Im glad I ordered them, too. Got Perfect today and I must say it looks far better in person. The face is spot on, imo. Would have preferred a color other than black for his singlet, but it's still nice. Ordered Sheik last night. I agree that GS was a bad choice to stick these. Target, Walmart, even Walgreens would have been better. Honestly the theming of the line was kind of odd. I get it, arcade cabinet style packaging, WWE had an arcade game called Wrestlefest, and the line was full of legends, but beyond the presentation it really had nothing to do with gaming since even the characters they picked weren't in Wrestlefest for the most part. It was a neat way to get some legend reissues (HTM and Sheik are the two best in the line IMO) but I think it has less to do with sales and more to do with Gamestop's future hanging in the balance. Then again NECA did announce more 1990 TMNT exclusive reissues so who knows. Yup, I hated the boxes at first. Im a moc collector and refused to buy them. Then when I found Macho Man and HBK for like $9 I just wanted all of them. |

Just broke down and bought Perfect. A little more than I wanted to pay but didn’t want to miss out on this one. It may pop up somewhere later for cheaper, but it may not make it stores if the line is discontinued.

As bad as store exclusives are/have been this line should never have been an exclusive for a video game store. I recall hunting for the List of Jericho figure & was told by a member at GameStop “Action figure? Sir this is a video game store”
I’m not going out of my way to find said figure (Mr Perfect) locally. If I really want it secondary market pick up for me.

Gamestop has been a blessing with several lines considering how terrible other stores have been at stocking over the last year or so. They may charge a few bucks more than everywhere else, but you can preorder what you want and they will just call you and tell you to come buy it. No driving around wasting time and gas looking for it. The problem was the figures themselves. Sure, HTM and Flair were worth the price of admission, but Duggan, Perfect, Macho, and Sheik were just ovepriced Elites, and that Shawn should have been scrapped or retooled. |

Oh man I'm tired of beating this dead horse but here goes. I went to my usual Gamestop today to check out the clearance sale. I asked the manager which is a collector himself and appears knowledgeable able about the product. As far as his system says and as far as he knows and has heard. These new Retrofests arent coming. He checked every which way in the system to confirm and came up with nothing. That doesnt mean they just wont pop up one day but "officially" theres nothing coming. I'll get them on Ebay so I'm good. My question now out of pure curiosity and just plain nosey is where other than Gamestop would these be sold? Its like they dont fit in anywhere else.

I just exited a multiple year tenure as the manager of my local GameStop, moving on to a better company that treats and pays it's managers well until I launch my collectibles business.
That said, up to my last day (the 15th) I was checking on these daily for myself and info to report back to these boards. I can say with certainty that the SKUs for the new RetroFest figures were never available for me. They were never viewable on the website and after hours and hours of searching our inventory system - even going as far as contacting the "inventory control specialist" - I was unable to find them. As far as I can tell, the company abandoned the series after Flair & Hacksaw and this series moving forward will be carried by another retailer if not cancelled and the figures integrated into Flashbacks, Hall Of Champions, etc.

FWIW, I talked to Steve (aka actionfigureattack) on IG about a week or two ago and he said an update about the remaining RF figures was coming soon. Didn't give any other details other than that though.

Gamestop was also telling people that Hacksaw was cancelled earlier this year. I personally think the line is dead. It's a shame as it's my favorite line as well. It's upsetting because the possibilities were endless for this line. I really liked the imagination they had with them. I know most didnt like the Shawn Michaels in his Rockers gear without Jannetty, but I did. Oh well.... I'm an idiot and bought two Shawns in the hopes that I'll someday find a Matty Marty head for cheap. NOPE. |
