Price increase for the plebs yet the rich celebs and influencer shills will still get their free stuff.

Why is ceasing collecting the solution here? Why not just limit your purchases. Why not buy one less figure than you would have? Some of you are very dramatic. Because people don't think that children's toys are worth 25 dollars? Why buy them at all if they are merely “childrens” toys? It just seems silly to me that everyone was buying them at 22.99 but $1 to $2 more is absolutely absurd. Isn’t $23 for a “childrens” toy just as ridiculous? I don’t understand these argument of children’s toys versus adult collectibles. I hear this argument all the time but at the end of the day, most of us on these forums are adults buying these figures. To ridicule it is to just ridicule yourself at the same time. Is it not?

Lastly, for those complaining about $25, most of you already pay more through Ringside to get them early. Don’t kid yourselves. Will the Ringside prices go up too? Sure. But you were already paying more. the “more” amount will go up more If people were content with 28 each, maybe at 32 they’re out Right but anyone willing to pay $27 before at Ringside may just be a littler more patient now and pay $25 retail at a Walmart or Target. I understand the Ringside prices will go up even further too, but if you were already paying more than $25 than you shouldn’t be complaining.

Just paid $82 dollars for Hogan and Mr. T UE. Its wild out here right now. I can definitely see a lot of people walking away from collecting or at least really slow down.

Happening across the board. Two price hikes in such a short time is going to hurt all brands, especially ones that are already struggling. I don't know how Basics will go on without a price-point change. It's a pretty safe prediction that by the end of this decade, action figures at large will be collector-based lines aimed at adults who have the spare income for it. I think toys will certainly still exist, though the division on what is targeting single-digit-kids-only will be clearer. It's just not cost-effective anymore to do detailed 6" figures at a price most people are willing to pay at whim at the grocery store for their child. Birthday and Christmas gifts are one thing, but inexpensive toys you randomly pick up while shopping for other goods have that impulsive role in retail, which is why they want them so much and have that edict for Mattel and other manufacturers. As time goes on, that probably also means a tighter selection of what makes it to retail and what remains online-only, which means if it's an online-only future for certain lines, even MORE expensive prices since manufacturing at a lower volume = higher cost to the consumer. Hard to believe that Elites and Legends began at $15, and that was considered to be a bit expensive at the time since it was more than CS... 2010: $14.99 2015: $19.99 2021: $21.99

They aren't worth 25 dollars to most people. They aren't a necessity. Why does it bother you so much that people say they won't buy if they increase the price? What does it matter to you?

Some of these reactions are just laughable. First off, we are still feeling the effects of the pandemic and prices will always go up at a time of war. That is just a fact. Prices will only go up further if we get involved. Let’s hope that we don’t get involved. That’s what is most important here. Second, people need to stop blaming Mattel directly. What do you expect them to do? Eat the extra cost? You simply do not understand business then. The cost of materials is increasing, therefore the retail price will increase. Does it suck? Yes. But we can’t blame Mattel or expect them to just lower their profit margins. Prices for all toys are increasing. Marvel legends are up to 22.99-24.99 depending on the retailer. Funkos are up. Everything is up. Whoever is comparing these to Hot Toys is comparing apples to oranges. Hot toys are over $250-300. So, proportionally, $25 for an Elite isn’t bad because they are quality figures in their own right. Lastly, for those complaining about $25, most of you already pay more through Ringside to get them early. Don’t kid yourselves. Will the Ringside prices go up too? Sure. But you were already paying more. All valid points but the important thing is we don't have to keep buying at the higher price point and many of us wont. If the quality were better then sure, but other companies are putting out higher quality products for the same (or sometimes less) price. Something is going to give. The bubble will burst at some point and we'll be back to square one.

This gaslighting is cracking me up. Calling these children's toys.
Those of you trying to be dismissive are gaslighting people on a forum dedicated to children's toys. Remember that.

Just gotta try and make sure I don't pass on something that I regret not getting later on...that can be a much more expensive mistake.

Don’t buy the figures in the first place if they are just for children.

Also, how is Mattel not pumping out quality figures? Ignoring basics, elites and ultimates are certainly quality figures. They are making some of the best wrestling figures of all time. Are there QC issues? Sure. But that doesn’t mean what they are producing isn’t quality. Every company has QC issues. What company is priding better figures at lower price points? They are around the same price point as Marvel Legends and DC McFarlane. What’s the difference?

Again, why do you care if people don't know want to buy them anymore?

We're not talking about a $500 figure. We're talking just a bit more than what you've been paying. If you can't afford that, you probably shouldn't spend your money on toys. Or, if you're buying 50+ figures a month ... maybe cut back. Need money? Go to the movies or bar a couple times less each month, stop smoking, don't reach for that impulse buy ... boom problem solved.

That’s fine. I’ll still get the stores to price match their online price of 19.99. Been doing that at Target ever since the increase to 21.99

It works for Ultimates too. Before I buy in store, I’ll check the online price of the figure at Walmart and Target(if available) and get them to price match. Haven’t had any issues yet

Haven’t had any issues yet Will they do that even if it's not in stock (able to be ordered) but still shows up on the target app?
