I was buying a lot the last few years, but I'd already cut back with the last price increase. The higher the prices go, the less reasonable it feels for me to buy.
It's unfortunate because I do enjoy them, but the cost is a part of that. Like, I'd enjoy a MOC Hasbro fig, but I'd enjoy it less if I paid $500 than if I got a great deal and paid $125. The value has to be there. For me, it feels like they're approaching the point where it isn't.

Prices for all toys are increasing. Marvel legends are up to 22.99-24.99 depending on the retailer. Funkos are up. Everything is up. Whoever is comparing these to Hot Toys is comparing apples to oranges. Hot toys are over $250-300. So, proportionally, $25 for an Elite isn’t bad because they are quality figures in their own right. The comparing of the two was clearly about being collectibles versus toys, not price points.

Scarcity fuels demand. Raising prices is a way to create artificial scarcity. Toy companies saw how the collectibles market swelled during the pandemic and have decided to raise prices. This is simply price gouging.

voicesinmyheadMattel has been losing money quarter after quarter, year after year. The real question is how the hell is mattel still in business or been taken over by another company. Mattel is just using current events to jack up prices since everyone else is.

For the past few years; I've only been buying HBK's and Flashbacks. When this price increase goes into effect, I'll only be buying HBKs.

All I hear anymore is “my gas is too expensive” “my toys are too expensive”
Life sucks, get a helmet.

I don’t know about you but I certainly consider WWE elites to be collectibles. Almost all toy lines are geared towards kids. Star Wars toys were geared towards kids and yet those are considered collectibles. I understand what you mean about Hot Toys being for adults versus kids, but I always considered the Elite line for collectors and the Basic line for kids.

Nah, anything within that toy aisle is a toy. We may collect them, but they’re toys. Meant to be played with. Marvel Legends, WWE Elites, Star Wars Black Series… all toys. Meant to be played with, but can also be displayed.

Why is ceasing collecting the solution here? Why not just limit your purchases. Why not buy one less figure than you would have? Some of you are very dramatic. Because people don't think that children's toys are worth 25 dollars?

Most are made for ages 4-5+ It’s not bad that we choose to collect toys, but the point is… paying $25+ MSRP for a toy is ludicrous. Secondary market? Ringside, where you get it weeks/months early? Could be tolerable, due to the circumstances.

Lastly, for those complaining about $25, most of you already pay more through Ringside to get them early. Don’t kid yourselves. Will the Ringside prices go up too? Sure. But you were already paying more. the “more” amount will go up more If people were content with 28 each, maybe at 32 they’re out

I'm not even gonna pretend that this matters to me. It doesn't.
I like my figures, I'll keep shoveling money at them. Do I have the money to do so, hell no. But considering I usually only order one or two figures per wave anyway, a price raise of that amount won't mean enough of a difference to me to stop.
That said, if this pandemic ever officially ends, I'll be flat broke so I probably won't be buying anything after that. I wish the next couple sets would go up for preorder on RSC so I can buy them now while I have cash.

Meanwhile in Australia, store Elite's are $30, and getting an Elite online will usually cost you anywhere from $45+. Getting 1 Elite online from anywhere in the US usually costs me around $60 - $70+.
This is nothing new for me. Petrol prices here though, absolute BS.
