I wanted to resurrect this diary, as I feel there is more of a story that can be told. When I left this diary, Rude won the title, but now the last match was a DQ to set up Randy to feud with Mr. Perfect who now deserves the top heel spot. So here is the continuation of the Reign of the Macho Man.
Current Champions:
World Heavyweight Champion: Randy "Macho Man" Savage (since Wrestlemania 4)
Intercontinental Champion: VACATED after Randy won the IC title at Wrestlemania
Tag Team Champions: The Hart Foundation (since Wrestlemania 6)
Women's Champion: Queen Sherri (since SNME July 89)

Official Statement from WWF President Jack Tunney: Since the WWF Intercontinental Championship has been vacant since Wrestlemania VI and after long discussions with WWF Officials, I have decided to hold a 20-Man Battle Royal on Saturday Night's Main Event on July 28th. The winner of the Battle Royal will be awarded the WWF Intercontinental Championship. The participants will be announced in the coming weeks. Thank you.
Gorilla: What a night that'll be when we'll finally have an undisputed Intercontinental Champion.

You could bring it all Bobby Heenan ya it doesn't matter to the Macho Man bring um all on I'll beat um!

A 20 Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal to crown a new WWF Intercontinental Champion I think is actually a great idea but it begs the question of who the 20 superstars will be
I mean I can see Perfect being in this Battle Royal as well as Piper, Rude, Jake the Snake Roberts, both members of The Hart Foundation that being Bret "The Hitman" Hart and The Anvil Jim Neidhart, both members of The Rockers Jannetty and Michaels, Tito Santana, Rick the Model Martel, The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase just to name a few

Heenan aligning himself with Perfect I mean it was only a matter of time but at the same time Macho has been WWF Champion ever since WrestleMania 4 but how long before he loses the title? I think it is only a matter of when not if but when

WWF Special Report focuses on Hulk Hogan's injury. Tugboat shoots a promo on Hogan's injury and wants to take down the Earthquake himself for Hogan. In this timeline footage is shown with Hulk Hogan on a hospital bed (shot weeks ago) recovering from the so-called injury. Mr. Perfect (w/Genius & Heenan) def. Koko B. Ware via pinfall. Perfect still wants a shot at the WWF title in post-match promo. Randy "Macho Man" Savage (c) (w/Elizabeth) def. Warlord via pinfall to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. Warlord had the early advantage, overpowering the champ, but Savage would turn it all around and end the match with his elbow drop for the win. WWF at Madison Square Garden June 25th, 1990 (Live on MSG Network) Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Lord Alfred HayesNote: Strangely there was no MSG show in May-August. In this timeline the tradition continues since Randy is champ. Warrior was drawing poorly in real life as the only big babyface at the time (Randy was heel, Hogan was "injured") if you look at the attendance numbers. So MSG here continues. Bad News Brown def. Nikolai Volkoff via pinfall. Brown brought in a caged "200lb" sewer rat from Harlem. Earthquake (w/Hart) def. Jim Powers via pinfall. A quick squash match. The Rockers def. The Hart Foundation (c) via Countout. Hart Foundation retains the WWF World Tag Titles. Randy "Macho Man" Savage (c) (w/Elizabeth) def. Rick Rude (w/Heenan) via pinfall to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.
Rude went for the Rude's Awakening, but Randy counters with a roll up and holding on the tights for the win. Heenan is frustrated and complains to the ref as Randy leaves quickly with Elizabeth. The feud has been very successful on the house show circuit since Wrestlemania.

