Greg Valentine vs Ronnie Garvin
This feud would get started during the Spring of 89 on an episode of Superstars in which Garvin would defeat Valentine. This would irate the Hammer to the point where he would challenge him again for the following week in a loser leaves town match. In the end Valentine would pick up the win to send Garvin packing...For now. I liked Valentine/Hart gloating at the end of the match.
Garvin would come back to TV not long after this in the ref role which didn't last long after he was canned by Jack Tunney for forcefully getting involved in matches. One in particular was punching Valentine during his match with Jimmy Snuka on SNME that July.He then would take on briefly a ring announcer role with the most infamous moment happening at SSlam that year during the Hammer/Hercules match with Garvin ripping on his foe. Hammer selling his anger was great here.
That Fall, Valentine demanded the WWF reinstate Garvin back into the fold with the resuming their feud from there. They would both be on the opposite ends at SSeries that year with Greg on the King's Court and Ronnie on the 4x4s. The heels would prevail in the end. The feud would culminate at the Rumble that January in a submission match. Main selling point here was Garvin having his own shin guard named the ''hammer jammer'' to counter Valentine's ''heartbreaker''. Garvin would pick up the win to officially the feud.
Overall... I was never a Garvin fan but I gotta say I did enjoy this feud.It was nice to see a low card feud get a good run.Definitely check out the Rumble match as it's a nice old school fashion match.

The Summerslam segment was good. The Hammer (and Jesse on commentary) did a great job with it. I loved when Garvin said “and claims to weigh 249 pounds”.

This was a good mid-card feud. Both guys did a great job and they matched up really well. You're right about Hammer selling the insults at Summer Slam, back when bad guys were meant to be the bad guys and sell for the good guys, not try and be quick witted and funny. This was something that the WWF did well at the time, yes you had the great main event feuds, but you always had some really good mid-card feuds as well (Boss Man v Mountie, Tatanka v Martel, Rockers v Power & Glory, Tito v Martel, etc). I liked the SNME match of Greg vs Snuka to help further the feud, Jesse was gold on the mic.

I really liked Garvin vs Valentine from RR 1990. Very underrated.

I also appreciated these lower card guys getting a long term story going on rather than just being JTTS like Snuka and Koko.
This is about the only thing I recall ever liking with Garvin.

Great write up buddy,
I was not a huge fan of either of these guys to be honest, but their match at the 90 Royal Rumble was way more fun than many people give it credit for. Like others have said, giving people at this spot on the card something to do and an actual story was really cool.

Shawn Michaels vs Rick Martel
Brief feud here humanoids. This would come about after Martel would start flirting with Sensational Sherri during one of HBKs matches which ticked of the SATX native and with that we're off.Michaels would retaliate by costing Martel to become IC champ that Summer in a match with Bret Hart. This would lead to the match being set for SSlam at Wembley with the stipulation being ''no hitting in the face''. In the end both guys were counted out when Sherri would ''pass out'' with both guys then brawling on the floor.Martel would get a babyface reaction post match when he splashed Sherri with water.
Overall... I always liked Martel and this initial heel run of HBK was my fav in his career so I enjoyed this little feud here.It was also nice to see heel vs heel which was extremely rare during these days.

I love both guys, even when Martel turned on Tito I had a soft spot for him even though I would claim I hated him As much as I love Shawn Michaels for me it was Martel that made this match and feud for me. His facial expressions, especially during "the wink" were hilarious. I remember as a kid I was at SummerSlam 92 and I had no idea until I got home and watched the tape that Sherri had her butt out lol. When you think about it, apart from Warrior vs Savage and Bret vs Bulldog this match probably had the most "story" going into SummerSlam 92.

I didn’t really like the rockers or strike force. But I liked when both these guys turned heel. I could’ve liked Martel for a long time but this was the only time I’d like hbk in his whole career. It was cool when finally every match didn’t have to be face v heel

Lex Luger vs Tatanka
This feud would get underway during the Summer of 94. Luger by this point was running on fumes after his failed run in the World Title picture so this was his next meaningful feud here.It was teased Luger was in cahoots with Ted Dibiase and his Corporation which led to Tatanka calling him a sell out during the build for this thing. In the end it was all a ruse as Tatanka was the one who would sell out at SSlam by attacking Luger post match.Even though I still feel Luger should've been the one to turn heel, This was a nice swerve and a nice way to change up Tatanka's character a bit.
From there the two would continue on into the Fall months with both guys being on opposite end at the SSeries that year with Luger apart of ''Guts and Glory'' and Tatanka on the $$$ Team.In the end the heels would prevail. After this they cooled down on the feud heading into 95 with Tatanka vying for the tag belts with Bam Bam Bigelow and Luger trying his luck in the Rumble match. The feud would come to a climax right before Mania XII in a cage match in which Luger would pick up the win to end this once and for all. Decent little cage match here all things considered.
Overall...I definitely would've been more invested in this if they turned Luger back to his Narcissist gimmick and had him join the Corporation. It would've breathed new life into em for sure after that flop of a main event push. As is though this was a feud I really didn't care about.

I remember they were asking fans to call the hotline and vote whether Luger sold out to the Million Dollar Man or didn’t sell out. I actually called and voted no. Hey I was 12.

Nice feud, but I don't think it did anything for either of them. I agree with The Brain, this would have been the ideal time for them to turn Luger back to his Narcissist gimmick or even his Total Package gimmick from early 90s WCW, use the fact that he couldn't win the belt as the reason for his turn. Teaming him with Ted DiBiase would have been great, like when he was managed by Harley Race in WCW. Would have been great if they put him in Bob Backlund's spot and had him beat Bret at the Survivor Series then he could have dropped the belt to Diesel at the Royal Rumble or WM11, this way he would have gotten his title reign as well as feuded with the top baby faces at the time. It might have also breathed some new light in his WWF run as by 1995 he was floundering.

Another great write up
At first I was all in with this feud, but as I always say Luger at the end of it all looked like a freaking moron. 100 percent he should have been the one to join the corporation.
