hasbro does this in star wars with the archive series.
its a great idea!
THEYRE JUST ACTION FIGURES. everyone should have the chance to own whatever they want. ill admit that i have paid up for some figures and even some that have been re-released so far and it sucks, yeah but im glad theyre updating those most sought after figures, AND giving everyone a chance to own them. i dont think anything should be exclusive anymore, maybe just "early access" but no more limited exclusives. unless its ringside ofcourse

Update and sell older might loose some money but I don't make my hobby my life blood. I own a toy store with other stuff for a reason.

I'm neither for or against it, as it doesn't really affect me... if I wanted a figure when it was originally released, then I most likely already have it. Some of the updates are cool... but don't really make much difference if you already have the figure from it's first release. And the original packaging is different too.
I do think some of the choices for the Greatest Hits and Best Of waves are a bit strange (where's all-red Nash? white-ranger Seth?) - but Mattel probably know better than me, lol.

Are you asking about releasing the same exact figure? Or more of the same wrestlers? Either way I am fine with it. But the most I have ever paid for a wrestling figure is whatever P/O 1 is for a RSC Exclusive with shipping after the 10% odd code. Everything else I paid retail price for. So if they want to release more of the exact same figure they can go ahead. I’ll either buy another or pass for something else.

People actually get really into their feelings over this. I've had people DM me threats because they are little bitch boys. I think it's great. I mean, the first Bulldog had arm issues with arm breakage, and I'm sure some people that had theirs break when prices were too high to replace will love that. You want to make money, play the stock market. These are mass produced pieces of plastic meant for kids. I have the original figures, but with the new double joints I'll probably be up for the upgrades. I'll end up selling the older ones. Win win.

I’ve been collecting Legends since day one of Mattel with no intent to sell anything, so I’m just glad I don’t have to worry about damaging or losing part of a figure that would be expensive to replace. I hope to see a few that I lost in a flood re-released. Mostly, I’m just happy about these three points: - Upgrades to True FX and pinless joints - Certain parts needed for customs are no longer expensive - New collectors can acquire the figures for retail. The only real con for collectors is that people who paid secondary market prices can feel like they overpaid, but like I said, there’s still that opportunity for folks to save a lot of money. That's the risk you take when paying secondary market for toys.

Personally, I love it. I was out of the action figure game for a really long time, but came across the Ultimate Kane and Undertaker by chance and had to buy them both. I have no interest in collecting current characters, but the re-releases and Legends line are helping me assemble an Attitude Era roster which is great.

Bring em on!
And for the exclusive elites (RSC, target, Walmart etc), re release them as upgrade ultimates
So the "mah value is gone" people won't get their panties in a bunch since it won't be elites.

Rerelease everything, life's too short to get mad thinking you're gonna strike gold with action figures.

I didn’t start collecting again until 2020, but have amassed over 300 figures since. I typically won’t spend more than $60 on a figure in the secondary market (broke this for Legends Bulldog, MITB attire CM Punk and New Gen Macho Ultimate), but for me, I appreciate the re-releases of figures I missed. I’ve also had sought after figures before they got big secondary market prices (Bret Ultimate and Jake Roberts from the Harley line). I prefer the re-releases since I didn’t get into this to make money.

It makes me really happy. I've been back collecting wrestling figures for about 5 years, but only this year did I finally decide to jump in and start an elite-scale collection. It always just seemed too unattainable because of the price of older, necessary figures, but re-releases have really made it possible to join the club so far downstream. Also, Mattel has gotten so much better at making figures in the last 3-5 years. Not perfect, but the Greatest Hits line is a tangible reflection of how far figure technology has come in the time that Mattel has had the license. It would be a shame to not go back to older looks that could easily be improved upon today.
I do live both sides of it, the jewel of my collection is a MIB RSC Exclusive Macho King (and a Wolfpac Mach that's rapidly gaining on it in price). Do I love looking up at those figures and knowing what they're worth? Of course, but if I didn't have them I'd be heartbroken that they're now so unattainable. I'd rather have the figures/collection I want than the ability to mentally masturbate over how much my collection is worth.

I like it. If it’s something I missed or it’s an upgrade then I’ll get it most likely. If not, it’s giving thousands of collectors a chance at the figure for retail
I don’t care about anyone’s figure value. At all. The notion that “Mattel hates collectors” when there is a rerelease is such an ass backwards way of looking at it.

The only annoying thing for me is already having these particular guys in my collection. It's the ones like Model Rick Martel that I want re-released! Guessing he doesn't have a Legends contract I guess? Still, I got King Harley Race recently so good for those who were hanging out for some of these other ones.

The re-release got me King Harley Race. My collection is limited to Ken Shamrock and the Wrestlemania 3 roster so getting Race at retail cost was perfect.

Well I love when other people tell other people how they think they should feel about something , ignorance… . What you feel isn’t what other feels, your way isn’t the right way there …there is no right way… I to have been collecting since day 1 and hate it ,I took pride in my rarer figs and it made them cooler being worth more… if you think I’m a scalper or money hungry whatever…there’s a lot of us that feel this way and to berated for it is unneeded hated ,being a d1ck just to be one . I’m never selling my whole main collection ever (over 400 elites) it’s just way cooler to me when I have some that are way harder to find/worth more..

These figures are not worth a lot of money. Period. It doesn't matter if some are rare, some are mass produced, some you paid more for that others paid less for, some you paid a lot for that were later rereleased, or some you pre-order just to have it first. They're toys. You can count on one hand the amount of wrestling figures that some collector has sold and made a large return. Any figure is technically obtainable due to the Internet. Just buy what you want to buy and enjoy life. Don't get upset a figure you paid a lot for was available again one day for cheap. If anything, and as many of us are now learning, just wait. You'll be able to get almost everything you want months after release for super cheap from RSC's sales or off the Bay. FOMO and the have-to-have-it-now crowd are these companies favorite customers. And if you're upset over the amount you paid for something that later came out cheaper ... maybe you shouldn't have bought it in the first place.
