Also. 18 years ? Jesus christ man. That's the saddest thing I have heard this year. You don't say stuff like that out loud. Yes, I’ve spent every second of those 18 years doing nothing but reading this board. I didn’t get married, start my own comicon, become an event promoter, be honored by multiple nonprofits, have a hand in finding a few lost silent films, and personally raise over $200,000 for homeless children. Nope, just looking at this board. My life has been nothing compared to jumpinjefffarmer. LMFAO. Lol what does any of this personal ego stroking have to do with wrestling figures? And to preface - I 100% know that Steve or Bill (or theman's buddy who owns a toy shop) will NEVER answer, but I'm curious on our own board's wild speculation....
Since we can all see how many WCW Nitro sets have sold in live time...... and the results are, maybe a bit light.....
How many Gooker sets do you think they moved in the first 48 hours? More than Nitro? Less than Nitro?
And yeah I fully realize $400 is a LOT even for us hardcore collectors..... BUT I also think $75 is pretty steep for essentially a novelty character - that only had ONE legitimate appearance (non-wrestling) in WWE..... that was universally crapped upon when it actually happened..... it was basically a bad joke (that didn't have a punchline - the joke was on us).
So how 'bout it WFIGS? Have they moved 1200 Gooker sets yet? 2000?
If they'd "crowd-funded" a Gooker set - would it have surpassed 5000 already at $75?
I mean.... people are bitching left & right about the figures included with Nitro..... and the same people are universally praising the release of a joke figure.
And yes.... I did order BOTH the Nitro set and a Gooker set. I'm just trying to understand this craze!
I'm legit curious on people's thoughts.....

I think that the presence of the grey/black gloves Ultimate Taker (in the second Ultimate Taker and first pre-Attitude one) definitely pushed it over that number. Also, while I do agree $75 is steep for something obscure, it’s also a much more “expendable” number (for most people, obviously nothing involving money is universal) for impulse purchases than $400. |
