you could make the argument that wrestling would not be what it is now, if Piper and Hogan did not square off! I missed heel Roddy in the 80s as he was a face by the time I started watching. However, going back and watching him as a heel is great stuff. He was the perfect villain to Hogan as the hero. I remember on the Hulk Still Rules DVD that Hogan said he wished Roddy opened up a bit more during this feud. Did Hogan ever cleanly beat Piper during this time? I remember their stuff in WCW and thought the actual matches sucked! I got a big chuckle when (was it DX?) referred to it as Age in the Cage! Still, these are two of the best and as someone who grew up in Scotland, Roddy Piper will always be a favorite of mine Roddy was great, as a heel and a baby face. The great thing is he really didn't change his character much when he went from bad guy to good guy. Loved his poke of the eye move. No, Hogan never beat Piper cleanly. No one really did. The only two I remember hearing about were Bret (WM8) and Mr. Perfect at house shows in 1990/91. Greatest heel move in history, he was feuding with the Guerrero's in California back in the 70s and early 80s and saying some horrible things about them. The crowd was mostly Mexican-Americans, so to apologize one week he was going to play the Mexico national anthem on his bagpipes. He gets up in the ring in front of the crowd and starts playing La Cucaracha instead. The place goes nuts, I believe a riot almost broke out. Can you imagine the hell he would catch today for doing something like that.

Hogan never beating Piper clean man that never fails to put a smile on my face I didn't see the match vs Mr America. That wasn't clean? I know at Superbrawl 97 Hogan cheated to win. Savage and Hogan put a pretty big beating on him afterwards.

O'Haire accidently hit Piper with a pipe which lead to the leg drop.

I would be remiss if I didnt post this gem. This was used to hype up Hogan/Piper at Starrcade...

Undertaker vs BerzerkerThis feud would begin during the Spring of 92 on an episode of Superstars. The match never happened though as Berzerker would attack the deadman before the bell with his shield and on top of that tried to impale him with his sword!Definitely something you wouldn't normally see during this era thats for sure. They didn't do much with the follow up however. They both cut promos on each other and had matches together on the house show circuit but thats about it. www.wwe.com/videos/the-berzerker-introduces-mean-gene-okerlund-to-his-sword-wrestling-challenge-june-28-1992The last remnants of the feud would come that July when Berzerker would once again attack Taker with him throwing salt in the dead mans eyes.Following this the feud was dropped with Taker going on to Kamala and Berzerker going on to Tatanka for SSlam. For you Coliseum Video fans out there they would meet on Rampage 92 in a tag match with Warrior and Shango as their respective partners and on Takers Gravest Matches when Taker would meet Berzerker and Fuji in a handicap match. That should've been the blow off match on TV but instead it was put on a tape that was released over a year later! The last interaction between the two would come at the Rumble that January with Taker eliminating his old foe in short order. Overall...Cant say much about this feud as it didnt last long but like I said the sword stuff was shocking for this era.

Money Inc vs Natural DisastersThe original plan for WM VIII was for the LOD to defend the tag belts against the Disasters with Money Inc. facing off against Duggan/Slaughter.With Hawks demons during this time that all changed with Money Inc. taking the belts from em on a house show that February. With LOD outta the picture for the time being, the WWF would turn the Disasters babyface after Jimmy Hart abandoned them to join the new champs. The match would be set for the Hoosier Dome and this one just wasnt good.ND didnt gel into their new role yet you could tell plus the crowd was pretty much dead for it.Not to mention the crap ending. The Disasters would get their day at the top however as that July on a TV taping in Mass. they would defeat Money Inc. to win the belts. They would go on and have a little run with the belts as they would defeat the Beverly Brothers at SSlam that year at Wembley Stadium but the showdown with Money Inc was looming. That would happen on Wrestling Challenge that November in which Money Inc. would regain the belts thanks to some help from new team on the scene Headshrinkers. This would be the end of the feud as Money Inc would feud with the Nasty Boys following this with the Disasters going after the Headshrinkers(a feud that didnt go anywhere at all) Overall...The matches weren't anything to write home about but I was a big fan of both teams so I didnt mind.Seeing the Disasters getting a run with the belts was great.

I really liked both teams, but hated the Natural Disasters as faces. They were both really solid heel teams that I always felt were a legit threat to no matter who they faced.

I have kind of an odd suggestion as it’s not between wrestlers, but thought it was entertaining enough- Jim Cornette vs Paul E. Dangerously.

Sgt. Slaughter vs Hulk HoganWith Sarge winning the World Title and Hogan winning the Rumble in 91, These two were destined to be on a collision course at WrestleMania VII in LA.Jack Tunney would announce the big match on the Main Event that February and with that we're off. They did tease Warrior and Jim Duggan as challengers but we all know who was going to get a crack at it.The build was the typical ''US hero against in this case Iraqi Sympathizer'' angle but Sarge did a great job here in the build by buring posters and a t shirt. They had planned to burn the US flag but thought better of it in the end.Good choice there. I also really liked the video package they aired on the Stars and Stripes special prior to the event. Gave it that extra final push. The match at Mania itself predictability aside was very good I thought. Hogan sold his a$$ off and we got blood which was rare during this era. After Mania they would show on TV the attack Sarge would rage on the Hulkster when he threw a fireball in his face! Great stuff here and again Hogan sold it to perfection. Sarge would then recruit an old foe in the Iron Sheik but here he was known as Col. Mustafa. The feud would rage on into the spring months with two facing off on the house show circuit in ''desert storm matches''. By the Summer the feud was running on fumes as the war in real life was long over so this needed to end. That would come by SSlam as Hogan teamed with the Warrior to face the Triangle of Terror in the match made in hell with newcomer on the scene Sid Justice as ref. Again good build here with them teasing what side Sid would be on with him only saying Justice will be served! The match itself was meh with the only notable thing in the whole match being Warrior's last outing until his return at Mania VIII.The feud following this would be done with Hogan going on to feud with Taker/Flair and Sarge going back to babyface after proclaiming how badly he wants his country back. Overall... Like I said your typical USA vs evil feud here but I enjoyed it for the most part. Sarge getting a little run with the belt was the cherry on top.

This was the feud that was going on when I became a wrestling fan in 1991. Wow it's almost 30 years. Time flies!