WWF Prime Time Wrestling July 9th, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan Gorilla: Folks Hulk Hogan will be making an announcement next week about his condition and whether or not he will be retiring from the WWF. Heenan: He needs to go he's done all that he's needed to in the WWF. Gorilla: O give me a break. Heenan: Let others shine for a change, like Mr. Perfect who deserves a shot at the WWF title and I'm really disappointed Gorilla. What kind of champion does the Macho Man think of himself if he doesn't accept a title shot? Gorilla: Well last I checked he's not the no.1 contender. Heenan: Now you give me a break, watch this match up just watch closely at how perfect Mr. Perfect is! Mr. Perfect (w/Genius) def. Hercules via pinfallHeenan: What did I tell you? He beat up that good for nothing Hercules and you're telling me a guy whose undefeated and has beaten some of the top Superstars doesn't deserve a shot? WWF Prime Time Wrestling July 16th, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan
WWF Superstars clip of Hogan's interview in the ring with Vince McMahon. Vince: Hulk Hogan the first thing everyone wants to know is how is your condition? Hogan: Never been better. You know it's great to see all these fans out here, but first I want to thank every single person who wrote a letter to me and I promise to write back to all of you as the letters continue to come to me. Vince: We are all excited to see you here and the world wants to know will you ever come back and compete here in the World Wrestling Federation? Hogan: You know something Vince McMahon, it has been a tough couple of months as I saw all those tears from my little Hulkamaniacs, as I lay there in the hospital all I kept thinking about was getting my hands on that nasty Earthquake.. Vince: O no doubt about that! Hogan: The truth is when I lay there in my hospital bed in recovery, as I had the best doctor's checking up on me, I found that there was one man who wanted to help me out, one man who wants to be on the side of Hulkamania brother, and that man is Tugboat! (fans cheer)... Vince: But the question we want to know is will you return? Hogan:O I'll return brother once I'm fully healed, but at the same time, I'll be beside my main man Tugboat at Saturday Night's Main Event to face off against Earthquake. Just hear all the Hulkamaniacs out here (fans cheer) they all know that time and time again someone tries to bring us down brother, but we pick ourselves back up again! Vince: Hopefully you'll heal soon! Hogan: I'm not done here Vince McMahon because, at SummerSlam, I'm looking to find a way to get my hands on that nasty Earthquake. Hopefully, I'll be cleared to compete, but if not I just know I'll be there brother! So what you're going to do Earthquake when Hulkamania pulls a stretcher on you (tears his shirt and poses). The Genius def. Mike Shelton via pinfallRandy Savage promo on the Genius: Ooo ya the Genius has got it comin' ya so Saturday Night's Main Event you want to take on the champ ya but I'm not worried about you ya because I've heard you got you're man Mr. Perfect in your corner ya, well Elizabeth's in my corner and it won't matter because Macho Madness reigns supreme oooo ya can you dig that? The Hart Foundation (c) def. jobbers via pinfall to retain the WWF Tag Team Titles. Saturday Night's Main Event July 28th, 1990 (on NBC) Omaha Civic Auditorium, Nebraska Hosts: Vince McMahon and Jesse "the Body" Ventura20-Man Battle Royal for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. All competitors are in the ring at once. Participants: Big Boss Man, Warlord, Hillbilly Jim, Ted Dibiase, Jake Roberts, Barbarian, Koko B. Ware, Ron Garvin, Haku, Bad News Brown, Virgil, Akeem, Nikolai Volkoff, Boris Zhukov, Jim Duggan, Hercules, Jimmy Snuka, Tito Santana, Dusty Rhodes, and Texas Tornado.Final Four: Bad News Brown, Tito Santana, Jake Roberts and Dusty Rhodes Brown tosses Tito to the outside, Roberts and Dusty double team Brown thereafter. Dusty hits the ropes to clothesline Brown, but Brown lifts him over his head. Roberts lands punches, but Brown manages to hit a ghettoblaster. Brown tosses Jake over fo the win. Winner: Bad News Brown and NEW WWF Intercontinental ChampionPresident Jack Tunney gets in the ring with the IC title belt, but Brown grabs it from him quickly and pushes him aside. He holds the belt up high, till Jake grabs Damien and brings him out for Brown to run out in fear to the back. ___________________________________________ Randy "Macho Man" Savage (c) (w/Elizabeth) vs. The Genius (w/Mr. Perfect) in a non-title matchIn a rare match between real-life brothers, the Genius makes his way out with Mr. Perfect. Randy gives out a promo saying that the so-called "world's smartest man" is going to need more than calculations to beat him. In the ring