well he does get a lot of stupid questions in his Q&A thread plus he’s under zero obligation to come on here and say or do anything sooooooo For real, a lot of those are not even questions, some straight up sound like complaints and demands. I'm glad he hasn't decided to quit this forum yet given some of the comments he sees here. I’m sure he’s not bothered by it. He came up on these forums dealing with and talking sht just like 99% of us.

Our direct contact from Mattel (Steve) to help us get answers, truth, and insight into our hobby seems to have taken a significant break from this forum. Hmmmmmmmmmm. I wonder why? Because the crowdfund failed? What are you even getting at with this post? That we should've all forked over $400 a few more times? That we didn't beg the guy at the bus stop to order his own toy Nitro stage? That we should've all backed 4 each to keep the Q&A thread going? Whether or not AFA is taking a break because he has hurt feelings over this project, is not your business; my business; or anyone else's business. Its also baseless assumption, and a foolish one to post with no context, but with sarcasm that looks to point fingers. And I don't think its off-base to suggest that maybe posts name dropping him and calling out his recent absense is far more the fault, rather than inability to accept this project just didn't see the light of day. At the end of the day, he's a dude with a job and a hobby. I mean what a stupid thing to post. Really. Par for the course around here.

I know this is salt in the wound for a lot of us, but... Haslab just revealed the next GI Joe Classified crowdfund. 6in scale Dragonfly helicopter w/ 1 figure. 10k minimum backers, with additional figures at 13k, 16k and 19k. $275. The project already has 2,500 backers half an hour in. They're taking Paypal, letting people make payments on it too (because the pay-in-4 option on Paypal ALWAYS works), and it's already 100% funded. Imagine that.

Its 100% funded because GI Joe Classified lends itself better to the crowdfunding platform and has a fanbase willing to support it. Joe collectors want these sort of things and are willing to open up their wallets to acquire them. WWE fans are either too nitpicky, too cheap, too spread out amongst different eras, mainly only care about figs, and various other reasons limiting the chances of crowdfunds to be successful.

That thing's 3 feet long, has multiple lighting combinations, a functioning tow hoist, spinning rotors, and one figure for $275.00. Looks to me like they're offering the best payment methods and bang for the buck and collectors like it. I don't buy the whole "WWE fans are too nitpicky, too cheap" etc. I would if the New Gen project failed, but it didn't.

New Gen at $250 funded on the last possible day after weeks of everyone complaining and woulda failed had Macho not been thrown in. It’s OK to admit that big ticket crowdfunding projects just aren’t for this community. Nothing Mattel can offer will generate the amount of buzz and excitement the same way a vehicle in the Classified line can.

Yeah, it had a little tweaking, but it made it. The value wasn't there at first, it had fine tuning, and in the end it was successful, and in the same price range as this Joe project. It's okay if you want to tell yourself big ticket crowdfunding projects aren't for this community, but it's nothing to do with reality.

The perception is that the value wasn’t there for a giant light up entrance, brand new full scale ring and a figure for $250. It barely got 1000 backers in 3 weeks. But a helicopter and a figure for $275 gets 10K in a day. Their community vs ours. We come up with excuses on why we don’t wanna buy it and/or hold out hoping they sweeten the pot while they’re throwing money at everything that’s being offered.

AND on top of everything you've said, which is spot on btw...Mattel has RUINED future perceived value for every WWE Crowdfund from here on out because of how they handled it. I understand WHY they threw Macho Man in...I understand WHY they moved a second figure to the 5000 backer level on the Nitro Stage... But moving forward, no matter how small they make their profit margins, this community will complain that it is too expensive, and they KNOW Mattel is holding something back to sweeten the pot. For this community, every crowdfund will be too big, or too expensive, or the figs are the wrong ones...It was borderline infuriating to listen to people talk about how at 5 figures and the stage, it was too expensive. This community refused to even understand that stretch goals are not even part of the initial value of the product. And then you watch the GI Joe Community rip off more than double the backers in less than 24 hours. Basically funding this thing in 24 hours, and at this point just over 1700 backers from the first stretch goal...it sucks. But I'm going to enjoy my Classified DragonFly lol

Stupid move but Mattel allowed it to happen after not constructing the project correctly [?] Personal opinion here but it sucks so much that we didn't get it backed - once in a lifetime opportunity for this stage and it's gone.

Say whatever you want about the New Gen project, but it all worked out in the end, proving people in "our community" will back expensive stuff if we feel the value is there. I get it, you have anger issues towards "our community" or something because the Nitro project didn't. The consumer decides if the value is worth it, not the supplier. That's how it works. It's more than just a helicopter and a figure over there too. It's 3 feet long, just like the stage would have been, and does all kinds of stuff, has all kinds of accessories, and a 6 inch ultimate-style figure...and costs half as much...like I said before. But you know that. I'm sure you read it on Haslab. That's why they're throwing money at it. But y'all go ahead and blame the community because Mattel wanted to charge $450 (plus another couple hundred for overseas backers) for a 3 foot toy and a fig, and Hasbro's only charging $275. LOL.

For fun I will throw in the fact that Mattel has to pay WWE for licensing where Hasbro owns GI Joe which cuts down some huge costs.

As pointed out, GI Joe - like Star Wars - is far better suited for these types of things... there are loads of vehicles and playsets to draw from - and vehicles are a big part of the overall line(s).
Conversely, with wrestling you only really need a ring for your figures... and that's pretty much it. And even then, I've seen some huge collections that don't even bother with a ring, and just focus on the figures. At the end of the day, the Nitro stage was not something the majority of collectors wanted.

Or any number of other reasons that have been pointed out in this thread numerous times already.

If Mattel could have manufactured and sold the Stage for $275, they would have. You're insinuating that these two items have similar production costs, which means your insinuating that Mattel was set to make an additional $175 of pure profit over whatever Hasbro might be making on the Classified Haslab... you're argument is completely asinine...its borderline idiotic frankly.

Before you call someone borderline idiotic and asinine, learn the difference between "you're" and "your" for starters. You think businesses aren't out to make profit? 🤣 Sometimes they try to make too much and it backfires. I stand by what I said.
