Why do I have both Stooges, but have never seen a Pete Dunne or Sherri? Why was Backlund so easy to get, even if I didn’t want him? There’s just no rhyme or reason to these. Target by default is gonna get less cases than Walmart and when Walmart does stupid S like get a ton of e64 when that’s Targets set and no one gets a chase. Chases would be fine if someone was making sure they weren’t over ordering the wrong sets for their store and under ordering the ones that the exclusive they paid for is in... At Xmas time WM had like 10 cases of e64 and maybe got one e65. Target got like one(maybe) case of e64 and a ton of Top Talents and e66.... Someone give me a goddamn job in logistics or whatever and I’ll slap stores that can’t figure this stuff out. mattel doesn’t care what set goes where they just ship out the amount of cases the store orders.

I would hope the stores could order specific sets though if they had exclusives in said set. That would be actually stupid if they said we need 3-4 cases of elites and Mattel just sent them whatever was laying around. I would think the problem is whoever is in merchandising or whatever doesn’t know what’s what becaus it’s all under the same dpci or sku...

So someone that works somewhere else is ordering and just sending stuff to stores? That’s why distribution is garbage. They have no way of knowing who has what or what’s sold because it’s all the same number. None of this makes sense

Stores don’t order direct. So someone that works somewhere else is ordering and just sending stuff to stores? That’s why distribution is garbage. They have no way of knowing who has what or what’s sold because it’s all the same number. None of this makes sense Big box retail has operated out of the distribution center model since forever. It’s nothing new, it’s nothing exclusive to any one retailer, and it’s basically the baseline model for any major retailer with any sort of national presence. It’s never, ever, ever going to change. If it’s been said once, it’s been said a thousand times...John Q. Retail Employee doesn’t give a flying fart about who Gerald Brisco is. As far as he’s concerned, he may as well be one of seven colored varieties in a box full of brooms (and logistically, that’s exactly what he is). It’s sort of retail 101 once you move deeper into store operations than the front end checkout. For as many people who claim to have the Flex Seal solution for all their figure finding woes, it’s almost astounding how few of them seem to understand how retail actually works.

I get it kinda, but for this specific thing Mattel should let Ringside order these too. It’s more like Target and Walmart have store specific broom handles and they’re not getting the cases with store specific broom handles, they’re getting the normal handle cases and too many. Maybe they get one case of their store specific handle and there’s one in each box. It’s how my store ended up with over 100 DM Ultimate Maniac Warriors and nothing else. Mattel doesn’t care, but I would think stores would when they have to sell them for $3...

If we’re talking Target... I know some areas have stocked sets that aren’t their store exclusive set, but around me the only one I’ve seen is E63. I never came across 65 or 68 at Target. It doesn’t appear that 70 will hit Target either, unless it comes in after 71.
Walmart.. yeah they got a lot of 64 with the WM shipper. Never saw 66 at Walmart. There was a lot of 69, which I don’t think was an issue as it’s a great set and people bought it. Now 70 is rolling in.
So IMO I don’t think it’s been THAT bad with stores getting their exclusive sets. The one that sticks out is 65 at Walmart coming and going pretty quick.

Mattel doesn’t care, but I would think stores would when they have to sell them for $3... We all know the difference between a case assortment of action figures and a variety pack of generic product x, y, or z. Nevertheless, that doesn’t change the fact that, even with this information in hand, Wal-Mart doesn’t care, nor do they have any reason to. The type of inventory management needed to cater to the loudest demographic here is of no interest to Wal-Mart, because the collector’s market and their business model are so far removed from one another that to undertake such an endeavor would likely warrant the creation of a new division that would generate such a small revenue stream that it’s hardly worth typing the words to suggest. Wal-Mart didn’t go to Mattel and say “give us Sherri”. Target didn’t go to a retail draft board and pick Pete Dunne with the first round selection. The retailers wanted to drive traffic into their stores, specifically. Mattel needed a guaranteed buyer for their core product line that wouldn’t dilute its business by buying up lines offered solely to them. This was the compromise. From a business standpoint, it’s largely been successful. There are still kinks to work out in the execution, namely in the aforementioned sort of artificial alternating of series availabilities, but given the interest and demand generated, it’s probably a safe bet to assume that these exclusives aren’t going anywhere soon.

I don't listen to the podcast but if it changed I'm sure they would know.

Seeing everyone complain about not being able to find $20 store exclusives Meanwhile, us international peeps have no choice BUT to pay $50+ for these most of the time. Hell, here in Australia, normal Elites are $30 in stores... (Last time i checked, Basics were $20) Half of you would probably lose your mind if Walmart etc, started charging $30 for Elites. I already know i'm gonna have to pay around $80+ just to get a Kassius Ohno. To be fair, inflation is a bit different in every country. So it’s probably around the same. I didn’t check google to see what our dollar is worth to your dollar

Anyone else noticing issues with dcpi’s for the elite line at Target? Would it help having them search by the individual dcpi’s (or not if I’m searching for the store exclusives)

I ended up buying a Sherri for 40 bucks on ebay. That's about what she's going for on there. Ebay started charging tax to my state starting in Oct though so that was a bummer to find out lol Sticking it to the little man. It just sucks I hadn't bought anything since September and this month finally bought something and I saw the tax. Use to go to the bay to find some cheap loose figures, but now with tax they sometimes end up the same price as it is new.

Obviously this is an old post but since it got bumped I figured I’d let people reading it now know the answer is Gorilla Monsoon for 72, Peyton Royce for 73, Jim Neidhart all but confirmed for 74, presumably Billie Kay for 75, and confirmed none for 76

I have went to Target everyday for months straight. Still no sign of Ohno or Paige. Collecting isn’t fund anymore. It’s actually the reason that I have been thinking of selling my collection.

Real talk: are you so big a fan of Kassius Ohno and/or Paige that their absence in your collection would render it so unenjoyable for you that you'd relinquish the whole thing?
