Not sure if I like this. Pro’s I get some figs maybe I don’t have. Bad part all the money I spent on hard to get figs are gone. I understand focus here and there, but come on man sign legends make figs. Not sign and re make old figs. About to loose value top to bottom, or am I over reacting in. Thought ?

I’ve been collecting Legends since day one of Mattel with no intent to sell anything, so I’m just glad I don’t have to worry about damaging or losing part of a figure that would be expensive to replace. I hope to see a few that I lost in a flood re-released.
Mostly, I’m just happy about these three points: - Upgrades to True FX and pinless joints - Certain parts needed for customs are no longer expensive - New collectors can acquire the figures for retail.
The only real con for collectors is that people who paid secondary market prices can feel like they overpaid, but like I said, there’s still that opportunity for folks to save a lot of money.

Working on sunk cost fallacy here.
If you're angry that you 'wasted' your money on the figures you have now, rather than having them later and paying less? You aren't losing money by these new figures coming out because that money is long gone. The figures could have been released three days after you spent money on the originals, you still wouldn't be 'losing money', it's just an unfortunate situation.
If, however, you are upset because the figures you spent money on are worth less.... uhh, maybe trade stocks instead. Or go into vintage star wars or something. Mattel WWE figures really aren't the sort of thing that are worth using as a financial investment. They proved early on that they have no qualms about releasing figures multiple times, this isn't a new practice for them. If you want to build a 'plastic portfolio" out of wrestling figures, go with something like the original LJNs or Hogan Prototypes. Those you might have some luck on.
Personally? I didn't get into Mattel figures until long into the run so any releases they make of figures I want, I'll happily take. Less money I have to worry about trying to spend. And, if they were to release a figure I spent a ton of money on on secondary, such as Elite 71 Big Show, then I'd be thrilled for the people who missed out the first time. More love across the hobby, I say. Everyone deserves the figures they want, without being upset over things like sky-high secondary prices or crappy distribution.
(Sidenote: If they ever got Big Show back under contract, that would be the perfect choice for a Greatest Hits rerelease. 100% needs another go for that one.)

They aren't an investment. Get what you want to have, not what you think will be valuable later. These re-releases are risky for Mattel if they pick something that not enough people wanted again, so I am grateful for a second shot because I had to stop collecting for many years during Mattel's run. And they get IMPROVEMENTS which is great, especially for the faces.

I don't have any problems with it,I'm not selling what I have anyways so whatever the secondary price is means nothing to me and I might get a figure for $20 that I've been thinking about giving a hundred + for.

Don’t care. It’s best for new collectors so more people can collect great figures previously released for retail price

Doesn't affect me at all. I don't buy these so I can send my kids to college someday.
Only time I sold one that I still wanted was Harley. I knew there would be another eventually, so I sold while the getting was still good.

Just a matter of deciding if I need to “upgrade” them or not. Is it worth spending the money to own the same figure I already have, just with new parts and FX scans? Not sure.

I welcome it. When these rereleases started up I just knew most of the figures that I missed out on now have a a potential second chance at retail. Bulldog, Funk, Ultimate Bret, Ultimate HBK, Ultimate HHH. Hell even Harley Race happened. At this point it’s only a matter of time for the rest. I need Mattel to redo Phantom Mysterio, KOTR Bret, and a handful others. It would be great to see them redo Martel, the Road Warriors and Demolition again, but I’m sure those are far harder to do again. But we’re in a “never say never” type of time period.

My opinion is that a re release should always be an upgrade in one way or another
Pinless arms
Pinless knees
Accessories that didnt make the cut before
New heads, torsos, hands
Etc

I love it for figures that may have been a bit harder to find originally or that are rarer these days. I collect because I like the figures, not for some type of investment.

As a collector since day 1, I would be lying if I said it didn’t bother me that some of the figures that I got early on are being re-released. It’s not that I even sell my figures or have any intent on doing so. It’s just nice, however, to have more unique (or dare I say “rarer”) figures in your collection.
But what bothers me even more is the missed opportunity from Mattel that would minimize my first point. Rather than just re-release them, make a small change to the attire - almost like a chase version years later. Put Funk in all grey and black tights without the red. Or give him an ECW shirt instead of the belt. Put Bulldog in red and gold tights instead of the exact L2 version. Even if it’s just a color change, it’s really a missed opportunity for everyone not to do it that way.
Those who missed out are happy they can still get that character. Those who already have him now have the chance to get a slightly different version while keeping the uniqueness of the original release.

I have no interest in being a Mattel completist, so re-releases are really not a concern for me. Also could not care less about the value of my collection to others. I buy what I like in that moment and don’t worry about hunks of plastic being considered obsolete in a months time. None of it matters. If there’s a figure that I missed out on in its original run, like Legends Bulldog, and I have the opportunity to get one for retail price in 2023, I just thank my lucky stars that Mattel picked something I want.

Man oh man I have a issue with these re release figures, I am a collector and have really great pride in sought after figures that I own, it’s a great feeling, for people that missed out it’s great, but it’s terrible for those that took a chance on that figure, it’s honestly not fair, the least Mattel can do is might slight changes like they did with warrior just now so it’s not the exact same figure, they added greatest hits to the back which is good but change up the accessories, change the color do something and that way you make both parties somewhat happy, but honestly Mattel could care less about that, they are making money and that’s all that counts, I don’t blame them, it’s still not fair tho, I’m against it.

My wife took my kids because I spent my HARD EARNED MONEY on hard to get figures just for them to be rereleased at a retail price!
