Strange times indeed for Randy. Following late 1997 I just didn’t care much for Randy any longer. I wasn’t a fan of Sting playing fourth-wheel to the Hogan-Savage-Nash drama, and his appearances in 1999 were even more bizarre. I had no desire to see him feuding over the world title in 1999 either (as well as Hogan). That time should have been focused on Goldberg, Steiner, Booker, ect…but instead we got Hogan-Savage-Nash as the main feud once again.

Loving this B&R set and looking forward to the heavily rumored BF set next. I grew up with the original four movies so I’ll buy anything Todd puts out from them.

And speaking of Batman Forever… he has to do a set of figures from it seeing Kilmer was in that Ultimate boxed set. So I guess it’ll be Batman, Robin, Two-Face and Riddler. But will there be a BaF (if so who?) or something else? He will definitely get the re-use out of Kilmer. Every other figure in the set has double jobbed...he will too. Dunno who the baf would be...maybe there won't be one Nothing confirmed but one rumor is that the BAF will be Bane from B&R. Would make sense since there’s not really a character worthy of a BAF from BF so this would be a great way to get us Bane.

Coming up through the ring was a cool debut. Costing Mr McMahon the match by throwing Austin through the cage was stupid.
I’d have debuting him during the Rock/Mankind match where he costs Foley the title. Show still gets a cool debut but doesn’t look like an idiot giving Austin the win.
Then in the lead up to WM they could still tease tension between Rock, Big Show, and McMahon, with Vince favoring Show over the Rock as his next corporate champion. Also, don’t have Austin beat Show literally weeks after he debuted. Stupid as hell.
Then after Backlash you have a reason for Rock turning face as McMahon chose to go with Big Show, and you have Austin’s next feud already set to go.

I don't know if it was sabotaged, or they just didn't have chemistry. It's also possible for two people to work well together most of the time, but then have an off night. I have heard that the match hurt Scott's chances of moving into the upper echelon of the company at the time. I think it was JR who said that the office looked at the match and blamed Scott, saying that if he couldn't have a great match with Flair, then could he have one with others. Has Scott or Ric ever talked about the match in shoot interviews? Scott has said for years that Flair purposely sabatoged the match due to Flair’s feud with Jim Herd. Herd was reportedly big on Steiner being one of their top stars alongside Sting and Luger. This match was seen by many as a “prove it” situation for Scott, and a failure due to what we got from him and Flair. It’s why years later Scott would burry Flair in random promos when they weren’t even feuding (‘99/00 timeframe). Flair claimed he never purposely sabatoged the match and it was just a poor outing. Others have commented on it as well. Arn Anderson obviously takes Ric’s side and feels Steiner blaming Flair has to do with Flair being a booker around that time. Others have taken Scott’s side. And some are in the middle. The below link is to Lance Storm’s blog where he has an interesting take on things. www.stormwrestling.com/102814.html

The match that was suppose to make Scott Steiner one of the next top young-stars and put him on the level of Sting and Luger turned out to be a bad and awkward match. I watched this one again recently and it reminded me of how much of a letdown this match was. Steiner not getting to show off his unique moves. Flair cutting him off at the usual baby-face comeback spots. Just a weird one all around that has caused a lot of discussion with fans and those within the business.
Some say it was a lack of chemistry. Some say Ric sabotaged the match to stick it to higher ups who were trying to push him out even back in ‘91. My opinion: probably a mixture of both, but it’s not hard to see why Scott held so much resentment towards Flair for years after this. Their match didn’t follow the typical “heel-Flair” match that had made so many stars look great before Scott.
What’s everyone else’s opinion on this one? Did Flair sabotage the match? Was it just a lack of chemistry? Or was it something else?

Easily my favorite section of WF since becoming a member. Hardly ever any bs and always cool dudes reminiscing about the good old days.

Wouldn’t be shocked if we see him again in the MNW line. I can see them re-releasing his first figure in the red trunks with face-scan updates. They may even make a UE version.

Great figure...I'm glad to have it in my collection. In the minority but I've no interest in a white singlet Steiner. I need 2 more Scott figures... WM9 & 99/2000 era in black shorts. Throw in Final Nitro Scotty in the red biker shorts and I’m good with these as well.

PJ Rick Steiner is out of scale. He’s notably taller than WCW Ultimate Warrior and elite RVD, two guys who are taller than him. I noticed this when organizing my collection. I’m not a huge stickler for some height inaccuracies if it’s not too bad, but it’s noticeable. Scott Steiner, I don’t have the figure, but it has notable issues too. I still believe Mattel should give us the best representations when it comes to big names. I remember them having the Sheamus torso for Hollywood Hogan and not bothering to change it until we made a fuss about it. The problem is that Mattel knows the Steiner’s will sell so they’ll put these lazy versions out first. They have no reason to really ever change the formula until they stop selling (Hogan is one of the biggest names in this industry and it took them years to finally get rid of the Sheamus torso for him). My fear is that if we ever get a UE Scott Steiner than they’ll use that terrible torso they used on Eddie and Kurt. Scott had a unique build and needs a unique sculpt.

