I hate the "I'm flattered by gay men checking me out" nonsense. As a straight person, I'm not flattered by gay men thinking I'm attractive. I don't hate them for it if they DO find me attractive, but I'm just not flattered by it. I don't feel comfortable with them looking at me while I'm naked. Sorry, I just don't. And yes, I have numerous gay friends. Well, I should say ONE "gay" friend and numerous "bisexual" friends. Maybe there are some guys who are flattered by it, but I have a feeling that the vast majority of men do not want to be showering with gay men, just the same as women don't want to be showering with men. We're guys. We're creeps. There's no shame in it (OK maybe there's some shame). But the best solution is to have individual showers for EVERYONE. exactly. woman should be forced shower nude in front of me and take it as FLATTERY when I stare and gawk at them.

Do you think that is what happens with gays and lesbians? That they will stare and gawk at their straight colleagues once they can be open?

and you think they wont? why?
actually, yes its very possible. that has happened to me with multiple gay men. they also seem to like to tease straight men for fun because they know it makes them uncomfortable. not saying that will happen for sure, but come on now.
maybe in your mind, that would never happen. but in the real world, it does. and even if they arent making it obvious they are staring, im sure some will. its just natural to look at people you may be sexually attracted to if they are naked.
youre whole point of view seems to focus on believeing gay men wont stare at the naked men in front of them. the odds are, youre wrong. the mere possibility of it happening is enough to merit smething done.

They are all there to defend the country, to complete a mission, not find love or lust. That goes for men, women, straight, gay. I don't see why people can't be grown up. "Oh, I get to see someone without clothes on. hahahahaha, just what I wanted."

My favorite part of this was when Krayzie said open gays showering with straight guys is wrong, then accused Slappy of throwing around terms. I just wanted to point out a couple of my favorite comments from the gawker video. how would you have preffered that I reffer to them as? I call woman, woman ... because they are woman. I call men who are openly gay, openly gay ... because they are openly gay. its not "throwing around a term" Not that stupid, saying straight men showering with openly gay men is wrong. How is that not throwing around a term?

I've been in locker room/shower, straight guys do a lot of craptalking about various things, you don't have to be gay to do something.

"Oh, I get to see someone without clothes on. hahahahaha, just what I wanted." First of all, most people in the military are not actively fighting in war. They are in secure bases throughout the country. Secondly, even if they are at war, men are incapable of not thinking about sex. Gay or straight. We're all guilty of it. Third, again, I'm not saying that people are signing up for the military with the sole purpose of looking at men (or women) naked. That's an absurd assumption that only a complete idiot would make. What I'm saying is that if it's in front of you and you're attracted, you're going to look. You may even stare or gawk. And I don't mean YOU personally. I mean everyone. Again, straight or gay - gay or straight - it makes no difference.

I guess straight men dont apply to the same respect.

um, you DO realize we're talking about the shower room, right? nothing else? no one is saying gay men should be isolated from straight men entirely.
I hope for youre sake you understand this.

And no one said all gay people do that. but it DOES happen. maybe youre sheltered? Come visit west hollywood, CA. and its not in a malicious way. they are joking. but its uncomfortable for alot of people.

At the VA hospitals, should we have a straight wing and a gay wing? What's the situation?> Staying in the same room. Is it that far fetched to think that a straight guy would be uncomfortable sleeping in the same room with a gay guy? That goes for Krayzie too. Should gays have their own sleeping quarters? If not, why not? If it is ok to segregate people because they make someone uncomfortable while showering, why then would it be ok to make those same people uncomfortable while sleeping?

If there's somewhere separate that they can change / shower, then I see no problem with them sleeping in the same room.

I doubt that will stop A from being attracted to B, so why should A be allowed to sleep in the same room with their "crush" B.
