Or I'm thinking about just using my MOC's as customs. Bad idea?

Has there been any reason why these have gone up so much in price? I am actually considering selling mine and cashing in as I really do not have a big connection to these. Plus if the line does very come back it is not like they will be readily available in the UK anyway! Not really, no. It's the secondary market. One person could nudge it higher, then others will see that to compare when they go to list theirs, to get the high end for their own figure. Then it quickly becomes the trend price, or new value in THEIR eyes. It becomes the true value only if people pay those absurb costs. My opinion is a combination of two things: the popularity of this line coupled with the premature death of it. The second reason is the current economic state. Job losses, impending hikes in cost for consumers, along with the plummeting of the dollar. This really started not long after this COVID stuff. I'm glad I grabbed 8 Ortons for $10 each w combined shipping back in January. But its becoming very difficult continuing my customs with these. Check out mailaway Hulk. It's now between $1000-2400. Series 8 Undertaker w cloak? $300. Its nuts, and I wouldn't pay it. Even if you search for broken Hasbros...I've seen crap like a one-armed Andre listed as $29.99.... lol I'm thinking about customizing the old Kenner Starting Lineup figures.

One month ago, Retro Randy Orton could be regularly found on Ebay for $10-15. This is the crap I'm talking about. It's like these figures get "Harley'd" overnight.. ![](https://i.imgur.com/XDVIcVn.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Tt22oBH.jpg)

This series killed the line without question. Nobody asked for Rollins and Ambrose. I understand putting Goldberg in, but why not a WCW version? Series 3 rotted worse than Tito, and it's not even close. Series 4 (or 5, I don't remember), minus Flair, also stayed on pegs for a while. Mattel with the extra F U by adding Kevin Owens again. Mind boggling. Could they not have just had a Warrior or Undertaker repaint instead? Maybe even a 2nd color for Flair? I could go on all day about the horrific choices made in the retro line. The NWO Macho Man that was followed up by NO OTHER NWO FIGURES still makes you wonder who thought this was a good idea. While the Goldberg was cool, what made it questionable as a purchase was the jumper feature. Like why not give him the John Cena action or Steve Austin mold to do the Jack Hammer with that clothesline arm. For Sting I could give it a pass because of the Stinger Splash, and I GUESS you could get away with calling it "The Spear" but I don't know, that really bugged me. I think it bothers you for the same reason it bugs me. Goldberg is a hoss. He needed a "power body." When Retro Goldberg is the exact same size as the Daniel Bryan Retro, then it doesnt sit well. That, and the old toothless yelling dementia man headscan.

Now that Hogan Figs are back, im guessing alot of us (not all) would love one in our retro collection. So what would your dream (realistic) series 11 and 12 look like? Mine.... S11 Hogan Circa 1991 The Fiend Drew McIntyre Undertaker Circa 1998 S12 Hollywood Hogan Bret Hart Circa 1994 King Corbin Edge Current look If the line hung on for another two years, we'd have that Edge. If I'm not mistaken, they used to reveil 2-3 series at least 6 months ahead of time. I honestly wanted ANYTHING with a "big man" body, even for customs. I wish I had an actual Big Show in Retro form.

Has a toy line ever been killed at the height of its enthusiasm like the Retros?
The original MOTU, Playmates TMNT, and even Hasbro WWF were all on their way down from their peaks.

Sooo... what is driving these CRAZY prices on eBay? The ring is going for $100+,Flair and JYD are goin gift over 100 mint... how? Why? I just don’t get it. Should I go buy the full set of series 3 at target for a rainy day? (Completely kidding) And it happened overnight. A month ago, green Savage was $15, now you'll see it for $75. The best thing we could ever do is not pay these prices. I'm not. I'll do customs of Starting Lineup figures.

Read up on this, and I guess she had an audition and Vince loved her. I'm totally surprised to find out she worked at WWF for a few months, too. Pedicino recently passed away, RIP.

I'm watching May 1993 WWF shows on YouTube and I have absolutely no recollection of this announcer. I was watching the product regularly during this era. Anyone remember future Hall of Famer Boni Blackstone??? ![](https://i.imgur.com/iHPxevP.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/plBe5p7.jpg)

Damn can you imagine if they went with Taker as his father? Geeze. It was the Attitude Era though so it wouldn't of surprised me. I can see people saying'' I thought Andre was his father??!!'' lol And we havent even touched the goodness of "Uncle Kane."

So, I'm trying to think back with the best of my recollection. The following are the figures that I saw the most in stores here in the Chicago SW burbs..
- Jake "The Snake" Roberts - Ax - Smash - Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake #1 - "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase #1 - "Macho King" Randy Savage - "Rowdy" Roddy Piper - Hulk Hogan #2 (bearhug) - Ultimate Warrior #2 - Bushwhackers - Rockers - Koko B Ware - Hulk Hogan #3 - Bret "Hitman" Hart #1 - Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat - The Undertaker #1 - Hulk Hogan #4 - Sid Justice - Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart - Virgil - "Macho Man" Randy Savage #4 - The Mountie - Kamala - El Matador - Papa Shango - Tatanka - Razor Ramon #1 - "Narcissist" Lex Luger - Mr. Perfect #2 - Doink - Scott Steiner - Bushwhackers #2 - Fatu - Samu
So, I followed the figure checklist, and it looks like after Series 6, I rarely saw anything from Series 7-11, with zero from the green cards. Oddly enough, my mom found Series 11 Yokozuna, along with black and silver HBK and got them for Christmas 1995. That kind of ended my original collection. Within 2 years, 90% of them had AWFUL nWo Sharpie paint jobs on them, and that was that. I think the last thing I tried doing was scraping off the silver mask and black chest gear to turn Warlord into Stone Cold Steve Austin. I see what these figures are going for now, compared to even a few years ago, and I'm glad I collected them all (aside from mailaway Bret and Taker). And I dont care what happens, I'll never sell them. I'd die a thousand deaths.

So, it looks like my days of scooping Retros for customs may be over. Seems like the inflation in the secondary market really jacked the prices up on these.
Today I learned that in a matter of 6 weeks, green Macho Man and Diesel went from $15 and $25 figures to $75 and nearly $100.
Stone Cold Steve Austin is north of $30. Flair is hitting $100. It's been fun, but paying prices like that is rough.

Here's one in-process. Used an old beatup Hulk to convert to Mr. America. Have to sand and smooth out rest of mask then paint/decals, and skin tone. ![](https://i.imgur.com/LhFYJoW.jpg)
