A video was leaked onto the internet which has now been pulled. Below are some topics shown in the video. The first item related to MLB 09: The Show has just made its way out, and it isn’t the cover athlete announcement. Though from the loading screen it may have been revealed that it is Dustin Pedroia. Footage from an SCEA event earlier today shows the new Yankee stadium in game. Appscout has a report from the event and mentions graphical improvements such as progressive lighting. This being New York City, we naturally picked the Bronx bombers for our sneak preview. Once we fired up the game, we were met with a pleasant surprise–the new Yankee stadium. This being the 2009 baseball season, the virtual Yankees had since moved across the street to the new and improved version of their famous Bronx home. The game will also contain batting practice. Edit: 12/13- Official Release date will be 3/3/09. EDIT: 2/19- sports.espn.go.com/videogames/news/story?id=3775962SCREENSHOTS AND PREVIEW

I want home run derby just to screw around with. They had it on the PS2 version as well as another mode called "King of the Diamond." Hopefully we will see this in the PS3 version. I would like to see the Home Run Derby in the season mode just like the All-Star game is. I've heard 5 different release dates for the game so I don't know which is the real one: April 2nd, 2009 March 24th, 2009 March 22nd, 2009 March 20th, 2009 March 2nd, 2009

Odds are its March 2nd considering 2008 was released on the 3rd. An dHR derby better be in.

A small detail I would like would be for the pitching coach to walk to the mound and the manager to come to the mound only for a pitching change. Having the trainer and manger run out when a player gets injured would be a nice touch as well.

There's day/night transition, as shown in the leaked video.

Ugh...the lack of accessories in "The Show" just ruin the game for me.
There's only ONE model baseball glove, everyone has their finger out.
There's only ONE arm guard and it's HUGE and black.
You CAN'T change the color of your batting gloves, shin guard, wrist bands or forearm bands.
You CAN'T have players wear a batting glove under their Fielding glove like Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada and others do in real life.
Plus I don't like the player models. Everybody has these stubby short looking arms.
MLB 2k9 will have WAY better accessories, and the fielders probably won't TRIPLE CLUTCH before they throw the ball, unlike in "The Show" EVERY YEAR, making double plays IMPOSSIBLE.

I make Double Plays fine, i however don't give a crapabout everyone having one finger out the glove...
The Show had Superior Graphics and Control which is what matters to me, all the nitpicking about Giambi not having his bulge correctly or everyone blinking the same way and any other miniscule detail in 2K i could careless about...

I despise the 2k games. I think their character models are twice as bad as The Show. Plus I'm not a big fan of the pitching mechanics the game uses. I think about 99% of baseball gamers prefer The Show over 2k8, and there is a reason for that.
That being said, I do see some minor accessory problems, but nothing significant enough to rate it anything less than the best baseball game of all time. 2009 The Show will have 700+ new animations and new character models from what i've heard. Plus the create-a-player will be back and anyone who's played in on the ps3 version (and not the ps2) knows how in-depth that thing gets.

If 2k fixes the frame rate problem, it would easily be the better game. At some points of the game, mostly the cut scenes, it appears as if the game is almost going in slow motion. If they find a way to speed the game up in certain places, 2k would be fine.
I don't use the new pitching method with the stick that made it's debut in MLB 2k8. There is an option to use the classic precision pitching style from 2K7 where you are just holding down the button of the pitch you have selected and trying to release it and press it again as it goes back toward the mark...the same exact thing as 'The Show' trying to time the bar with the green line.

MLB 08: The Show- 8.7 MLB 2k8- 7.2
MLB 07: The Show- 7.7 MLB 2k7- 7.4
MLB 06: The Show- 8.0 MLB 2k6- 7.3
-ign
The chances of 2k ever making a baseball game better than the SCEA guys are pretty slim. Most people on 2k9 forums say they hate the 2k games but they have to get them because they don't have a PS3, which means no Show.

I wish I could get Show as well but I only have a 360. I didn't like 2K8 at all but I will get this years cause I need my MLB game fix.
