I hate it. I like to know that some figures of mine have gone up in value. While I don't collect for value and honestly can't remember the last time I even sold a figure for a large profit, it just bothers me. I missed out on a NWO macho man but I don't want it released again. If I want it I will have to suck it up and pay on secondary market. I missed Hall too and just spend 45 on one before the price jumps. It's the nature of the hobby. What's the fun in collecting if they make sure every single person has it?

Absolutely not. If you missed a particular figure the first time or have to pay inflated secondary-market prices, then sorry - but tough. I love having hard-to-find and sought-after figures... sure it's nice that they're worth a bit too, but that's besides the point (I don't intend on selling them!). I don't mind so much with figures you can clearly tell are different (eg. the HOF King Booker), but even then, I'd rather they not re-release it... it makes the original figure way more special and collectible. 100% agreed my friend.

Don't care. I just want a chance to pick up Diesel and red Outsiders Nash without having to pay over $200. While it's a nice feeling to have something rare, in the end, they're just toys.

I personally have missed out on E19 HBK and E23 UT along with other older Elites. As much as I'm happy that they are being rereleased (which I won't miss out on this time around) I do wish from a collectors stand point that they end up slightly different (Repaint maybe) I feel for the collectors who are pissed about this issue but hopefully it's for the best. I see Mattel having the WWE licensing deal for years to come so if some guys get rereleased then so be it. As long as we get all the others supers and attires that we want.

I love it…I'm relieved. After years of looking for Diesel, Bam Bam, Martel, etc on ebay and deciding I can't pay those prices, now I feel like maybe I won't have to.

Is it genius on Mattel's part? Yes. Do I like it personally? No! It's a waste of space that could be used to further the line. Mattel is making history by producing NXT figures which many of us called "impossible" when Mattel first started. Now they are taking away good slots for First in the Line figures for re releases. Do I'm kind of split on them though. It's both good for collectors and also a slap in the face. So it's positive in way that if you missed out (an can pay outrageous prices) you can now own the figures. But it's a HUGE slap in the face to collectors who have gone the secondary market an paid out the butt for figures. Sometimes I got to flea markets and drop $100 on two figures lol. Is that my fault? Of coarse. But it's not fair that they re release without saying "hey it's our intent to come out with the figure again someday." In all, I'm totally against re releases. Especially since this figure line hasn't been around for long. Re releases should be for toy lines decades old. Not when they are still very mass produced and fairly easy to find on the secondary market. It's a waste. Not sure I'd call it "genius" in part because it seems like there hasn't been a strong connection between a figure that goes for a lot on the secondary market and its popularity at retail after getting reissued/slightly retooled. - Horsemen set: BOMB. Still warming at half off. That set included two figures (Tully and Arn) that "lots" of people supposedly desperately wanted in their collection. And hey, even a first time in the line with Windham. It was a barebones set for sure, but the cost of the set at retail was fair for what you were getting. - DM Taker: BOMB. Amazon shuffled them out at $12 a piece just months after the release. Stores around here did some clearance on them. Those that didn't still have a ton of the shelves. I've only seen DM Austin at Toys R Us because the Undertaker DM is still full price at places like Walmart. - Spotlight Boss Man: Looking like a BOMB. Only Elite 41 Dean is warming harder at Toys R Us. Compare that to the Network Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, which has moved along quickly with each restock. I'm not totally against re-releases, but I think if Mattel is thinking they're gonna print money with reissues of "valuable" secondary market figures, well, the history shows that doesn't always work out that way. In short, I'll bet we're up to our arms in Kamalas and Sorta-Blue-But-Not-Purple Undertakers before this is all said and done.

Let them make you money. cash in...sell yours before the price drops and then rebuy it when it's rereleased.

I don't mind it, but it's a bit of a downer when you think you're gonna get a new version of a guy and it just turns out to be one from a few series past. I assume the logic would be that Mattel wants the money that collectors make from selling older figures.

And guys, look, you can be a collector and still enjoy knowing you have some items of perceived value. There's no shame in that and it doesn't make you less of a collector.
For me, toys are a totally unnecessary hobby in terms of necessity. It's easier to justify dropping hundreds of dollars every few months on this stuff if you can at least take some comfort in knowing that IF you decide to cash out at some point, you can probably at least recoup your losses. Again, there's nothing wrong with this mentality.
For a guy like me who doesn't have a ton of money, it was nice to know that if my car breaks down or I lose my job or there's an emergency that comes up, I could theoretically go to my collection and cash it out to cover those expenses. Not that I want to or buy planning to do that, but it's a nice thought all the same.

Depends on who it is. If it's a re-release of the Diesel/Kevin Nash figures, go for it. The prices, as stated by many, are really steep.
If it's for certain figures that had a limited release online, basically the more obscure characters, it would probably shelfwarm.

There should be slight differences so both parties have a reason to buy, like make E12 Kane's shoulder peg red this time, give Warrior the proper IC belt, or make sure Undertaker's tie is the same shade of purple as his gloves(I could never find the corrected tie in stores, still don't have it/can't find it for a reasonable price)

Bring them all on.
Most people havent been collecting since the begining. Gives everyone a chance.
You have them already, dont buy them.

If the Warrior comes with a yellow IC Title and black WWE Title, then I will definitely get it. But if its coming with the yellow WWE Title (that never existed to begin with) then its gonna be a hard pass.
Same with HBK. If he comes with paint on the silver sleeve he has, or kneepads that have a heart on them, I will get it. If its the same identical figure as before, again, a hard pass.

Here's what I don't understand. People who love rereleases love em because they don't have those figures. But why didn't they buy them the first time around? Most of these figures could have been found easily with a little bit of hunting or online at RSC by paying a little more. Why cater to the customer who couldve already purchased this figure and passed but now having regrets?

It's absolutely ridiculous, Mattel has really dropped the ball on this one. To do a straight re release is a slap in the face of collectors. They are devaluing the collectability of their product. I knew we we're in trouble when they re released the Sdcc Undertaker exclusive. I was so passionate about collecting this product because to me it was art. The integrity of this art has been tarnished over a few dollars.

I would prefer some variations and think it would be better business to hook the hardcore fans into a second purchase but realistically this is the 2nd series of re releases in what... 4 years since the first hall of fame set? .... Which actually bombed , but they were different times folks
Who knows... There's more people invested now so I'm sure that most of those figures will sell ok...
Back to my first thought, if this series had some variations then it would have had at least one pre order from me, possibly all 4 of the re released legends/flashbacks

Perfect example of a re-painted and re-released figure would be E17 Mankind with a smiley face neck tie and baby blue sweat pants. They already made a great move with re-releasing King Booker but with alternate colored gold attire modifications in HOF 4.

There's definitely pros and cons with rereleases.
The Pros - It benefits collectors who have missed out on the previous figures and they are able to attain them at a much cheaper price. Also, if there were any errors from the first release, the rerelease may come updated. (IE loose joints, bleeding clothes, etc. I skipped out on all the rereleases so far except for DM Taker just because I paid $10 for him MOC and I have no intentions of removing my SDCC Taker out of its box. Each rerelease saves me about $20+ so that's a real plus.
The Cons - As a collector, having a rare or sought after figure makes my collection that much more attractive. If Mattel floods the market with all the rare figures, then everyone would have the same collection. There are so many other figures that still needs to be made but I guess whatever Mattel thinks will make them the most profit, they'll do.
