ROH NewswireJanuary 15th: At Final Battle 2007; ROH crowned its 9th ROH World Champion in Davey Richards. Richards turned on partner Delirious after living in Delirious’ shadow for near a year. Davey snapped and now holds the belt he has long sought after. However if Richards thought it was plain sailing from here on out he is clearly mistake, Davey has a list of challengers a mile long and at the top of that list; Takeshi Morishima who defeated Nigel McGuinness in a classic encounter last night as well as Bryan Danielson who defeated partner Jimmy Rave. Davey will need eyes in the back of his head to whether this oncoming storm. January 15th: The Briscoe’s defeated Team BLKOUT lead by Homicide & Eddie Kingston, due to the stipulations of this match Homicide has been forced to leave the company for good. Kingston and his team mates; Sabian, Joker & Ruckus remain however and will look to gain a measure of revenge on ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe. January 15th: At Final Battle Austin Aries finally defeated Roderick Strong taking his FIP World Title in the process. Aries is once again a World Champion and has vowed to defend the belt against all comers. He will start against a man that defeated him last year in Mike Quackenbush. January 15th: At Final Battle Jimmy Rave suffered a fractured jaw in his match with Bryan Danielson, Rave will miss several weeks of ring time due to the injury. We wish Jimmy well on his road to recovery and hope to see him back in active competition as soon as possible. Ring of Honor ROH January 18th January 18th, 2008- 7:00 pm belltime Boston University, Case Gym 285 Babcock Street, Boston, MA 02215

January 15th: Due to his victory over Jimmy Rave, Bryan Danielson has received an ROH World Title Match. Danielson lost the right to compete for the belt last year at the hands of Richards & then champion Delirious. Now that the ROH World Title has changed hands that stipulation has been revoked and he will once again be able to challenge for the title he held for fifteen months. January 15th: SHIMMER woman’s action in ROH will start off with along as arguably two of the best women’s wrestlers in the world go head to head. Amazing Kong will face Sara Del Rey in one on one competition. Kong defeated Haze at Final Battle and will look to do the same on January 18th and earn a shot at Del Rey’s SHIMMER title belt. January 15th: Matt Cross will return to ROH action, as will Erick Stevens. Cross of course was Christopher Daniels protégé as a member of the New Prophecy however when Daniels abruptly left Ring of Honor Cross struggled to find his place on the active roster. Stevens on the other hand had several occasional appearances last year and will be looking to earn a full time roster spot in the near future. Cross and Stevens will have tough opposition in a Four Corner Survival match also featuring Jigsaw & Hallowicked who have become regulars of ROH competition.

Your next show is shaping up nicely, cant wait for Richards/ Danielson, should be one hell of a match. Aries/ Quack should be awesome, and it is always good to see four corners action.

