You can tell a lot about a person who is upset about reissues. A person who is upset collects to impress others or because of what percieved status they have in a collecting community. If you get upset because of a loss in value then you should play the stock market and not toy collecting. I have collected from the beginning. I get what I like and have been more than happy to help out others when I can. I traded a guy extra Von Erich figures for a Harley Race. I was more than happy that they re-released Race and that others could add him to their collection. I have all of the original legends and hope they all get re-released. I do wish Mattel could be more like Jakks in offering different legends. I'm at the point where I can now easily pass on figures because I really don't need 10 Hogans or Jake Roberts. I ultimately would love for everyone to be able to get the figures they want.

If the market can support re-releases, then make re-releases. People are just getting into or getting back into collecting all the time, and more availability means an easier time for new and returning collectors.

Now that they created additional lines for the re-releases, I have 0 issues with them.
My biggest issue has been getting the same figure released and taking a spot (they only have so many figures that they can release a year) that could go to a different look or Legend. For example, if they rereleased the USA Warrior look yet again in the normal Legends line, it would have sucked since he has so many other attires that they need to do already. Although I am kinda shocked that they went with that and didn't do HOC which is an amazing figure that most people didn't get.
This is coming from someone that has most of these figures so far. I have all of the Best of Legends and GH2, GH1 (was only missing Rey and Taker), and for GH3, I'm missing Scorpion Rock (not sure if I will buy him), Truth, Bray (unreleased), and Piper/John Nada (which Walmart cancelled multiple times on me).
I actually enjoy picking and choosing which figures benefitted the most from the upgrades/newer technology without stressing about buying them right away (although I waited too long to pick up Rikishi from GH1 so I'm stuck with the original).
Mattel is a business and it would be bad business move to not release older figures just because it might upset a very small percentage of the fanbase. Rereleases have been happening for years and the line is thriving.

To the people who are upset about losing what I'm getting the impression is clout over having rare figures, I do have to ask... who are you collecting for? Not saying you shouldn't feel what you do but if the figure brings you pride, why wouldn't that come from within? You known that's a rare figure, the original article. You know the story of it and what it took to get it. Why are you concerned about how it might make you better than others for have said figure?
Seems like a bit of a misplaced mindset. If you are proud of your rare figures, that's great. You should be. I'm extremely proud of my Jakks Christy Hemme and Denim Skirt Melina. But they're meaningful for me, not because I feel they make me better than anyone else.
Just a thought.

People actually get really into their feelings over this. I've had people DM me threats because they are little bitch boys. I think it's great. I mean, the first Bulldog had arm issues with arm breakage, and I'm sure some people that had theirs break when prices were too high to replace will love that. You want to make money, play the stock market. These are mass produced pieces of plastic meant for kids. I have the original figures, but with the new double joints I'll probably be up for the upgrades. I'll end up selling the older ones. Win win. I was with you until you said "meant for kids"

as long as they’re good ones and make sense
no need to rerelease things that are around retail on eBay

Lots of judgemental comments about those who are upset about this ranking figure values. Well I am one of those people. Look I don't buy them to get rich no one does but I like my collection. Is it cool to have pieces that not everyone else has for sure. Tanking the value of a product has never worked well for any collectible item. Think if card companies started reprinting rookies of Superstar players? Why are the low numbered ones worth the most? Sought after by collectors. You take the collector out of the picture it never goes well long haul. Sure Mattel makes their money with re-releases but this will turn some to other wrestling collectibles. I dont collect for value but it's nice to not have value completely removed.

Re release every figure from elite and basic series 1 to whatever number we are on now. Re release all the ultimates too. Bring back the CAS line, BCAs, Maximum Sweat, and TTL while we are at it.

Rereleases we won't see, Sting, LOD, Demolition ☝️ Never say never... they might get figure deals again one day. I think the Stinger will be retiring soon too, so may end up signing a Legends deal(?). Just imagine UE Stings...

Just a thought LOL Why do you need to look like you care about random dudes mental health on here? You know you really don’t , you wanna be a passive aggressive prick taking a side swipe at some random guys online .. So if a guy that collects rare cars value goes down by half on a rare one by half because it was reissued he’s not aloud to be irked? just like the other guy that said that we collect for validation ,he also said “ I hope everyone has a chance at them , that’s why I like reissues “ he’s full of crap to, trying to make himself look like a caring goody good on a forum. You sit at home thinking “hey I hope he gets that fig he wants” Being Passive aggressive online, you need to look in the mirror

If you really want your opinion heard, dial 1-900-909-9900. That's 1-900-909-9900. Kids, get your parents permission before you call.

Mattel is doing the right thing, in saying nah that gimme more money so we ALL can eat.

I'm personally all for it...I understand those that want their figures to be worth more money, but that's a risk you take.
Personally, I collect these things because I think they are cool and they give me a nostalgia kick from back when I was a kid watching these guys on TV.
Does it kinda suck that I paid over retail for an OG Warrior Halloween Havoc Ultimate? And now it's getting re-releases? Or that I've paid secondary market prices for 3 Rumble 91 Warriors, and bought a custom lavender strapped winged eagle to go with one? Sure!
But I'm all for people having the opportunity to experience these figures as well...
And I'm buying multiples of the re-releases because Mattel took the opportunity to upgrade the figures as well

The petty urge to see where the "I need figures other people don't have" crowd stood during the great Peter Dunne Wars of 2019.

An absolute waste on re-releases. Make them with slightly different attires like they are doing with Bruno.

I dont collect for value but it's nice to not have value completely removed. So what Mattel figures are numbered like a sports card? There's no gold Hogan prizm /10 available. I can say for 100% certainty that no one is going to stop buying figures because Mattel is letting people get their hands on old figures that they couldn't when they were released. The WWE Mattel line is 13 years old which means someone who is 23 now may have not been able to get a lot of the early releases. No one should be gatekeeping wrestling figures. Outside of maybe an original series 1 Jeff Hardy there isn't a single figure Mattel has produced that's worth life changing money. Don't be bitter just be happy that people get to enjoy the same things you do. That's how a community thrives
