As most of us know, the new Retrofest figures are currently available on eBay. Iron Sheik seems to be the harder of the 2 to find, imo. I went to Gamestop 2 days ago and the employee looked it up for me and said they are definitely canceled. He also said they had no plans of getting the new ones. Does anyone know if this line is done after this? Or is it just not going to be a Gamestop exclusive anymore? Just like the Flashbacks and Retros, another of my favorite lines is being canceled. If it's canceled indefinitely then maybe its a good idea to get Perfect and Sheik now before the price goes sky high (Sheik on Amazon is currently $500). Love to hear opinions on this line and where it might be headed, if anywhere. Or did Mattel seal its fate from day 1?
Update: Announced on the major WF pod these will not be coming to GameStop but will be available on Target.com sold together as a package deal. |

Gamestop was also telling people that Hacksaw was cancelled earlier this year. I personally think the line is dead. It's a shame as it's my favorite line as well.

It's upsetting because the possibilities were endless for this line. I really liked the imagination they had with them. I know most didnt like the Shawn Michaels in his Rockers gear without Jannetty, but I did. Oh well.... |

Amazons price is no way near a correct reflection of price. Completed listings on ebay will give you an average current market value.

Both figures were passes at $25 anyway. Prior Perf and Sheik figures are better so neither are a must have. For some, maybe. Not necessarily a must have for me like a new Hogan Elite would be, but I've been collecting the line (as small as it may be) so they were sort of must have's. |

Not surprising if the line is dead, but the figures will surface. Mattel runs their production schedule months and months in advance, and this wouldn't be the first time a retailer cancelled an order late in the game (Nitro 4 pack, TNF Mean Gene BAF). The figures were clearly produced, so they'll surface somewhere eventually. Mattel isn't just going to eat the cost on dead stock.

If that's the case I'm glad I grabbed Sheik when I did. Aside from the new head, I wasn't feeling Perfect, but I won't deny he looked great MOC. In fact Retrofest had some of the best packaging Mattel ever did.
I think part of it is the uncertainty of Gamestop's future and Mattel pulling out as a precautionary measure regardless if GS goes the way of the Dodo or continues. It's a shame, it would have been the perfect place to rerelease Texas Tornado or even that Network Spotlight Diesel would have looked sick in that arcade cab packaging.

Not surprising these figures are done. Whenever I saw them in store, they sat at full retail. Barely saw many once they hit clearance. Why would a chain continue to support a line that we as collectors would not support ?

Got Perfect today and I must say it looks far better in person. The face is spot on, imo. Would have preferred a color other than black for his singlet, but it's still nice. Ordered Sheik last night. I agree that GS was a bad choice to stick these. Target, Walmart, even Walgreens would have been better. |

anything is possible, but I’m sure they’ll show up at GameStop soon. Employees said the same thing when people were trying to find Hacksaw and Flair.
As far as supporting the line, I always buy the 1st of each fig at full price then I grab more when sales hit.

I get it, arcade cabinet style packaging, WWE had an arcade game called Wrestlefest, and the line was full of legends, but beyond the presentation it really had nothing to do with gaming since even the characters they picked weren't in Wrestlefest for the most part. It was a neat way to get some legend reissues (HTM and Sheik are the two best in the line IMO) but I think it has less to do with sales and more to do with Gamestop's future hanging in the balance. Then again NECA did announce more 1990 TMNT exclusive reissues so who knows. |

Same with Tornado and Warrior, two names I'm shocked never made it in the line given Kerry's demand and Warrior never failing to sell (Ultimate Maniacs DM notwithstanding) |
