Well my target finally got new figures and it's like 2 or 3 cases of the network spotlight series.
So I just gave up and waited for the prices to go down to a reasonable level on ebay.
Target sucks so bad and finding figures. Your only hope is if you have like 5 or more in a surrounding area. Then you might get lucky at one, if you get there at the right time.

Explains why I’ve never found one single chase at Target: not enough Targets and not enough time.

It is very annoying. I wish it would stop too and made a long detailed post over on the patreon for the MWFP. It is killing the hobby

They’re not going to stop.
Mattel is pretty much employeed by Walmart & Target, so they’re going to catcher to them since TRU is gone.

Stores aren’t getting these new figures, because the old ones are still sitting on shelves and in the distro centers.
With more and more internet sales, the less likely the standard series is to move as quickly.
It’s not Mattel’s doing or the stores. Collectors are screwing themselves out of finding these

just accept buying em for higher prices on ebay from now on. the time/energy/gas you end up wasting to keep checking the stores you coulda bought 2 on ebay. time is money. miles on your car is money. imagine adding up the hours you spend going to these stores. as a legend/flashback only collector i really despise this whole idea and lack of availability. esp in the day and age of the internet. the world wants to force digital on us at every turn, even closing brick n morter big wig toy seller TRUS, but then wants to now in the year 2020 force back into brick n morter type shopping. i understand we want to get em in the store so they buy other crap, well then how about at least having enough figs availibe to buy some then. AGAIN, someone, somewhere just always has to make things difficult! its a known fact. you have a room full of people give em all same task, some will make it so much more difficult than others would/could.

Stores don’t order direct. So someone that works somewhere else is ordering and just sending stuff to stores? That’s why distribution is garbage. They have no way of knowing who has what or what’s sold because it’s all the same number. None of this makes sense its almost like they DONT want people to have the figs. i mean WTF! who thought of this 1980's ass backwards idea! life is already frustrating enough, lets frustrate our consmuer collector base even more. this is only good for lucky people, employees who keep and sell em and scaplers who buy the toys. there are 3 guys/1 lady in my town who wait at walmart/target every morning and go in and grab best figs/hotwheels and what not. how'd you like that kinda competition for figs? and funny, ive heard them complain the employees must be getting some of it, they are 1st in store everday! has to be employees then!

I get it kinda, but for this specific thing Mattel should let Ringside order these too. It’s more like Target and Walmart have store specific broom handles and they’re not getting the cases with store specific broom handles, they’re getting the normal handle cases and too many. Maybe they get one case of their store specific handle and there’s one in each box. It’s how my store ended up with over 100 DM Ultimate Maniac Warriors and nothing else. Mattel doesn’t care, but I would think stores would when they have to sell them for $3... We all know the difference between a case assortment of action figures and a variety pack of generic product x, y, or z. Nevertheless, that doesn’t change the fact that, even with this information in hand, Wal-Mart doesn’t care, nor do they have any reason to. The type of inventory management needed to cater to the loudest demographic here is of no interest to Wal-Mart, because the collector’s market and their business model are so far removed from one another that to undertake such an endeavor would likely warrant the creation of a new division that would generate such a small revenue stream that it’s hardly worth typing the words to suggest. Wal-Mart didn’t go to Mattel and say “give us Sherri”. Target didn’t go to a retail draft board and pick Pete Dunne with the first round selection. The retailers wanted to drive traffic into their stores, specifically. Mattel needed a guaranteed buyer for their core product line that wouldn’t dilute its business by buying up lines offered solely to them. This was the compromise. From a business standpoint, it’s largely been successful. There are still kinks to work out in the execution, namely in the aforementioned sort of artificial alternating of series availabilities, but given the interest and demand generated, it’s probably a safe bet to assume that these exclusives aren’t going anywhere soon. getting em in store to buy other stuff is one thing, making collectors have to try 9 targets to find a fig is another!

I’ve been holding on to my slim Jim macho man for a trade worth it and I think anvil exclusive is when I’ll bite. I’m going to wait a bit and see if I can fin it myself when 74 hits shelves, but if I can’t find it myself I’ll end up trading away my macho.

lol at the debate. we collect figs. we would spend money and buy the figs if we could. we cant always. so who's the prob, the collectors or stores/mattel? If stores didn’t order the figures anymore, the line would be dead. So Mattel has to make their product attractive to retailers. That’s the reality of the business. And whoever is in charge of boys toys at Target has no reason to care about people getting all buttimus hurtimus on Wfigs. There is no utopia where Mattel says “screw the retailers, we can just magic all the figures you want into your hands.” Either Walmart and Target keep stocking the line, or it dies.

If store exclusives are the only way of getting us figures like Backlund, Sherri, Gorilla and Blassie, then I'm all for them.

No, what he's saying is that collectors are hurting themselves at retail by buying them months in advance online. Think about how many times we've seen people lament that preorders are't up for a set that's three ahead of what's already at retail.

But if they buy them months in advance online how are they hurting themselves in the stores if they’ve already got those particular figures because they ordered them? Unless I’m missing something, it looks to me like it’s hurting those of us that wait for them to hit store shelves instead of preordering online....why would somebody buy them online & then scour the store shelves to find the very same figures they’ve already got at home?? I don’t understand the logic there if that’s the case

My only gripe is the Target Exclusives honestly. I think my thread title mislead, but it also brought up a nice debate. Target exclusives are terrible because their distribution and restock is horrendous. Wal-Mart exclusives, which are Legends are WAY easier to find than Targets current roster.
I feel as though if they would just put the exclusives 2 per box it wouldn't be so bad. But then again, most Targets only get 1 case per series it feels like. There's only been 1 Collectors chase I really wanted from Target and that was Liv, other than that, I've found every Legend at Wal-Mart, and I'm hoping Anvil doesn't elude me.
I wish that Mattel would chime in, because I know they browse these forums from time to time.
