Well on my old (long gone) website, I had my 10 loose Popys with a bit of background information given to me by a guy who had knowledge about the line. Apparently the wrestlers were licensed to Popy by a booker named Don O'Neill (spelling might be off). Judging by other Japanese toylines, the production run was most probably short. Thank you for the information. Is anything known about Don O’Neil ? No, couldn't find anything...

That's a nice and expensive collection. Maybe one day I'll spend to own a MOC one, for now my complete loose collection will do.

Quite odd that most MOC Andres I see have a battered card...

Thank you, I agree they’re my favourite wrestling figures of all time. i only need 4 moc to complete the set and I have 5 out of 10 loose so hopefully someday I will complete the set! Didn't you say you have 8 MOC? So you only need 2 more.

Very nice!!!
MOC I can only dream of, but I'm glad to own them loose.
Still the greatest figs IMHO!

I used to have 2 cards with all of them on it. I think I sold one years ago. These: WWF Pins card, I believe there were three sets: pins with logos, pins with logos & heads, figural pins. Three of the figural pins were also a free gift with the videogame WWF Wrestlemania (Ocean): Hogan, Boss Man & L.O.D.

OK, locking this topic since it's straying off from the initial question. New/upcoming figs can be discussed in a seperate topic.

How do you feel about listing spiritual successors like those PN News and Scotty Flamingo figures? You don't add Retro Iron Sheik to a Hasbro checklist since it's not by Hasbro, so new Galoob-like figures shouldn't be in a WCW Galoob Checklist.

I just made the checklist and added it here. Great list. If I may add something: Butch Reed S1 has grey swoosh on shoes, the UK variant has no white stripe, but a red swoosh. Ron Simmons S1 has dark blue pants and white shoes. The UK variant does feature the white stripe you mentioned with Reed. The blue on the tights is also slightly lighter (more a marine blue than a dark blue if this makes any sence). Arn Anderson S1 has two variants: bald spot and hair painted over bald spot. I believe the 2-pack was only available with the painted hair as this was a latter change in production. UK Pillmann is said to have two variants aswell: tiger on both kneepads and tiger on only one. Personally I doubt the variant with only one tiger despite I have one loose. Yet I have never seen this variant MOC. I will go through the list later and see if there is anything else that should be noted. Once again, thanks for the great work! I knew UK Simmons has the white stripe, I have him; weird I wrote it with Reed...

He should have had a longer wwf career. What's the reason he didn't? He was talented. I guess in the beginning WWF had big plans for him, as he was a replacement for Sgt. Slaughter who had left the WWF: this explains why he got 3 regular LJN figures (clean shaved face, stubble and full beard). However, replacing Sgt. Slaughter, that's filling some pretty big shoes. Bare in mind that before this great opportunity, he was a jobber in the WWF known as RT Reynolds. He became Corporal Kirchner, after Vince discovered he'd been a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. The audience didn't like him as much as they liked Sgt. Slaughter, he was a legitimate badass, but also pretty stiff in the ring: that was a fatal mix for his downfall in '80s WWF... Personally I immediately liked him as a kid. Ofcourse his greatest fame would come in Japan as Leatherface/Super Leather, being the toughest hardcore wrestler in 1992.

Quite gutted by the news that Corporal Kirchner has passed away... In my eyes he was really underrated in the WWF. Attachment Deleted

I guess reusing parts to make Skinner wasn't much of an option. Come to think of it: it's Skinner and Virgil from their King of the Ring 1991 match. Oh wow I didn’t know that. That’s when bret beat IRS in the final, is it available to watch? There's a pretty bad cam video on youtube; that match was apparently a houseshow match.

Series 2 Dibiase was pretty obsolete; the green attire was from 1989. It would've been better had we gotten Bad News Brown, Haku or Dino Bravo in series 2. Another Roberts would've been nice, but only with the suplex action (e.g. what Mr. Perfect had). Skinner is actually one of my favorite Hasbros! I think it's great Hasbro released lower to mid-card guys like Virgil, Repo-Man, Koko or Skinner. The sculpt is fantastic, I'm just surprised they spent so much on him, I assume he is all unique tooling and not used again? Others had the stomp mechanism but the leg moulding is different - warrior and Gonzales? Virgil is another interesting one, he didn’t wear shorts often and was more familiar for the long tights I guess reusing parts to make Skinner wasn't much of an option. Come to think of it: it's Skinner and Virgil from their King of the Ring 1991 match.