the Genius does some "positive" poetry about love between Elizabeth and Randy, which Vince found strange that he would do that. Randy Savage makes his way out to much applause with Miss Elizabeth. Savage gets in the ring and the bell rings. The Genius starts to stretch wasting time as Savage is looking at the crowd like wth? They finally grapple and Savage shoves him to a corner at ease and even flexes his biceps. Genius runs out to get his clipboard as Perfect talks trash to Savage. Jesse says that the Genius is trying to figure out mathematically on how to defeat the Champion. Genius gets back in starts to do somersaults as Randy looks at the crowd laughing. They grapple again and it's a headlock on the champ, Randy counters with an irish whip and lands a back elbow. Randy starts to work on the Genius, but the Genius leaves the ring to regroup with Perfect. Randy talks trash and gets frustrated. Genius once again grabs his clipboard to work out a new calculation till Randy does a double axe handle from the top rope on top of both Perfect and Genius! Randy grabs the clipboard and smashes it over Genius' head! Randy tosses Genius back in and brawls with the Genius. Late in the match the Genius manages to land a high kick to Randy who falls to the outside. The referee doesn't look (Genius keeps him distracted) as Mr. Perfect grabs the WWF Championship belt and smashes it over Randy's head near the apron. He continues the assault with the belt another FIVE times! He tosses Randy back in as Genius lands a swanton bomb (which was one of his finishers) on the champ for the 1..2..3! Winner: The Genius via pinfall. Randy retains WWF Championship due to it being a non-title match.
A massive upset as Vince goes nuts on commentary and even Jesse can't believe it. Mr. Perfect hands over the WWF Championship belt to the Genius as they both hold it up high despite it being a non-title match. Randy tries to get up as Elizabeth tries to help him up. Randy is bleeding and he finally starts to move around the ring as Genius and Mr. Perfect run to the back with the WWF Championship belt! ___________________________________________ Tugboat (w/Hulk Hogan) vs. Earthquake (w/Hart) in Singles competitionEarthquake is out, thereafter Tugboat. Hulk gets his own entrance to a pop as he's in the corner of Tugboat. Earthquake does a number on Tugboat till he manages to get in the earthquake splash for the pin and win. Winner: Earthquake via pinfall___________________________________________ In the back Heenan, Perfect and Genius are celebrating at the victory. Mean Gene says he can't believe what transpired here and Perfect gets a hammer from Heenan and starts to SMASH the WWF Championship belt into pieces! Gene: What in the world...what is this! I've never seen anything like this that is the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship belt you clearly stole! Perfect: That's right and I would do it again and again till Randy gives me my title shot. How long will you wait Macho Man? You're a paper champion and this belt (picks it up and displays it) is trash because when they make a new belt, they'll make it a Perfect belt that will go around the perfect waist. (they all laugh it out as Gene holds the belt) ___________________________________________ As Earthquake is celebrating his win Hogan attends to Tugboat in the ring. Jimmy Hart says to squash Hogan again. Hogan looks scared as Earthquake headbutts Hogan. He tosses Hogan to the corner and hits an avalanche! Fans are in shock as Earthquake bodyslams Hogan in the middle of the ring. He is about to re-injure Hogan till WWF Officials finally rush out to stop Earthquake. Earthquake pushes them aside as he wants room to kill Hulkamania. Suddenly the Ultimate Warrior runs out to a massive pop! The Warrior jumps in and clotheslines the Earthquake as he falls out. Warrior helps Hulk who is selling the attack well. ___________________________________________ Mean Gene with Randy Savage Gene: In my hands is the WWF Championship belt, the World title belt that has been disgraced and humiliated after Mr. Perfect smashed this belt to pieces and with me at this time is Randy Savage who lost to the Genius in the biggest upset in WWF history. Savage: (talks normally) Upset...O I'm upset Gene, but I dont know if I could show it anymore ya...I think the fans know what this belt represents ya all the greatest champions that ever held that belt, ya Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund ya all the greats who held this title ya (gets angry) who do you think you are Mr. Perfect? Trying to kill Macho Madness by destroying the belt ya trying to humiliate me with an upset like that ya you won't kill the Madness you won't kill me you won't break me! You wan't a shot you got it! SummerSlam it's you and me chump ya! Oooo ya!!!