ROH: Rejuvenated (January 18th; Boston MA, Boston)-The show opened with Davey Richards coming to the ring. The new ROH World Champion tried out his new heel mannerisms inciting the crowd and insulting former champ and partner Delirious. Eventually Delirious would hit the ring and rant at Davey before screaming “Rematch! Rematch! Rematch!” This brought out Takeshi Morishima …Takeshi Morishima def. DeliriousAs Morishima entered the ring Richards shoved Delirious towards him. Morishima began to beat Delirious down as a ref ran to the ring and rang the bell starting this impromptu contest. Delirious tried to make a comeback avoiding a Morishima Lariat and hitting a leaping one of his own. Delirious would also hit the Panic Attack however his downfall would come as he attempted the Shadows over Heel. Morishima caught him and dumped him viciously down to the mat. A Backdrop Driver & Lariat later and Delirious was done. Four Corner Survival: Hallowicked def. Jigsaw, Erik Stevens & Matt CrossHallowicked picked up a huge victory here in a fun fast paced opener. Cross and Stevens both put in good performances and impressed, Cross has stepped up his game considerably since leaving the active ROH roster late last year. Stevens was brutal throughout hitting Jigsaw with a Doctor Bomb towards the end for a close two count. Hallowicked eventually pinned Cross for the three count following the Go 2 Sleepy Hollow & Yakuza kick. The Briscoe’s def. The YRRJason Blade & Kenny King returned to Ring of Honor competition in style as they took on ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoe Brothers. Last year El Generico & Kevin Steen made a huge impression when they faced Jay & Mark early in the year, The YRR did the same here. They were given much more offense than expected and came close to winning on more than one occasion. Eventually the Tag Team champions put Blade away with the Springboard Doomsday Device. -After the match The BLKOUT came to the ring from the entrance way, the first time since joining the company. Kingston threatened Jay & Mark saying they may have beaten them last night, but they’re still standing and The BLKOUT are still here. Kingston would then demand the Briscoe’s give them a rematch for the ROH World Tag Team Championships. Jay & Mark told Ruckus, Sabian, Joker & Kingston they didn’t deserve a title shot before leaving the ring.Tyler Black w/ Lacey def. Rocky RomeroTyler Black picked up an important win over Rocky Romero in what was a surprising MOTN candidate. Romero is very over with the fans and Lacey has gotten a lot of Heel Heat on Black since he joined the Ring of Honor roster last year. Black put in one hell of a performance here and could very well be this year’s break out star if he keeps up at this pace. He finished Romero off with the Small Package Driver after narrowly escaping an Arm Bar. --Intermission--During intermission, Jimmy Jacobs cut a promo alongside BJ Whitmer. Jacobs said that for the last few years, he’s been obsessed with Lacey, in love with Lacey. He said Whitmer helped him see the light and now that love is gone. Jacobs claimed his vision was no longer hazed, and his future no longer uncertain. Jacobs said he knew what he must do know. Jacobs then asked if