At this point, I'm convinced AEW is doomed to fail. It's WCW v.2 (or TNA v.3)
1) Same announcers. Tony Schiavone?!? 2) Same network. Turner. 3) Same booking style (let the inmates book) and technically managed by a Rhodes. 4) Show is called Dynamite. Nitro is the key ingredient in Dynamite. 5) Focused on not presenting itself as the alternative to WWE but as the competition to a war with WWE. A war that probably will go unacknowledged by WWE for a long time (if it ever gets acknowledged at all). 6) Relying on big names for its televised debut WWE. (Rhodes, Jericho, Moxley) (hogan was WCW champion for its cable debut. Jericho is champion for its cable debut.) 7) Funded by a company/person who has no knowledge of wrestling business but likes professional wrestling.
Not wishing ill will, but I find it laughable that those who always hated WCW and TNA are basically going cuckoo for coco-puffs for what is essentially a second attempt at both.

AEW is gonna have trouble this first week. 3 title matches, plus limited commercials? Now the real story is a month from now, cause NXT cant do this every week

Things like this is why I already have a very meh feeling on AEW... That sentiment would essentially apply to 99.9% of WWE's roster...

The first AEW PPV was great but the last one was mediocre at best. NXT PPVs blow it out of the water and the worst NXT event was still better than it.

I don’t want any company to fail but I honestly don’t care about AEW mainly because of them constantly poking WWE and acting like real competition.
I couldn’t tell you who’s who after old man Jericho, Moxley, Rhodes and Omega. And the only reason Omega has ever stuck out in my mind is because he looks like DDP and RVD had a child.

I don't understand why any wrestling fan would want AEW to fail.
Even if you're a die-hard WWE fan and hate everything about AEW, competition will only bring out the best in everyone. WWE's spot on top is not going anywhere. Not any time soon anyways but as somebody who has become less and less invested in what WWE has been putting out over the years, I'm all for anything that lights a fire under their ass. That's not a knock on anybody that loves everything about the product WWE currently puts out either. Strong competition will only make it better, not worse.

Still up in the air lol.
On one hand, the only time I'll be able to watch NXT is during the live broadcast timeslot, opposed to AEW that will offer repeats, at least for this week. But any dip in viewership could lead to Vince dictating changes to its operation because "what worked on the Network can't work on cable".
On the other, I believe AEW will desperately need numbers starting out to prove their viability, as well as stave off those so looking forward to getting their LOLZ in.

thing is its not AEW vs NXT, its AEW vs WWE....the WWE has a network, 3 shows and worldwide brand recognition. AEW is selling to die hards from the attitude era who think the WWE sucks and they just want TV-14 back.
im sure they are going to do OK but they arent a threat to the WWE in the slightest

AEW interviewing Dave Meltzer like he has any legitimate credibility or business discussing what makes a wrestling company work was basically all I needed to pick NxT over AEW.

AEW interviewing Dave Meltzer like he has any legitimate credibility or business discussing what makes a wrestling company work was basically all I needed to pick NxT over AEW. I've seen a few pictures of Metlzer, but I never expected what I saw last night. A too tight t-shirt and he clearly shaved the hair on his arms. He was probably doing curls between takes. He's the Carrot Top of wrestling journalists. That being said, the AEW special last night did 631,000 viewers. Not bad.
