 Sorry i am a few days late, i honestly have not been paying attention. Literally the first questions to Steve's question thread. Credit to AmericanMadeLesGold on Oct 28, 2019 Thank you mattel for taking your time and finding the "right spot" and "when we had the opportunity to get harley get back out again, we would do so". I am just curious when did flashback series 3 first hit retail and so we can extrapolate the entire timeframe of this. Sorry i am not letting mattel get a pass on this. I have said before they are old and slow, and also that seller in canada made a absolute killing reselling them on ebay. The people at mattel knew flashback series 3 was going to be hard to find because it got canned and only a certain amount where made. They also short packed harley race in the baf set because why not its mattel ? This was a terrible decision, absolutely terrible. By the time people who wanted this figure and not paid ebay prices on this it will probably be closer to 5 years. I want people to know this is how long it takes for things to happen at mattel just the yellow intercontinental belt from the ultimate warrior took to get made. Also to those to are going to reply with the "another complaint thread" comment, this is the truth and these are the facts. I honestly think the people who where "in the know" of this situation at mattel should feel ashamed. This is just my opinion, though others will feel different. The being left in the dark about this whole sad saga is what I really dislike the most from mattel. |

Yep i am the bad guy for pointing this out on a wrestling figure forum. I am waiting for the, "Its just a toy, get over yourself" line. I am such an arrogant, entitled, dude with such a massive ego. (Sarcasm) Mattel can do whatever they want with the wwe line. When is takes 4 plus years to re-release something that has a large demand in your market you are too slow. Also i am trying to get into contact with the canadian ebay seller that found and resold a bunch of these. I would love to hear this persons side of the story and hopefully they will share it. I would like the know the whole story and hold the people in charge of the wwe/mattel line accountable for this bad situation. I am not going to be a mattel fan boy like others and just forget about this. So if that makes me the bad guy then so be it.  |

I'm just happy it's being re-released and I didn't give in and spend hundreds on one. I am sure that Harley's passing and having to negotiate a deal with the estate had something to do with it.

I think Walmart had a big hand in this also so you should find out from their purchasing department as well.
I think Harley Races merchandise rights ran out also amidst this time period too.

Seriously though they have said in the past the lines are set for a year or two in advance. So if it is two years in advance then they couldnāt start planning a spot until year 3. And as much as I love Harley a rerelease of King Harley isnāt going to bump someone out of their slot. And none of us work for Mattel so they donāt owe us an explanation or timeline for their plans. I know itās easy for me to say that because I found the original at Walmart when it was released. But at the end of the day I am glad Race is finally being rereleased and will probably buy this one also.

Wal-Mart cancelled the line in the midst of series 3 being released, I found remnants of a case and it was missing the set just the extras. It was a situation like Muraco they had the rights but had to slot him into the line before they lost the rights. Lines are planned out a year or 2 in advance, but someone gets bumped to make way to get a guy out.

I wanted one and spent hours in the car/lots on gas to hunt Harley back in 2018, but to assume it was a āehh, weāll get to itā situation is a bit presumptuous.
Perhaps they had Harley for a one fig deal, that fig was it and they had to wait until all of the stars aligned from a business sense?
I donāt think the process is as simple as we all would like to think.
I do think heels drag, but until informed otherwise, Iāll think positively.

That's tuff.
I just got done with the wife, and was feeling rather f'n hungry so I went to walmart at 2am or so to pick up some food. And low and behold what was waiting for me on the risers in the toy aisle? The hole BAF set! 2 of them. Had I known the value, I would've bought all. But I'm not an a hole, so I probably would've had 2nd thoughts, but I did buy the 1 set.
It was actually the easiest BAF set I ever found, even till this day. Can't find nothing have to order online.
It was a great night. Through and through, I scored twice. Well 3 if you count getting food.

There are plenty of areas where Mattel deservedly gets criticism. But this isn't one of them, imo. We're never going to get the full story. That just isn't the way this works. But it's pretty clear they didn't have the rights for a period, and now they do.

the only interesting thing id want to have expanded on is the fact that ONE person seems to be the source for the Harley figures and im not quite sure how that could happen.
ill be candid and say i ended up buying the entire set he was offering and it worked out really good financially. especially with the BAF of the set ending up being stupendously rare aswell i thought the value was worth it.

Flashback 3 came out in October 2018. Harley Race passed away so his Legends deal probably ended with that and had to be reworked with his estate.
