Am I the only one who just said "F it, I don't need King Harley Race that bad" and have just been patiently waiting for the re-release? Is the original poster such a huge fan/collector of King Harley Race stuff? I never viewed this as one of those "must have" items but more like a "it'd be nice to have" figures.... Goodness, I certainly hope nothing screwy happens with THIS version! Might incite World War 3...... The fury over SDCC Sgt. Slaughter, now THAT I understand..... this figure? eh Question, why didn't rsc get a chance to buy the rest of the schedule production run of this series/set after walmart canned there order. We see ringside constantly getting walmart and target leftovers nowadays. So here is the thing though since there is not enough of an uproar, situations like this will happen again and again. Just like how on your thread year ago showing how piss poor walmart stores in your area where at getting wwe figures. Not enough people care to hold mattel and walmart accountable, its just a toy get over it.Meanwhile in a few years mattel might get bought out or go bankrupt, oh well thats a shame. Chicago I want to be clear, I want this thread to be preserved as an example of how old and slow mattel's wwe team takes when people ask for years, can you make this or release this please ? Mattel should be ashamed about this whole debacle is my opinion, and does matter. Yes its just one toy and in the grand scheme of things does not matter all that much. My whole thing is, mattel is billions in debt (fact) and looks to be poorly ran top to bottom. That is my guess since they are billions in debt. This whole debacle of this looks like is a microcosm of mattel as a whole. So for those who think this is no big deal, okay. Do not be surprised when issues like this happen again and again. For me I think we should really take mattel to task on this and not just sweep it under the rug. I really would like to know how an ebay seller was able to get a whole bunch of these figures because it will show the truth whatever it may be. How that is even possible is this day and age just boggles my mind. I also wish no ill will toward this person, they are taking advantage of walmarts/mattel blunder. I really don't like how this all went down and only little crumbs of information would come out here and there. Its very doubtful that harleys legend contract ended when the passed away. So there had to be some time before that where they could have owned this screw up and tried the correct it as soon as possible. I still think the "lines are set 2 years in advance" is not true, but lets say I am wrong. Whoever is is charge of the wwe line can not just call ringside and make a deal while there was still time ? Lastly to kirk815 it was not the person calling me "entitled" It was someone else wishing harm on me. But yes I am the scrooge, entitled, etc for pointing this out. (Hypothetically, not literally) Let's be real honest here; I honestly think the ONLY reason this figure is so sought after is BECAUSE it became so damn hard to find - Mattel/Walmart screwed up, people saw $$$ signs and began chasing it when it became impossible to find; It became a white whale among scalpers trying to make a profit. To those folks, I say this re-release serves you right. If you really want to become rich, invest your money in the stock market - buying mass-produced plastic action figures isn't going to net you thousands of dollars. I don't buy these things to make money - in fact, this hobby is actively putting me in the poor-house. I've never sold a figure (yet). I buy them because I love displaying them & occasionally getting them autographed. We all know by now that Mattel/Retail have terrible distribution. And nothing surprises me anymore after Target's Macho Man started appearing in discount stores BEFORE appearing in Target. Mattel is making this blunder right for collectors and all you can do is say "well what took them so long?" Your argument just isn't there, buddy. |

What makes me chuckle is pre this figure initially being announced no one (well Iām sure there was one) was asking for a king Harley. Then when it comes out but is hard to get of hold people lose their shit.
Iām convinced the vast majority is because thereās a pissing contest of ālook what I haveā, āmy collections better than yoursā, āI have this rare figureā and people just enjoying complaining etc rather than āman I LOVED the king Harley gimmickā. I mean who on here has a favourite king Harley match and if do have you seen more than 1? The gimmick is better known for the issue with wwf going to Memphis advertising āthe kingā and lawler suing (later dropped and settled). Not to disrespect Harleyās impact but letās face it that was nwa etc Harley.
Similarly people were not craving a chief strongbow until it was announced then cancelled then people got all twisted up and threw toys out of the pram about it. Someone on here mentioned their dad or grandad was a chief fan or the first match they watched was with that relative so they really wanted the figure (I think thatās right?) and for that person it sucks it didnāt come out. But the faux āoutrageā of it bring cancelled when thereās a couple at most of other figures who would go with it was verging on comical. People just like to bitch and moan.

This thread is wild. Also, the whole Harley situation seems very Occam's razor to me. People are looking for conspiracy theories when really it's pretty simple. Wal Mart gave up on the BAF Flashbacks line which hindered distribution. They unloaded excess warehouse inventory at discounted cost to a wholesale seller in Canada (not uncommon)who in-turn threw them on eBay. Meanwhile Mattel lost the rights because Harley's deal ended. His estate re-upped, and they're rereleasing the figure to capitalize on the demand for it. None of this is rocket science, none is nefarious, and it all makes sense.
I will say, the closest thing to a conspiracy theory I have a about it is that it became the impetus for Ringside (either directly through Mattel or not) to start getting their hands on overstock/deadstock of retail exclusives, which wasn't really a thing previously.

I have the King Harley and will get the updated one but I am hoping for an NWA Harley like CS10? as well. But I will probably buy any Harley except for maybe a manager version and that would only be because of shelf space becoming scarce. |

I don't care about any of this, I'm just glad we're getting him again. All these exclusive lines and figures have been a collector's nightmare and scalper's wet dream.
Now I'm hoping we get Gorilla Monsoon again. He never showed up around me, but it feels like Harley was the king of the rares.