Whitmer was with him, BJ said yes. --End Intermission--Jimmy Jacobs w/BJ Whitmer def. Nigel McGuinnessJacobs surprised just about everyone when he picked up the win here, in what was a very good match. Jacobs proved he’s not just about hardcore matches and railroad spikes as he held his own in there with Nigel. McGuinness came close to victory a couple of times, but Jacobs was able to show his resilience in kicking out. Eventually Jacobs picked up the win countering the Tower of London by forcing Nigel down to the mat by the hair before hitting a top rope Senton. -After the match Jacobs helped Nigel to his feet, and extended his hand. Nigel shook it but as he did Jacobs yanked McGuinness towards him before taking him down with the Guillotine Choke. He was able to make Nigel pass out before BJ separated them. Afterwards Jacobs got a microphone and said this is his mission. He must eliminate threats, and potential obstacles on route to his ultimate goal. Jacobs then made Whitmer hoist McGuinness up so he could Spear him. SHIMMER Attraction Match: Amazing Kong def. Sara Del Rey. Really good women’s match here, Sara Del Rey is awesome, Kong is Amazing and it made for good viewing. Del Rey is probably one of the few Woman around who can match Kong size wise and she put up a good fight exchanging strikes with Kong. She nearly got Kong up for the Royal Butterfly late on but Kong thought her way free and hit the spinning backfist. Kong would follow up with the Sit out Powerbomb for victory. As a result Kong will receive a future shot at the SHIMMER title. FIP World Title Match: Austin Aries © def. Mike QuackenbushQuack has been working down in FIP for the last several months and earned a title shot in a gauntlet match on their last show of 2007. He also holds over a win over Austin Aries from last year’s Survival of the Fittest event. The fans were really into things from the start and it gave the match a big time feel to it which was great and seemed to spur the participants on. Aries basically relied on his tried and proven offense whilst Quack used varying holds and manoeuvres to damage the legs and arms of his opponent. This would come into play later as Aries was unable to lift “Lightning” Mike for the Brainbuster allowing Quack to escape at hit the Q.D II. Aries kicked out and would eventually hit the 450 Splash for victory. -After the match Gran Akuma made a surprise appearance. Akuma talked about how hard he’s worked down in Florida, to earn a shot at the FIP Title. Akuma demanded a shot at the title which Aries gladly gave to him.ROH World Title Match: Davey Richards © def. Bryan DanielsonFans were really hot for this one, and hoped to god Danielson took the belt from Richards. Richards has thus far done a great job of transitioning into his heel role, Danielson likewise has gone from one of the most hated members of the roster to one of the most loved. It’s a testament to both men’s versatility. That being said they put on a pretty average match for both men’s standards, it was good but could have been a lot, lot better. Richards eventually took victory when he managed to counter his way out of the Cattle Mutilation and hit a huge German Suplex, he would transition into the Kimura Lock for victory.

