You never know, but I would say false. If he comes back he will fight for the title first. And I still think he wants Fedor.

I'm still in shock.
I really don't think this is the best fight for Randy. How do you outwrestle a grizzly bear that's a GREAT wrestler?

Holy shit. I'm shocked.
Completely shocked. Couture ftw.
Always been my favorite, and I think he's going to come in with the perfect gameplan as usual and pummel Brock.

In an official conference call today, UFC President Dana White announced that the 45-year-old Hall of Fame inductee Couture had agreed to an out-of-court new multi-fight contract. And, as speculated, will return against Brock Lesnar in the main event at UFC 91 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (not Portland, Ore.), in a five round fight for the heavyweight championship of the world.
The winner of the bout will become the heavyweight champion of the world and fight the winner of the fight between UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira and Frank Mir to unite the title sometime after their bout on December 27."
Dana White has also said they will do everything they can to make the Fedor fight happen in 2009.
"Under the new agreement, the UFC will also attempt to lock down a bout between Couture and No. 1 ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (Pictures) in 2009. The highly anticipated bout has been heralded as the fight of the decade.
We’re gonna do everything we can to make that fight happen,” said White. “Emelianenko’s under another contract right now to another promotion and if we can work it out with the other promotion we will, but we’re not going to screw around with another contract.”
It is believed Emelianenko recently signed an exclusive U.S. contract with the rival promotion Affliction Entertainment. It is not known how many fights Emelianenko has committed to. White said he would not be open to a co-promotion effort with the rival organization.
“I think a lot of compromises were made on both sides,” said Couture, “but we’re both ready to try and move forward. We’ve cleared the air and we’re both in different places than we were a year ago. Sitting last year in legal fights was not something I’ve enjoyed.”"

Well I called it & so many here called BS.
I'm saying Randy takes Lesnar myself, he's too experienced & always comes in with a great game plan. Then in 2009 the Heavyweight title will be unified with the winner of the Interim Title match between Nog & Mir (Which has just lost a lot of appeal.) I'm seeing Couture vs. Nog with Brock/ Mir 2 as co-main event.
Dana also touched on Fedor, wants him in the Octagon facing couture, feels Affliction will be gone by early 2009 & then he'll pick up Fedor's contract. I so hope this happens as suddenly the Heavyweight division is looking solid again.
The person I feel sorry for is Werdum, a quality heavyweight & due to lack of name value he'll be left out in the cold.

Man, I am stunned!! It's awesome that Couture is back with UFC and will be taking on Brock Lesnar, but I think this could be a bad fight for Randy. I don't believe he's ever fought anyone with the size and wrestling ability of Brock Lesnar.
I don't know if Randy will be able to get Brock down and if he does, he won't hold him down. Brock is way too big and way too strong.
If Brock does what he did in his fight with Herring, I believe we'll have a new UFC Heavyweight champ.
No question about it, I am pumped for this fight. When is UFC #91?? December?? January??

This is great news, it's good to see Couture back in the UFC and I'm excited that his first match back is against Brock Lesnar. I'm a big fan of both but I'm going to be pulling for Lesnar in this one, either way it should be a great fight.
