Further to the above.... When I started collecting Hasbros in 1991 I'd would have been very strange if Buddy Rogers, Bruno Sammarrino and Gorgeous George were a major part of the line. And I'd have had no interest in them. As a kid during the LJN heyday, it was a real drag having to get Bruno lol.

I don't understand why some people want Mattel to lose the license so bad, just because they won't make some obscure 80's jobber who only had 2 matches, or because a figure's hair is 1 shade darker than it is in real life Do you really think Mattel losing the license means whatever company they would give it to will make Rugged Ronnie Garvin, Moondog Rex, The Missing Link etc.? they would make all the current names and mostly the legends Mattel have made We just gotta face it, Mattel has made most of the legends they can make at the moment, the biggest names they haven't made are either on bad terms, or not signed to a deal, we'll get First Time In The Line flashbacks every now and then, like with The Goon and Chief Jay Strongbow I'd love to see guys like Haku, Mr.Fuji, The Steiners, Hercules etc., but it is what it is I don’t want Mattel to lose the license because I think they do a great job. What I want is for WWE & Mattel to come to an agreement about getting new legends figures made. There are a TON of big name stars from the 80’s & 90’s that have not had figures made. Not jobbers like you assume we’re talking about. Agree with this…I’ve probably got 300 figs or so now and I’ve always been someone who grabs basically every version of a wrestler Mattel make so long as they appeared in the attire before 2002 (everyone needs a cut off and that’s when I was last really invested in the programming). However I really have started to think lately that my collection is getting a bit ‘dry’ with very few new names being added, there’s only so many Triple H’s (mostly with the same head too) as an example, that you can display I think. I still bought every applicable figure but would keep some MOC and not display them if I felt like I had too many of one figure that wasn’t different enough in attire or moment. Now I’m starting to think I’ll sell off some of those I’ve kept MOC as I’ll likely never display them and I think I’ll buy less figure moving forward. Us legends collectors will be dropping out over the next 12-18 months I think, unless they suddenly can start signing FTITL or at least guys who havent had figures for years. The only saving grace at the moment for old school collectors is hoping either Chella make them (as they are with Sabu and Dynamite) or Jazwares can somehow sign up people we are missing and manage to replicate wwf/e attires. Having old school wrestlers in made up gear won’t interest me (Owen Hart maybe the one exception but even then I’d be disappointed).

WWE and Mattel extend their relationship to release the same legends over and over again in another multi year agreement..😛

It wouldn't matter to me who got the license because I wouldn't have to necessarily start over considering I only buy one of each person for the most part. I'm happy with the job Mattel is doing overall but if it was a different company I might be able to get a new version of something I missed out on like DM Bret. So you buy 3 figures a year? Cool

Mattel pays WWE millions of dollars a year for the license to use WWE’s property. Mattel then makes action figures to sell to the public to make money. If Mattel continues to make the same legends action figures over and over because WWE will only sign 20 guys to legends deals then collectors are going to quit buying. We have already had 5 X-PAC elites and are fixing to have our 6th. Mattel 100% should bring this issue up to WWE That’s funny. People bitch and bitch over the same old legends being made yet they continue to be bought up when released and most of them at least double in value on the secondary market shortly after. Maybe you fail to realize that X-Pac wore more than 5-6 attires. They will make who they can as well as different attires like they’ve been doing. It makes them money. Because I guarantee most the ones that are buying the legends, aren’t doing it for their collection, it’s to flip them.

I am glad i remember how nervous i was when Jakks lost the license. It was hard starting all over. Who knows if WWE went in another direction we could have had another total rebuild. Not everyone loves Mattel, but 5he same went with Jakks. Not everyone will always agree on the product any company puts out.

Honestly, Hasbro looked at the current state of WWE, and said "nah go head Mattel"
In 3 years elites will cost just as much as ultimates did, and ultimates will cost about the same as super 7 ultimates. With less accessories.
Basics? Lol

Serious question for anyone that can help me, but why aren't Legends in the basics lines anymore? I always enjoyed picking up a childhood hero for $10 here and there...I collected Hogan, Bret, Flair, Razor, Honky, etc. Now it's like $22-minimum for one of the 80s/90s guys.

funny how everyone blames mattel and the WWE for some of these Legends not having figures.....and nobody points to the Legends themselves
Adam Bomb bought the rights to his name and likeness so he could make money off it himself. Regardless of the intent, that was his choice. He could have given it to the WWE for "less" of a cut I'm sure
but a lot of these Legends contracts make their way to the respective stars and for one reason or another they won't sign them. its not always just "big corporate" being lazy

From what I've seen and I don't pay much attention to basics unless HBK is involved, but looks like recently they are being released in pairs for the battle pack pack/belt things.

i actually wish we could get newer, different elites of Legends that have already been made versus more new "first time" guys.
like i wish LOD were still signed, so we could get Elite WCW, Elite 96/97 era, Elite LOD 2000, and Ultimates i wish Crush was still signed so we could get Kona, Evil, NOD i wish Pillman was still signed so we could get Hollywood Blondes "official" version, and an attitue Era one in street gear i wish Kurt Angle was still signed so we could get like 10 more Elites and an Ultimate because they missed SO MANY of his looks

All in all it's not Mattels fault, if they are told what can and what can't be made.

For example: Mike Shaw who played Bastion Booger in WWF is dead so he can’t make appearances for WWE & nobody is gonna buy a BB t-shirt. Mattel could make a badass elite figure and he would fit perfectly in the legends line. Why can’t someone call his family and ask his children if they want an action figure made of their father or grandfather….Why would they say no? Heck they might even agree to do it for free just to honor him. All I’m saying is it’s stupid to make everyone sign the same legends deal. Scott Hall & Hogan sell Shirts, Figures, dvds ect. Smaller stars shouldn’t be held to the same contract.

Glad to see! For the most part Mattel has done a great job with the line. As a legends collector this line is an affordable hobby for me. My biggest complaint was distribution but over the last 6 months my local Wal Marts and Targets have had more figures on the pegs and combined with availability on their apps collecting has been much easier in 2021, especially with store exclusives. So many great figs have come out this past year and can’t wait to see what 2022 brings.

They phased out flashbacks to focus on marketing to the younger collectors in the main basic line. I believe one will still pop up every now and then but for the most part it’s current roster and development talent.

If you don't think other companies aren't going to raise prices, I want what you're smoking. In fact, the largest retailer that sells WWE figures sells them cheaper than any other mass market 6-7 inch action figure line.
