Curious what the overall thoughts are on mattel re releasing older popular figures? me personally I try to look at both the positive and negatives.
the positive is obviously that the people who missed out on the figures the first time get a second chance and don't have to pay a crazy amount for it. the negative IMO is that if you had the figures already they were something that stood out in your collection and now with a lot of the more sought after figures being re released it kind of takes away from that a little bit.
IMO if they want to re release then maybe go the way of the new HOF King Booker that's coming out. he has different colored attire vs the flashback version same with kevin nash .that way you can still have a king booker or kevin nash without it taking away from the first release.
At the end of the day though im still glad the people who missed out the first time get a 2nd chance.

Regardless of what the customers think, Mattel needs to ask itself "Can we make money by re-releasing xxx figure?"
If the answer is yes, be my guest. I wouldn't mind buying a re-released DM Triple H.

Generally it's a no. BUT, if it's to rectify a mistake or something bad from the last time then yes. Exclusives? Absolutely not.

From a collectors standpoint, I do and don't mind.
I don't mind because, as the OP said, hopefully it's focusing on popular figs that quickly became hard to find and people are asking a lot of money for. On the other hand, I do mind because if it IS such a popular figure, many will take a long time to finally decide to pay however much someone is asking for a figure, only to find out very shortly after it's getting a re-release. I.E., Undertaker Elite 23, I JUST paid $50 for it. Probably not a lot in some minds, but now seeing the re-release coming out for half the price and in the newer style packaging, it's a bit annoying.
Fortunately for me, I mainly just get Elites when/if I plan to get them signed. So for now I'll be holding off on paying a lot for ones that could potentially get a re-release through this series, such as the RSC Edge and Elite 12 Kane.

Overall I don't have an issue with it. I don't collect figures in hoping to sell them at a premium due to rarity someday.
It is somewhat frustrating for those of us that did get it the first time around though. Again there are figures I missed as well that I do hope get rereleased like Demolition and the Rockers.

I'm okay with occasionally but not 4 IN THE SAME SET.

As long as it doesn't affect the number of new figures or the time it takes for them to be inserted in the line then I'm all for it. I much prefer new releases though.

Is it genius on Mattel's part? Yes. Do I like it personally? No!
It's a waste of space that could be used to further the line. Mattel is making history by producing NXT figures which many of us called "impossible" when Mattel first started. Now they are taking away good slots for First in the Line figures for re releases.
Do I'm kind of split on them though. It's both good for collectors and also a slap in the face. So it's positive in way that if you missed out (an can pay outrageous prices) you can now own the figures. But it's a HUGE slap in the face to collectors who have gone the secondary market an paid out the butt for figures. Sometimes I got to flea markets and drop $100 on two figures lol. Is that my fault? Of coarse. But it's not fair that they re release without saying "hey it's our intent to come out with the figure again someday."
In all, I'm totally against re releases. Especially since this figure line hasn't been around for long. Re releases should be for toy lines decades old. Not when they are still very mass produced and fairly easy to find on the secondary market. It's a waste.

I think a happy medium might be maybe re releasing with some variations where they can. why not have warrior in the WM attire but maybe have him in a post match look with worn out face paint or like they are doing with the kind booker, its a king booker but in different trunks

My only gripe with re-releases is that we have two elite Booker T figures but neither one is a proper late WCW run or 2002 WWE run.
I'll say it before and I'll say it again, Booker T and Goldust are hands down my favorite tag team and it'd be nice to snag a Booker T from that era.
It'll come eventually though. I have faith in Mattel.

It is whatever. If you are in it to resell your figures down the road, it would suck because it makes figures like E14 Bossman worthless in that aspect. I personally like the idea. Gives me a chance to get figures that I originally passed on or traded away like L6 Warrior. Plus, saves on the wallet when pre-orders come up. Only needed to order a couple figures this time around because I already have the others.

I don't mind rereleases. I think it would be kinda cool to have a set where like you could get Elite 16 CM Punk for instance one more time, new packing, same accessories in a current set. Obviously, Punk would be a bad example as he is not longer under contract, but something to this effect.

Absolutely not. If you missed a particular figure the first time or have to pay inflated secondary-market prices, then sorry - but tough. I love having hard-to-find and sought-after figures... sure it's nice that they're worth a bit too, but that's besides the point (I don't intend on selling them!).
I don't mind so much with figures you can clearly tell are different (eg. the HOF King Booker), but even then, I'd rather they not re-release it... it makes the original figure way more special and collectible.

As a collector, I do mind re-releases sometimes because I'd prefer more new superstars but as a guy living on his own with bills and stuff I actually love re-releases sometimes cause it gives my wallet a break.