Now that I know the ROH guys a bit better after ordering Man Up, I can follow a diary better, and your first show was very good. I liked Morishima winning that first match, and the 4 Corner Survival was good, though I really wanted Stevens to win. I'm not a huge fan of the Briscoes, but I'm glad they won here, and Aries defeating Quackenbush is good. Nigel losing was surprising, yet I liked it, added some unpredicability to the show. I was sad to see Romero lose, as he is possibly my favorite in ROH, but oh well. Richards defeating Danielson made me happy.
Drop a reply to TNA?

THANK GOD YOU BROUGHT THIS BACK. Was shocked that DR beat Danielson, in all seriousness, but I hope you give him a killer run with the belt as opposed to a Homicide run.

Having Richards going over Danielson ensures that he is a legitimate champion. Aries/ Quack sounded amazing, and Jacobs going over McGuiness really shocked me. Good to see the Briscoes getting the win, and Morishima/ Delirious shows that your booking is still as good as ever.

ROH: Gold Rush (January 19th; Boston MA, Boston)-Before the show Bryan Danielson & Delirious both cut promos talking about their ROH World Title match later on. They both laid rightful claim to the belt before making to clear to Richards they both intend on walking out as ROH World Champion,The BLKOUT def Mike Quackenbush & JigsawReally good opener, Ruckus & Sabian worked well with Quackenbush & Jigsaw due to their similar fast paced styles. Crowd were pulling for Quack & Jigsaw who have become fan favourites over the last year or so. They nearly picked up the victory with the Leap of Faith/Swanton Combination but Ruckus made the save for his time. Ruckus would later hit Jigsaw with the Razzle Dazzle and corkscrew body press, this served as a set up for Sabian’s top rope Senton which gained victory for The BLKOUT. -After the match Ruckus & Sabian talked into the camera as they made their way to the back, sarcastically asking the Briscoe’s if their worthy of a Tag title shot yet.Brent Albright w/Lacey def. Ricky ReyesAlbright is a beast, he tore Reyes apart and looked good doing it. Reyes had his moments of offence in the match hitting a nice sequence of neck breakers at one point but Albright was always going to win this. And he did hitting a Half Nelson Suplex before applying the Crowbar forcing Reyes to tap out. Erick Stevens def. HallowickedStevens and Hallowicked were given plenty of time to showcase what they can do and they put on a good solid match. Hallowicked deserves a lot more than he’s gotten thus far in ROH & Stevens has looked good in all of his outings so far. He eventually picked up the win with the TKO following the Choo! Choo! splash in the corner and a tossup Powerslam. FIP World Title Match: Austin Aries © def. Gran AkumaAustin Aries defeated Gran Akuma in tremendous fashion here, however Aries gave Akuma a lot of offense and made him look strong and like a viable contender for the title. Akuma nearly took the win with the Yoshi-Tonic but Aries would kick out and go onto hit his trademark boot to the head, Brainbuster & 450 Splash combination for the victory. --Intermission---During intermission, Austin Aries reiterated his open challenge to anyone who wants a shot at the FIP World title.--End Intermission--Matt Cross def Jack EvansFast paced fun for all here. Evans was a lot better than he’s been over the last year or so, focusing more on his acrobatic kicks and mat game than taking every risk possible. Cross has also improved his basics which make him a far better wrestler than he was. Cross took victory with the Headbreaker/Split Legged Moonsault combination. El Generico & Kevin Steen def. The King’s of Wrestling w/Larry SweeneyReally good stuff here, both teams have had a run of good matches over the last several months and looked good in there together. Steen mocked Hero at times and had the fans in fits of laughter which made the match all the more enjoyable. The match picked up towards the end and became much more serious in tone. All four men traded holds and finisher attempts, one particular saw Generico flip out of the Alpamare Waterslide and connect with the Brainbuster on Claudio for a two count. The finish saw a moment of miscommunication from K.O.W which allowed Generico & Steen to connect with the Assembly Line for victory. -After the match Chris Hero left the ringside area visibly annoyed at the recent string of loses.Nigel McGuinness def. BJ WhitmerWhitmer put on a good display with McGuinness here, they traded strikes for a lot of it and it did become a little tiresome after a while however there was plenty of other stuff here to keep fans interested. McGuinness would dominate most of the match and came away with a victory after connecting with the Tower of London. -After the match McGuinness called out Jimmy Jacobs. Jacobs did not come from the entrance way, but rather tried to attack McGuinness from behind. Jacobs had the upper hand for several seconds before Nigel nearly knocked him out of his boots with a Lariat. Jacobs & Whitmer fled as McGuinness was left fuming in the ring.ROH World Title, Four Corner Survival Match: Davey Richards © def. Bryan Danielson, Delirious & Takeshi MorishimaAwesome match here, all four individuals are over with the fans and have the in ring ability to put on a solid match. This was a lot more than solid, they tore the house down and when it was over the fans were on their feet applauding nonstop. It started slow, until Morishima was tagged in and ran wild over everyone, Dragon & Morishima had some awesome striking exchanges, Delirious also tried to topple the big man in vengeance for the attack the previous night. Despite this Morishima dominated and came close to victory with the Backdrop Driver on Delirious but Dragon made the save. Later Danielson hit Morishima with a Super-plex for an agonising two count. Davey would somehow scrape through and walk away with the belt when he rolled Delirious up as Delirious attempted the Chemical Imbalance II on Danielson.

Please give the belt to Jacobs. Davey needs to be taught a lesson.

