg was clearly being held. The commentators (Canadian mind you) also made a note of Bertuzzi being held, but again, nothing. I expected this though. Also, the Flames goals have all come on the PP. Face it, the Wings 5 on 5 are much better then Calgary. The Wings on the PP? Not so good.
I still think the Wings win the next two games and take it. Calgary is supposed to be unbeatable at home, yet they BARELY got the job done tonight. I'm not sold on the Flames making a comeback.

Oh, BTW, the Tkachuk trade is certainly working out for Atlanta, isn't it? LOL. Go Rangers.

Yes, Sammy needs to go. Lang is much better on a line with Calder and Hudler.

I'm kind of upset that all these series are 3-1 or 3-0, for christ sakes I'd like at least one series to go deep.

Luongo will bring the Cup to Vancouver, unless he faces the beast of the New York Rangers team. What a win! And tonight, lets bring out the brooms.
hopefully.

The Wings didn't play that bad last night, at least not enough to make me worried. The power play was terrible though. Plus they got raped by the refs in the second/third.
Also UYI, I don't think Hasek did bad. I think he had no chance on the first two goals. The Iginla goal I think could have been stopped.
Oh well, I have a lot of faith in this team.

It's the same story every year....the Red Wings lost the game, the Flames didn't win it. The refs are biased towards Canadian teams. The announcers are biased towards the Canadian teams. It's just one big conspiracy.

It's not over for the Pens yet. They played well enough yesterday to prove to me they can come back from this. I honestly don't think they will, but I have faith. Go Pens. The Senators
