I'm disappointed but not dejected since there are so many more options than there have ever been. I crossed my fingers the entire time because if there's one constant about Jeff Jarrett, it's that he's a mercenary forever running away from the fact that he is and has always been a Memphis act, which, incidentally, is the only time he was ever over. He is and always will be Double J. Had he bothered to stay in 1995, rather than letting his ego rooted in vanity be manipulated by his dad or Vince Russo, he would have been making a high six figures for a number of years. Fans and promoters alike don't like investing in mercenaries. People understood that about Jarrett on a psychic level by the late 90s. So he goes again right when the company re-invests in him the third time around. The first time I got news that he was back, I was thinking "I wonder how long he'll stay this time 🙄." He's a good mind, a good performer, and had a good body, but none of those qualities could have been great without a slick marketing campaign from WWF to promote him as such. Whatever Thank you for posting this, I could not agree more. I'm already wondering about AEW: "How long will this last?" What's the over/under? I give it 6 months TOPS, and I doubt he'll be there that long. I don't watch wrestling or follow a lot of the politics, so I don't really know. I also don't know much about Jarrett himself other than what I stated here. Same with the industry in toto. Unless Khan offered him an obscene amount of money with few demands, which is possible, I don't see how Jarrett would find working with people like Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks appealing. They're not carny wrestlers around whom he would have grown up. They're content spammers who perform wrestling rather than being wrestlers. Just my view. I think there's a limited audience for that kind of meta theatrics for a self-annoited High Priest caste of Brahmin smarks thinking they're above commercialized wrestling while reveling in that form of entertainment. I never got the sense that Jarrett was a fan for that style, so I can't see what he did as motivated by anything but a financial incentive. Memphis has always been a weird milieu, in fairness. Those are his roots. I took it as a trailer version of New York. Thanks for the reply regardless

Watch the replacement be a crapty singlet Warrior Let's hope so! SS92 needs a redo, but I'd take literally any Warrior with a duster.

Mattel should've learned from their mistake with Hollywood Hogan. If you have a guy under contract make their figure, don't mess about.
The amount of time Jarrett's been under contract Mattel could've made multiple figures of him.

I think in their defense there were some legal issues that were preventing them from actually making his figures. However, I do agree they need to stop waiting forever to drop some of these guys. Crazy that we've only gotten one RVD since his new Legends deal. I really want one with thicker ball jointed legs (early 2000's in either purple or any variation would do).

The amount of time Jarrett's been under contract Mattel could've made multiple figures of him. He didn’t own his name or likeness until just recently within the last year or so. Plus we don’t know when he signed a legends deal as backstage talent don’t have merchandise deals in their employee contracts. Mattel seemed to have tried to get out Jarrett as soon as they could.

Really disappointing. I was really looking forward to this one. Sorry if I'm being a bit dim here, but does this cancellation pretty much confirm that JJ hasn't signed a WWE Legends deal? Yeah whatever deal he had must’ve been voided when he was released or when he signed with AEW. Thanks for clearing that up - damn this sucks!

can i get an amen🙌. sorry to pray on y’all downfall for who actually wanted him. i started at Badd Blood and have binged all the way almost to wm14 & his thing with the NWA is so boring right now, although as a kid i saw JJ as the big bad guy of tna and didnt like him as a kid but appreciate the role he and most have done now i still dont see how a ultimate slot could be wasted on a mid card like this. TNA jj id get but country star no way. this leaves me hopeful to a new or old rerelease taking his spot but who knows it might be someone i don’t care for again

Disappointed regarding the news but excited to see what Jazwares can produce with his rights. His classic TNA look, Don't p#$$ me off look, and even anything from his debut onwards. I wonder if Jazwares can actually make the Ultimate look that Mattel was about to do? Hmmm WWE and WCW looks are off the table unless he wore them in a promotion WWE doesn’t have the rights to. TNA is probably off the table too. Plus Jazwares doesn’t do a lot of throwback looks even tho they have a huge roster of legendary talent. I wouldn’t expect much from them with Jarrett outside his current look. Maybe Flair’s last match attire. Possibly USWA/CWA. I did check some images of his attires while in USWA and the ring attire was the same as the Ultimate. Also Jarrett in WCW wore the same short tights while in the WWA. So both looks can be done.

We were screwed out of the hasbro, we yearned for Jakks to make a classic, and now we’re screwed out of the Mattel. This is what happens when you spend your days working hard on the go. You never have time to stop and smell the new figures.

They really need to try to get WWE to allow them to do direct deals to avoid situations like this and to open up who they can do.

This is definitely not Mattel's fault. But it is a really big bummer imo. I do think Jarrett is a guy who could be back with WWE eventually. So hopefully we get that Ultimate someday.
I do question what is possible with him. The Major Pod guys made him in his New Gen and AE WWF looks. I wonder if that's an option for Jazwares as a Luminaries figure. Although, I think they've done a really poor job in that department when they have access to guys like Jake, Jerry Lynn, Taz, Sting, and the only real throwback we've gotten is Jericho (with that second Owen on the way).

Probably depends on the production run. Not sure of the specifics but you can consider it “fan art” and sell it in small quantities without ramifications. Jazwares being a major company that mass produce their figures wouldn’t be able to get away with using protected IP.

I'm holding out hope that it will eventually happen since the demand is so big from us older collectors, but if they need to slot in someone with existing tooling, I will never get enough of Bret, HBK, and neon cowboy Macho Man.
If the new hip joints are standardized by then, even better.