ROH: Sixth Year Anniversary Celebration; Night 1 (February 18th; Philadelphia, PA)
-Before the show Jimmy Jacobs along with BJ Whitmer cut a promo. Jacobs said that the ROH World Title was a stepping stone. A stone to his Ultimate Goal, he said the power that the ROH World Title would allow him to achieve his goal here in Ring of Honor. He also claimed Whitmer would defeat Nigel McGuinness tonight, before saying if Nigel interferes in his business again Jimmy Jacobs & BJ Whitmer will take him, out of action permanently.
Jigsaw & Mike Quackenbush vs. The YRR Really solid opener here, Jigsaw, Quackenbush, Jason Blade & Kenny King all gelled well together and it made for a very good match. Blade & King worked over Jigsaw for most of the match, the crowd exploded when Quackenbush got the tag. He ran wild and hit several signature manoeuvres and came close to victory with the B.T.S but both members of the YRR refused to stay down. They came close to victory when King connected with some vicious double knees in the corner on Jigsaw but this time Quack made the save for his team. Eventually Quack and Jig connected with the Leap of Faith/ Swanton combination for the duke.
SHIMMER Attraction Match: Amazing Kong vs. Alexa Thatcher Kong destroyed Thatcher here, Alexa tired to make a comeback on several occasions but Kong was just do much for her. She connected with the Spinning Backfist and Sit out Powerbomb for victory.
BJ Whitmer vs. Nigel McGuinness Rematch from the previous show, both men worked harder and they were rewarded well with a very good match here. Lots of hard hitting exchanges and a hot finish that saw Whitmer connect with a big running boot that sent McGuinness to the ropes. McGuinness came back looking for the Rebound Lariat but BJ Whitmer caught him attempting to hit the Wrist Clutch Exploder. Nigel spun his way out of it and connected with the Lariat for the win.
-After the match as Nigel celebrated his victory Whitmer attacked once more. He put the boots to Whitmer in the corner before looking for a table. He set it up at ringside before hoisting Nigel up to the top rope, he would attempt the Exploder to the floor but Nigel put the blocker on. He would climb down from the ropes before taking hold of Whitmer hitting the Tower of London from the ropes through the table.
King’s of Wrestling w/ Larry Sweeney vs. Matt Cross & Erik Stevens Glorified squash, Cross & Stevens had some nice offence but everyone knew who was taking victory here. And eventually Claudio & Hero did that with the KRS-1 on Matt Cross.
--Intermission--
-Larry Sweeney along with The King’s of Wrestling cut a promo about their victory over Matt Cross & Erik Stevens. Sweeney claimed K.O.W were now in the fore running for the ROH World Tag Team titles. Claudio & Hero mocked The BLKOUT & El Generico & Kevin Steen as they left camera shot.
--End Intermission--
FIP World Title: Austin Aries vs. Hallowicked Really fun stuff here, Hallowicked looked good, Aries looked good and the match was good to match. Aries gave Hallowicked enough offence to make him look strong whilst still appearing to be out of Hallowicked’s league. Aries has a star quality about him and it showed here, which works well for his storyline/gimmick here. Hallowicked’s best chance of victory came after the Go 2 Sleepy Hollow however Aries kicked out of that and would later connect with a Brainbuster for the win.
KENTA def. Tyler Black To say this was a career defining match for Black would be an understatement. Black put on a hell of a performance and these two pulled out a near five star classic. KENTA used his brutal strikes to try and wear down Black, but Black refused to stay down and continually mounted a comeback. Eventually his unconventional offence would come into play eventually hitting KENTA with the Small Package Driver. That was thought to be it but KENTA somehow kicked out. Black would show his heart once more as he mustered the strength to kick out of not only KENTA’s Flacon Arrow but also Tiger Suplex. Black would manage to gain the advantage once more before heading up top, KENTA soon came charging hitting a Busaiku knee kick to Black who was perched precariously on the top. KENTA would then drag Black from the top rope placing him on his shoulders before hitting the Go 2 Sleep. Said to be KENTA’s best match ever in ROH, as well as Tyler Black’s.
Brent Albright def. Naomichi Marufuji The fans were completely pumped up for this match and they were not disappointed. Marufuji matches his speed, agility and technical ability against Albright’s sheer size and power. He sold extremely well for Albright making him look like a beast. Naomichi Marufuji was forced to use roll ups trying to catch the big man by surprise, Albright would kick out of them including a Perfect inside Cradle. Moments later Marufuji would hit a huge Superkick followed by the Shiranui for an agonising two count. Later Marufuji would attempt the move again however Albright managed to stay on his feet. Marufuji would charge at Brent only for Albright to duck, go behind and nail the Half Nelson Suplex. Marufuji kicked out of that however moments later Albright locked in the Crowbar for the victory.
ROH World Title Match: Davey Richards © def. Jimmy Jacobs The fans already really knew the outcome of this match as Richards is on a collision course to his clash with Delirious tomorrow night. However these two told a really good story and presented doubt about who would win. Jacobs sold well for Richards and made him look strong; Davey also gave Jacobs a lot of offense and made him look like a viable contender to the belt. Jacobs came close to victory with the Spear as well as the Guillotine Choke but Davey managed to escape both predicaments. Richards went onto hit the D.R Driver for the win.

Albright/Marafuji was amazing, and Albright winning it makes it even more so. I was sad you jobbed Stevens and Cross so crappily, not much offense at all? Glad Richards and Aries both retaining.