Scotty Steiner is one of my top 5 favorites of all time. Been waiting a long time for a modern-day figure of him. Overall it’s ok but not nearly as good as it could be.
1. Too tall. His legs are too long. Scott was not a super-tall dude at all, and looked short even next to HHH who’s listed as 6’4”. I’ve done a few fixups using the Rick Boogs thighs and Lesnar lower-legs and it does help with the height issue. Mattel sadly went the lazy route and gave him legs they already had molded.
2. The chainmail headdress sucks. Sits funny and doesn’t look right.
3. Head is too small. This was done to fit the headdress and neither ended up looking good. His head needs to be about 10-15% larger.

Found the McFarlane Batman & Robin wave at Gamestop yesterday. Great set and one of McFarlanes better overall waves. Sculpts look great and the paint jobs are solid too. Articulation is also a step up from the usual McFarlane offerings. Only negative for me is the lack of paint on Mr. Freeze. Looks way too toyish and should have been given more of a chrome look. He’ll be getting a dark wash at some point.

Haven’t watched the WWE in years but did watch his promo on YouTube this morning. Kinda a bland promo based on what the WWE was hyping up, but a few notes…
1. Anyone expecting him to shoot on AEW were kidding themselves. Like TK has said, they legally cannot speak about this and NDAs were likely signed. Plus, even if he could speak about it, the WWE wouldn’t give him the ok. Punk is likely on a tight leash and the WWE historically don’t acknowledge other companies in most cases. What happened in AEW doesn’t affect the WWE in any way.
2. Seems like he might be hinting at a heel turn. His “I’m home” comment was corny as hell and hypocritical whether he truly means it or not, but when he said “I’m here for money” at the end, sounded like he’ll swerve fans with a heel run.
3. Promo came off weak to me since we’ve seen this promo a few times over the past two years. His first promo in AEW and his return to AEW promo were both more memorable. Thinking he didn’t have much else to say since he got a lot out in both those fairly-recent promos.

Aways loved HH. 1993 is a very underrated show. 1998 had a jam-packed card and just looking at the match listings, you’d think that this was an all time show. Shame it turned out as bad as it did. Goldberg/DDP Hogan/Warrior Bret/Sting Nash/Hall Steiner/Steiner Any of these matches on name alone could have main eventer a PPV during the Monday night wars. Yet someone all of them outside of Goldberg/DDP turned into overbooked messes.I think that is the best way to describe this PPV. While it wasn't as bad as I remembered it, it just didn't do anything great/good. Like you said, anyone of those 5 matches would have been a main event of any PPV they had that year, but to have them all on the same show, it should have made this the best PPV of all-time, but it didn't happen. Overbooked seems to sum it up perfectly; too many outside inferences/run-ins in matches, strange finishes, too many ref bumps, etc. If they just would have let each one wrestle normally, I think it would have been a much better show. Look at the best match on the show, DDP and Goldberg, it was just those two guys wrestling their match, no outside inference, no ref bumps, no convoluted finish, just two guys telling a simple story. If the other top matches did that, then this could have been one of WCW's best PPV's, ever. And, it could have helped WCW halt the downward slide they were in at the time. I’ve always looked at this PPV as the beginning of the end. WCW had already been screwing things up, but the following night was the final time Nitro ever beat Raw in the weekly ratings (and it was mostly due to showing Goldberg/DDP for free). WCW still had stars that fans wanted to tune in for, but this PPV seemed to be the final straw for many. Between the screwy matches and most people not even seeing Goldberg/DDP, the downfall truely began with this show.

Loved Taker’s heel run but the segment where he turned heel dragged out way too long. Seemed to just go on and on and I believe it spanned multiple commercial breaks with McMahon having his pants down the whole time. That whole month following Survivor Series was weird as they were resetting everyone (Austin is a face again, McMahon and Taker as heels, ect…). I was relieved that they turned Austin face again, but it felt they suddenly flipped the script with him, Vince & Taker. Austin’s turn was the strangest. They pushed him as a heel for the past eight months despite fans still wanting to cheer him. Then literally the night after survivor series he comes out and they act like he’s been a face this entire time. Same with Vince just suddenly being a heel again. Atleast they did a segment for Taker’s turn. I gotta throw Kurt in there as well. He was a massive face over the summer, turned heel for one month by joining the Alliance, saves the WWF at survivor series, yet is stil treated as a heel due to McMahon also randomly turning heel again. One of the strangest months in this company’s history.

As long as we get a ‘99/00 Scott Steiner I’ll be happy (UE 2001 Kane would be nice too).
